WestJet Rewards terms and conditions
Effective Date: September 16, 2024
- Thank you for joining WestJet Rewards® (hereinafter "Reward Program"). WestJet Rewards® is a reward program offered by WestJet, an Alberta partnership ("WestJet") to WestJet guests who are members of WestJet Rewards® including holders of a WestJet RBC® Mastercard‡ or a WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard‡ (each, a "WestJet Credit Card"). The following terms and conditions (hereinafter “Reward Program Rules” or “Rules”) apply to WestJet Rewards®. By gaining access to, using this site, creating a new account with WestJet that includes enrolment into WestJet Rewards®, or adding WestJet Rewards® to an existing account, you agree to be bound by these Reward Program Rules. WestJet reserves the right to revise or change the Reward Program Rules at any time and without notice to you by posting updated text on this site. You are responsible for periodically visiting this site to view any changes. By your continued participation in the Reward Program, you are deemed to accept any change or update to the Reward Program Rules.
- Tier Qualifying Spend – Tier Qualifying Spend is composed of spend earned on 1) one hundred per cent of each dollar paid for WestJet Eligible Fares (as defined herein) on WestJet-Marketed Flights (as defined herein) purchased in your name and flown during your Qualifying Year (as defined herein), 2) twenty per cent of each dollar paid for your proportionate share of the base package price of WestJet Vacations Eligible Packages (as defined herein) booked in your name and completed during your Qualifying Year, and 3) any amounts earned from Status Lift (as defined herein) in a Qualifying Year, which is an annual benefit provided to holders of a WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard‡. For greater certainty, Tier Qualifying Spend does not include spend on Partner-Marketed Flights (as defined herein), WestJet Vacations group vacation package bookings, WestJet-designated partner bookings (including, but not limited to car rentals), WestJet Vacations Land-Only Bookings (as defined herein), gift certificates, gift cards, taxes, charges and/or fees paid which are not specifically stated as Tier Qualifying Spend by WestJet, in its sole discretion. See section G for more information. For further clarity, Tier Qualifying Spend also does not include redemption of WestJet dollars or other reward program redemption. For details on tiers, earn rates, and associated benefits available to members upon achieving certain levels of Tier Qualifying Spend, see westjet.com/rewards.
- Milestone Qualifying Spend – Effective September 1, 2021, Milestone Qualifying Spend is calculated separately from Tier Qualifying Spend and includes spend earned through eligible WestJet travel, as detailed below, but does not include any amounts earned from Status Lift (as defined herein). Milestone Qualifying Spend is composed of spend earned on 1) one hundred per cent of each dollar paid for WestJet Eligible Fares (as defined herein) on WestJet-Marketed Flights (as defined herein) purchased in your name and flown during your Qualifying Year (as defined herein) and 2) twenty per cent of each dollar paid for your proportionate share of the base package price of WestJet Vacations Eligible Packages (as defined herein) booked in your name and completed during your Qualifying Year. For greater certainty, Milestone Qualifying Spend does not include spend on Partner-Marketed Flights (as defined herein), WestJet Vacations group vacation package bookings, WestJet-designated partner bookings (including, but not limited to car rentals), WestJet Vacations Land-Only Bookings (as defined herein), gift certificates, gift cards, taxes, charges and/or fees paid which are not specifically stated as Milestone Qualifying Spend by WestJet, in its sole discretion. See section G for more information. For further clarity, Milestone Qualifying Spend also does not include redemption of WestJet dollars, other reward program redemption or any amounts earned from Status Lift. - Qualifying Year - Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend are accumulated on an annual basis, from January to December of each year. Your first Qualifying Year will begin on the date that you enrol and end on December 31 of the same year. Each subsequent Qualifying Year will be the next January 1 to December 31 period. For example, if you enrol on March 15, 2021, your first Qualifying Year will be from March 15, 2021 until December 31, 2021. In subsequent Qualifying Years, your Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend will each accumulate from January 1 to December 31.
