Emergency Food Kits take flight for Ukraine with help from WestJet Cargo
As WestJet continues its support of Ukraine humanitarian relief efforts, the airline has successfully transported its first WestJet Cargo shipment of 1,600 Emergency Food Kits in partnership with GlobalMedic from Toronto to London, Gatwick. Upon arrival in London, the kits are being transported onwards by Airlink and Priority Worldwide to Romania to be brought into Ukraine and distributed by GlobalMedic to those in need.

Transported on WestJet’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner via flight WS003 on April 24, the cargo shipment totaling more than 13,000kg and 20 pallets, included the 1,340 Emergency Food Kits prepared by 30 WestJet volunteers who came together in Toronto at the end of March to support those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. This first shipment was made possible through the collaboration of many industry partners including, Airlink and Priority Worldwide, GTA Dnata, Worldwide Flight Services and Menzies Aviation.

Since the onset of the crisis, the WestJet Group has announced several measures in support of humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, most recently partnering with the Flight Hub Group to assist the transportation of the GlobalMedic team throughout Europe.
