Transforming our new aircraft to serve you better

Our fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft is expanding, offering you more frequent and convenient service across our network.

We are actively expanding our fleet to include more 737 aircraft. This includes aircraft formerly operated by Swoop, recently acquired Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, and in 2025 it will include Sunwing Airlines aircraft.

The addition of these aircraft is essential to providing you with reliable and affordable access to our growing network and schedule. They also improve aircraft availability to rebook guests if affected by irregular operations.

The Premium experience is different on these aircraft

We are actively working on reconfiguring these aircraft to achieve a consistent onboard experience across our fleet, however, while we are undergoing this process the onboard experience in Premium may look a little different.

  • Seats may be smaller with limited recline, no extra legroom, and no power charging port. Premium seats vary by aircraft.
  • Chilled fresh meals are served on flights over 2.5 hours. Hot meals are not offered on aircraft undergoing reconfiguration.
  • Preferred seating at the front of the aircraft. No cabin divider separates these seats from the rest of the aircraft.
  • More elbow room with blocked middle seats for the first three rows.
  • Priority boarding Zone 2. enjoy early access to your seat and overhead bin space.
  • Exclusive snacks and beverages including wine, beer, and spirits are complimentary.
  • Future travel credit of $50 CAD for guests travelling domestically and $100 CAD for guests travelling internationally or to the U.S. will be automatically issued to Travel Bank for guests who purchased a Premium fare, flew on these aircraft and added their WestJet Rewards ID to the booking. This is in recognition of the difference in overall experience.

The process for booking these Premium seats will remain the same. You will be able to recognize if you are booking a flight on one of these aircraft by looking for the “Cabin transformation” indicator when booking on Westjet.com. If you booked with a travel agent, corporate travel arranger or online travel agency, please consult them to confirm if your flight will be on an aircraft undergoing cabin transformation.

Recognizing the difference in experience

We recognize that some of the amenities on aircraft undergoing a Premium cabin transformation may differ from our other aircraft. In recognition of this, guests who purchase a Premium fare and fly on these aircraft will be issued a $50 CAD Travel Bank credit for guests travelling domestically and $100 CAD Travel Bank credit for guests travelling internationally or to the U.S. that can be used for future travel. Each guest who has purchased a Premium fare (excluding lap-held infants) qualifies for the credit and is required to have a WestJet Rewards account, with their WestJet Rewards ID added to the booking for the credit to be issued. If you don’t have one, you can sign up now for a WestJet Rewards account.

How long until these transformations are complete?

Our team is working hard to reconfigure our new aircraft.  We are expecting these cabin transformations to be complete in early 2026. Currently, 85% of our operating 737 aircraft (100 out of 117) are reconfigured. We will update the progress tracker below as the remaining aircraft undergo their cabin transformations.