- WestJet Eligible Fares – WestJet Eligible Fares are fares published by WestJet, except UltraBasic fares, and available to all guests on the WestJet website (found at www.westjet.com), less any discounts. For further clarity, WestJet Eligible Fares exclude: UltraBasic fares; Member Exclusive fares; contracted fares; reward program redemption; tour operator fares; charters; other carrier-marketed code-share flights; WestJet Vacations bookings; Sunwing Vacations bookings; and WestJet Vacations Quebec bookings.
- WestJet Vacations Eligible Packages – A WestJet Vacations Eligible Package is a packaged vacation sold by WestJet Vacations, a tour operator within the Sunwing Vacations Group (as defined herein), for up to nine individuals on a single booking which includes, at minimum, airfare on WestJet-operated flights and accommodations, and sold for one combined base package price. Other services, including but not limited to attractions, transfers or meal plans, may also be included in the base package price at WestJet Vacations' sole discretion. For further clarity, WestJet Vacations Eligible Packages excludes group vacation package bookings comprised of 10 or more individuals on a booking and all individual and group package bookings sold by all other tour operators within the Sunwing Vacations Group, including but not limited to Sunwing Vacations and WestJet Vacations Quebec.
- WestJet Vacations Land-Only Bookings – A WestJet Vacations Land-Only Booking is a single booking sold by WestJet Vacations, a tour operator within the Sunwing Vacations Group (as defined herein), in which services including, but not limited to, hotels, car rentals, attractions, transfers, and/or meal plans are sold to one or more individuals without airfare. For further clarity, WestJet Vacations Land-Only Bookings excludes all land-only bookings sold by all other tour operators within the Sunwing Vacations Group, including but not limited to Sunwing Vacations and WestJet Vacations Quebec.
- Member Exclusive Fares – Member Exclusive Fares are private fares available to Reward Program members. Member Exclusive Fares include WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flights (as defined herein) and are limited in availability at WestJet’s sole discretion. Member Exclusive Fares on Partner-Marketed Flights (as defined herein) are no longer available as of June 25, 2020.
- WestJet-Marketed Flight – A WestJet-Marketed Flight is a flight identified by a WS carrier code preceding the flight number and represents a flight sold by WestJet, which may be operated by WestJet or another carrier.
- Partner – A Partner is a third party with whom WestJet dollars can be earned on that third party's goods and/or services.
- Partner-Marketed Flight – A Partner-Marketed Flight is a flight identified by a two-letter carrier code other than WS preceding the flight number and represents a flight sold by a partner airline, which may be operated by the partner airline or another carrier, such as WestJet.
- Partner Eligible Fares - Partner Eligible Fares are fares published by a Partner, less any discounts. Partner Eligible Fares exclude: reward program redemption; tour operator fares; charters; or other carrier-marketed code-share flights or vacation packages.
- WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flight - A WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flight is a flight that is both a WestJet-Marketed Flight and is operated solely by WestJet, WestJet Encore or WestJet Link operated by Pacific Coastal Airlines on a Saab 340B (SF3).
- Mileage Flown – Mileage Flown is applicable to Partner-Marketed flights only and is determined on the basis of non-stop distances between the airports where your flight originates and terminates. In the case of a connecting flight, Mileage Flown will be calculated on each individual segment.
- Companion Voucher – A Companion Voucher is a reward issued as a result of achieving certain milestones of Milestone Qualifying Spend in the Reward Program. A Companion Voucher allows a member to purchase a WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flight at the available fare and to receive the base fare for the second guest on the same itinerary at no charge. Taxes, fees and charges and other ATC (Air Transportation Charges) for the second guest are applicable and must be paid at the time of booking.
- World Elite Companion Voucher and Credit Card Companion Voucher
World Elite Companion Voucher – A World Elite Companion Voucher is a reward issued in connection with activity with a WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard‡ that allows a member to purchase a WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flight at the available fare and to pay a reduced amount for the base fare for the second guest on the same itinerary. Taxes, fees and charges and other ATC (Air Transportation Charges) for the second guest are applicable and must be paid at time of booking. Credit Card Companion Voucher – A Credit Card Companion Voucher is a reward issued in connection with activity with a WestJet RBC® Mastercard‡ that allows a member to purchase a WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flight within Canada or the continental United States at the available fare and to pay a reduced amount for the base fare for the second guest on the same itinerary. Taxes, fees and charges and other ATC (Air Transportation Charges) for the second guest are applicable and must be paid at time of booking. See westjet.com/creditcard for details on the WestJet RBC® Mastercard‡. - Flight Benefits – Flight Benefits are travel privileges made available to a member as a result of achieving certain levels of Tier Qualifying Spend in the Reward Program. Flight Benefits may include the waiving of fees for certain WestJet products and services and access to certain airport privileges when travelling on WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flights.
- Base Rewards – Base Rewards are WestJet dollars directly earned through eligible purchase transactions of WestJet Eligible Fares, select Partner Eligible Fares, WestJet Vacations Eligible Packages, WestJet designated Partner bookings (including, but not limited to car rentals), and WestJet Vacations Land-Only Bookings. Base Rewards also include WestJet dollars earned by obtaining or using your WestJet Credit Card (as applicable), or obtained by: (1) converting Avion Rewards® points to WestJet dollars through the Avion Rewards® program offered by the Royal Bank of Canada; or (2) purchasing WestJet dollars from an approved reseller such as points.com. Base Rewards do not include Bonus Rewards.
- Bonus Rewards – Bonus Rewards are certain benefits, rewards or incentives that are offered by WestJet on an additional, promotional or bonus basis. Bonus Rewards include, but are not limited to (1) WestJet dollars issued in connection with a promotion, guest service compensation, contests, giveaways, or time-limited offers; (2) All Vouchers, including Companion Vouchers, World Elite Companion Vouchers and Credit Card Companion Vouchers; (3) Flight Benefits; and (4) any other benefits or awards associated with membership in WestJet Rewards that are not expressly defined as Base Rewards.
- Status Lift – Status Lift is an annual benefit available as of September 1, 2021 to members who are primary cardholders of a WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard‡, providing a supplemental method to earn Tier Qualifying Spend. With Status Lift, members can earn five-hundred dollars in Tier Qualifying Spend for every fifteen-thousand dollars in eligible purchases on their WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard‡, up to a maximum of fifteen-hundred dollars in Tier Qualifying Spend in a Qualifying Year. See westjet.com/statuslift for full details. From time to time, WestJet may offer members the ability to earn Tier Qualifying Spend from Status Lift at a reduced rate. WestJet reserves the right to make such offers on specific dates and times and to modify such offers, at its sole discretion. Any such offers will be communicated by WestJet at westjet.com/statuslift.
- Sunwing Vacations Eligible Packages – A Sunwing Vacations Eligible Package is a packaged vacation sold by Sunwing Vacations, a tour operator within the Sunwing Vacations Group, for up to nine individuals on a single booking which includes, at minimum, airfare on a Sunwing- or WestJet-operated flight and accommodations, and sold for one combined base package price. Other services, including but not limited to attractions, transfers or meal plans, may also be included in the base package price at Sunwing Vacations' sole discretion. For further clarity, Sunwing Vacations Eligible Packages excludes group vacation package bookings comprised of 10 or more individuals on a booking.
- WestJet Vacations Quebec Eligible Packages – A WestJet Vacations Quebec Eligible Package is a packaged vacation sold by WestJet Vacations Quebec, a tour operator within the Sunwing Vacations Group, for up to nine individuals on a single booking which includes, at minimum, airfare on a Sunwing-operated flight and accommodations, and sold for one combined base package price. Other services, including but not limited to attractions, transfers or meal plans, may also be included in the base package price at WestJet Vacations Quebec’s sole discretion. For further clarity, WestJet Vacations Quebec Eligible Packages excludes group vacation package bookings comprised of 10 or more individuals on a booking.
- Sunwing Vacations Group – Sunwing Vacations Group includes the brands and/or legal entities Sunwing Vacations Inc., Sunwing Vacations, Selloff Vacations, WestJet Vacations Inc., WestJet Vacations, WestJet Vacations Quebec, Vacances WestJet Québec, Vacations Express USA Corp., Vacations Express, Luxe Destination Weddings, and Luxe.
- Membership in WestJet Rewards® is limited to natural persons and no corporation, trust, partnership, household, animal or other entity may hold membership in the Reward Program.
- You must create an individual account, only once, and use your name exactly as it appears on your government-issued identification. Minor children may register using their parent's email address. Applications for enrolment can be completed at www.westjet.com.
- WestJet Credit Cards are issued by RBC® and approval of applications for WestJet Credit Cards is subject to the discretion of RBC®.
- Proper legal documentation will be required for any name change on your account.
- You must have a valid email address to create an account. The primary method of communication from WestJet to you will be via email.
- Upon creation of an account, you will receive a) WestJet Rewards® account updates, which includes account statements, notification of awards and benefits you've earned, or Reward Program updates; b) WestJet Rewards® offers; and c) promotional communications for WestJet and WestJet Vacations (collectively “Updates and Offers”). You may opt out of receiving Updates and Offers at any time by updating your communication preferences online at westjet.com/account.
- If you are an agent who is creating an account for an individual, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to act as an agent for the individual.
- You will be issued a membership number which will be e-mailed to you after your account is created. It is your responsibility to record and retain your membership number. WestJet will not issue membership cards.
- You must advise WestJet immediately of any change of address or email address by updating your account online at www.westjet.com.
- Upon receiving notice or becoming aware of the death of a WestJet Rewards® member who has accumulated WestJet dollars in WestJet Rewards®, WestJet will terminate the membership, the account will be closed and the WestJet dollars in the WestJet Rewards® member's account will be available for redemption by the WestJet Rewards® member's estate. A copy of the death certificate and proof of executor or administrator, satisfactory to WestJet, may be required. The executor or administrator must advise WestJet of who the beneficiary of the WestJet dollars will be and provide the beneficiary's account number (or a new account will be opened for the beneficiary if the beneficiary does not already hold an account). WestJet will not be liable or responsible in any manner for any tax consequences which may flow from the inheritance of WestJet dollars. WestJet dollars that have not been claimed as of 12 months after the deceased WestJet Rewards® member's account is closed will automatically be cancelled and may not subsequently be redeemed, consolidated, converted, exchanged, combined or transferred. WestJet dollars will not be exchanged for cash.
- WestJet dollars are not divisible in case of separation or divorce.
- WestJet Rewards® membership is granted in WestJet's sole discretion, and may be withdrawn in WestJet's sole discretion with or without notification.
- If, in WestJet's sole opinion, you abuse any WestJet Rewards® privileges, fail to follow any of its terms and conditions or make any misrepresentation to WestJet, WestJet may, in its sole discretion, revoke any or all of the WestJet dollars in your account and/or revoke your membership in WestJet Rewards®, with or without notification.
- WestJet will not be liable or responsible in any manner for any tax consequences which may flow from participation in WestJet Rewards®. You will be solely responsible for the reporting of any income tax benefits and the payment of any taxes.
- WestJet may provide information about you to other parties, such as participating partners, merchants or service providers, as required to administer WestJet Rewards®, to fulfill your redemption requests under WestJet Rewards®, to conduct research, or to provide you with relevant advertising or direct mail offers from WestJet or via third parties with whom we partner, and to provide you with a tailored program experience based on your demographics and where you shop. All collection, use or disclosure of personal information about you shall be in accordance with the WestJet Privacy Policy that is available on www.westjet.com. Additionally, you can opt out of WestJet's behavioural online advertising. To opt out of online behavioural advertising using AdChoices, click on the AdChoices Icon in a banner ad. To opt out of online behavioural advertising on Facebook, click the or on the top right corner of a Facebook ad and select 'Why am I seeing this?'.
- Account information will only be given to the account holder, the parent or guardian of record in the case of a minor, or a person designated by you in writing as defined earlier or pursuant to a court order or request from a government agency holding legislative power to compel such disclosure.
- WestJet dollars in an account belong to the account holder and not to the person or company who paid for the transaction giving rise to the WestJet dollars.
- Electronic account statements will be issued and sent to your email address on record, unless you opt out of receiving Updates and Offers. The frequency of issuance of such statements may be dependent on your individual level of activity in WestJet Rewards®.
- Your account will remain active if you accrue Base Rewards or redeem WestJet dollars within the preceding 24-month period. If your account is not active, WestJet may, at its discretion, deactivate your account. In addition, WestJet may deactivate any account that has had fraudulent activity. If an account is deactivated, all Base Rewards and Bonus Rewards within the account will expire.
- Each year, you may receive an email asking you to validate your account unless you have opted out of Updates and Offers. You must take the steps outlined in the notice to ensure that your account is validated and that you continue to receive correspondence from WestJet regarding your account. If you opt out of Updates and Offers, you will be responsible to ensure your account remains validated on an annual basis.
- If there is any discrepancy between account statements, WestJet reservation system or any other source, WestJet Rewards® records are final, conclusive and binding.
- Subject to all conditions in this document, WestJet dollars may be earned through eligible purchases made on the following: your WestJet Credit Card (as applicable); WestJet Eligible Fares; select Partner Eligible Fares; WestJet Vacations Eligible Packages; WestJet-designated Partner bookings (including, but not limited to car rentals); and WestJet Vacations Land-Only Bookings. WestJet dollars may also be obtained by: (1) converting Avion Rewards® points to WestJet dollars through the Avion Rewards® program offered by the Royal Bank of Canada; or (2) purchasing WestJet dollars from an approved reseller, such as points.com. Some conditions and restrictions apply. Please refer to the Avion Rewards® Terms and Conditions at www.avionrewards.com or the points.com WestJet dollars purchase interface for more details.
- WestJet dollars earned through the use of a WestJet Credit Card will be awarded to the WestJet Rewards® member's account who is the primary cardholder of the WestJet Credit Card. Eligible purchases do not include cash advances, balance transfers, interest, annual credit card fees, and are net of returned purchases. The terms and conditions of each WestJet Credit Card will set out what constitutes eligible purchases for the purposes of earning WestJet dollars through the use of the WestJet Credit Card. - WestJet Eligible Fares on WestJet-Marketed Flights will earn WestJet dollars based on accumulated Tier Qualifying Spend and associated reward level at time of travel. See www.westjet.com/rewards for earn rates and details.
- Partner Eligible Fares on Partner-Marketed Flights, whether operated by the partner or by WestJet, will earn WestJet dollars based on Mileage Flown and class of service purchased, as applicable. See www.westjet.com/rewards for eligible partners and details.
- If you are a member of more than one frequent flyer program, you may earn reward credit, which includes mileage, WestJet dollars, or other rewards, under only one frequent flyer program for each flight activity.
- For WestJet Vacations Eligible Packages, WestJet dollars will be awarded individually to each WestJet Rewards® member in a booking, and in each case, for that member's proportionate share of the total eligible spend of the Package. Such proportionate shares will be determined at WestJet's sole discretion and in no event will the sum of all proportionate shares exceed the total eligible spend of the Package. Eligible spend on a WestJet Vacations Eligible Package includes base airfare on WestJet-operated flights, hotel, attractions, transfers and/or meal plans, but excludes all taxes, fees and other charges. WestJet dollars are not awarded on WestJet Vacations group vacation package bookings.
- WestJet dollars will be awarded for a set percentage of the total eligible spend on the purchase amount of a car rental booking made through westjet.com, a Partner website or a Partner call centre, as applicable, where the member has the ability to enter or provide a WestJet Rewards ID. Eligible spend is the total base amount of the completed transaction. Changes made at the supplier, taxes, fees, charges, ancillary items or extras are not included in the eligible spend for earning WestJet dollars. WestJet dollars are awarded to the WestJet Rewards ID associated to the purchase, regardless of who paid for the transaction.
- For WestJet Vacations Land-Only Bookings, WestJet dollars will be awarded individually to each WestJet Rewards® member listed in the booking, and in each case, for that member’s proportionate share of the total eligible spend, except where only one member is listed on all or some of the reservations for services, in which case only the member listed will be awarded WestJet dollars for the applicable portion of the eligible spend. Such proportionate shares will be determined at WestJet’s sole discretion and in no event will the sum of all proportionate shares exceed the total eligible spend of the booking. Eligible spend on a WestJet Vacations Land-Only Booking may include any combination of hotel, car rental, attractions, transfers and/or meal plans, but excludes all taxes, fees, and other charges.
- WestJet dollars will be banked to your member account. See www.westjet.com/rewards for details regarding WestJet dollar earning and redemption.
- WestJet dollars, Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend are maintained with Canadian equivalent currency. WestJet dollars, Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend are rounded to the nearest dollar.
- You may also earn WestJet dollars through other offers, promotions or incentives that may be offered by WestJet from time to time. WestJet reserves the right to make offers on specific dates, times or routes and to modify such offers, at its sole discretion.
- WestJet may change the basis on which WestJet dollars are awarded (including the rates at which Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend are accumulated and WestJet dollars are earned) at any time, with or without notice, in WestJet's sole discretion.
- Additional WestJet dollars are also earned on eligible WestJet Credit Card purchases made directly with WestJet or WestJet Vacations. See www.westjet.com/rewards for details.
- Please allow 30 business days from transaction completion for WestJet dollars to be posted to your account.
- You must provide your member number at the time of booking. WestJet will consider requests to retroactively apply your membership number for up to twelve (12) months from the date that the flight or activity is completed, provided that you were enrolled in the program at the time the flight or activity was completed. For Partner Eligible fares, the applicable timeframe to submit a retroactive request may vary; see www.westjet.com/rewardspartners for details. For requests relating WestJet Eligible Fares and missing WestJet dollars and/or Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend due to a flight re-accommodation on a partner airline, please visit the WestJet Rewards flight earn request for flight re-accommodation page. In all cases, you are responsible for providing all documentation evidencing the transaction within such timeframe. WestJet has the sole discretion to make any adjustments and WestJet's decision is final.
- Except as specifically provided in these terms and conditions, WestJet dollars have no cash value, and are not exchangeable for cash.
- Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend arising from the purchase of a WestJet Eligible Fare for a WestJet-Marketed Flight will be prorated amongst all flown segments on the ticket according to IATA prorate standards.
- Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend arising from the purchase of a WestJet Vacations Eligible Package will be calculated as a set percentage of the member’s proportionate share of the final base package price and processed as a single amount upon completion of travel.
- Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend will be accumulated to the WestJet Rewards® member who is the individual traveller and whose name and membership number appear on the ticket.
- Tier Qualifying Spend earned through Status Lift will be awarded to the WestJet Rewards® member’s account who is the primary cardholder of the WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard‡. See westjet.com/statuslift for details.
- Combining Tier Qualifying Spend and/or Milestone Qualifying Spend between two or more different WestJet Rewards® members is not allowed. Your account will only hold the Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend associated to your individual activity.
- Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend belong to the account holder and not to the person or company who paid for the transaction giving rise to the Tier Qualifying Spend, Milestone Qualifying Spend or WestJet dollars.
- Tier Qualifying Spend, Milestone Qualifying Spend and WestJet dollars accumulated by a minor will be deposited in the minor's account. The minor's account and WestJet dollars may be administered by the minor's parent or legal guardian. Reward notifications will be sent to the email address on record (not necessarily the email address of the parent who purchased the ticket for the minor). In a divorce situation, either parent or guardian who wishes to challenge the email address on record will be required to provide WestJet with court orders indicating which parent or guardian has the legal right to establish the address of the minor.
- Only the amount actually paid to WestJet or WestJet Vacations will be considered in the calculation of Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend. If multiple seats are purchased or reserved for one traveller on the same flight or vacation package, only the amount actually paid to WestJet or WestJet Vacations will be considered as eligible toward the calculation of Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend.
- For determining Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend on transactions in non-Canadian currency, the relevant amounts will be converted to Canadian currency by WestJet at a conversion rate determined by WestJet in its sole discretion.
- Tier Qualifying Spend, Milestone Qualifying Spend and WestJet dollars will be updated once the flight or vacation package has been completed. Please allow 30 business days for the Tier Qualifying Spend, Milestone Qualifying Spend and WestJet dollars, if applicable, to be posted into your account after the completion of travel.
- Tier Qualifying Spend, Milestone Qualifying Spend and WestJet dollars will not be awarded in the case of refunded, void or unused tickets, including unused non-refundable tickets. Tier Qualifying Spend, Milestone Qualifying Spend and WestJet dollars will also not be awarded if the member is considered a no-show for the flight or vacation package booking.
- If you are re-accommodated by WestJet or WestJet Vacations to another WestJet- or partner-operated flight, Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend will be based on the original eligible dollar value of your flight or vacation package. In the event your new flight is operated by a non-partner airline that does not participate in WestJet Rewards®, Tier Qualifying Spend, Milestone Qualifying Spend and WestJet dollars will not be awarded. If you have purchased a WestJet Eligible Fare and you are missing WestJet dollars and/or Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend due to a flight re-accommodation on a partner airline, please visit the WestJet Rewards flight earn request for flight re-accommodation page.
- WestJet may also offer incentives based on accumulated Tier Qualifying Spend and/or Milestone Qualifying Spend in a Qualifying Year. Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend will continue to accrue in a Qualifying Year if earned in that Qualifying Year, even if any or all of the WestJet dollars associated earned on that Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend have been redeemed. Please visit www.westjet.com/rewards to find out more about the specific incentives and corresponding Tier Qualifying Spend and/or Milestone Qualifying Spend milestones required to obtain each incentive. WestJet reserves the right to change the available incentives, reward levels and milestones at any time with or without notice.
- Specific details regarding Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend, the specific conditions for accumulating Tier Qualifying Spend and Milestone Qualifying Spend, reward levels and milestones are available at www.westjet.com/rewards.
- Individual rewards issued by the Reward Program, which include WestJet dollars, Companion Vouchers, World Elite Companion Vouchers and Credit Card Companion Vouchers, Flight Benefit vouchers, or any other vouchers, are personal and cannot be assigned, sold, traded, willed or otherwise transferred except in accordance with these terms and conditions. Any assignment or transfer in violation of these rules will be void and may, at the discretion of WestJet result in the loss of membership in WestJet Rewards® or the cancellation of any WestJet rewards.
- You may transfer WestJet dollars to another member, subject to a transfer fee of $50 plus applicable taxes. You may use your WestJet dollars to purchase a booking for another individual so long as you make the booking on behalf of the other individual.
- Effective June 6, 2017, Base Rewards (as defined herein) will not expire due to the passage of time. WestJet dollars will be maintained in the member's account and may be redeemed at any time in accordance with these terms and conditions.
- Effective June 6, 2017, Bonus Rewards (as defined herein) will expire on the individual date(s) specified in the terms or conditions of the promotion, contest or compensation initiative or, in the absence of such terms and conditions, then expiry will be one (1) year from date of issuance. Once the expiry date is reached the Bonus Rewards will expire and cannot be redeemed. Extension of Bonus Rewards is not permitted. Members may view certain applicable expiry dates for Bonus Rewards by signing into their account at westjet.com/account.
- Companion Vouchers awarded as a result of achieving certain Milestone Qualifying Spend milestones in the Reward Program expire one year from date of issue. Companion Voucher bookings must be made prior to the expiry date; travel may occur after the expiry date subject to flight schedule availability at the time of booking.
- World Elite Companion Vouchers and Credit Card Companion Vouchers awarded from activity on a WestJet Credit Card expire one year from date of issue. World Elite Companion Voucher and Credit Card Companion Voucher bookings must be made prior to the expiry date; travel may occur after the expiry date subject to flight schedule availability at the time of booking.
- If a WestJet Credit Card account is closed, unused World Elite Companion Vouchers and Credit Card Companion Vouchers associated with the WestJet Credit Card will automatically expire.
- Flight Benefits awarded as a result of achieving certain Tier Qualifying Spend levels in the Reward Program are valid for the remainder of the Qualifying Year in which they were awarded until the end of the member's next Qualifying Year. Exceptions may apply when Flight Benefits are awarded to a member on a promotional basis.
- You may redeem WestJet dollars in whole amounts accumulated in your account at the time of booking against: (1) WestJet Eligible Fares on WestJet-Marketed Flights; (2) UltraBasic fares on WestJet-Marketed Flights; (3) Member Exclusive Fares on WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flights; (4) WestJet Vacations Eligible Packages; 5) WestJet Vacations Land-Only Bookings; 6) Sunwing Vacations Eligible Packages; or 7) WestJet Vacations Quebec Eligible Packages. No retroactive application of WestJet dollars will be permitted. Unless specifically specified by WestJet, WestJet dollars cannot be redeemed toward taxes, charges or other fees.
- WestJet dollars must be redeemed through one of the following channels: www.westjet.com, WestJet contact centres, sunwing.ca, Sunwing Vacations contact centre or WestJet Vacations Quebec contact centre.
- Minimum redemption rules apply and vary by booking type: (1) A minimum of 15 WestJet dollars per guest, per each origin to destination on the booking, must be redeemed toward the base fare when redeeming WestJet dollars on a WestJet Eligible Fare or UltraBasic fare; (2) the entire base fare for all guests on the booking must be paid with WestJet dollars when redeeming WestJet dollars on a Member Exclusive Fare; or (3) a minimum of 50 WestJet dollars per booking applies when redeeming WestJet dollars on a WestJet Vacations Eligible Package, WestJet Vacations Land-Only Booking, Sunwing Vacations Eligible Package or WestJet Vacations Quebec Eligible Package.
- WestJet dollars may be redeemed on individual bookings only; WestJet dollars cannot be redeemed on group flight or group vacation package bookings.
- Given the flexibility of WestJet dollars redemption on WestJet Eligible Fares or UltraBasic fares, no blackout periods or inventory management apply. There are no open-jaw, multi-city or stop-over restrictions on WestJet Eligible Fares or UltraBasic fares. Blackout periods and inventory management apply for WestJet dollars redemption on Member Exclusive Fares.
- Once WestJet dollars are accumulated in your account, as described above, they are available to be used until such time as they expire as described in these terms and conditions.
- Companion Vouchers, World Elite Companion Vouchers and Credit Card Companion Vouchers are issued in the member's name and must be redeemed for WestJet-Marketed and-Operated Flights in accordance with the voucher allowances. To redeem, the member must make the booking and be travelling on the same itinerary as their travelling companion.
- Flight Benefits are issued in the member's name and are available for redemption only when travelling on WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flights. Flight Benefits may be used by the member only, unless specifically stated otherwise. See westjet.com/rewards for details.
- Changes to bookings towards which WestJet dollars were applied on WestJet Eligible Fares are permitted, subject to WestJet’s standard change policy. Standard change fees will apply and any additional amount owing (including base fare) may not be paid using WestJet dollars. See westjet.com/fees for details.
- Changes to bookings towards which WestJet dollars were applied on an UltraBasic fare are not permitted. UltraBasic fares are non-refundable with no changes allowed, nor credits issued.
- Effective November 4, 2021, changes to bookings towards which WestJet dollars were applied on a Member Exclusive Fare on a WestJet-Marketed and Operated Flight are permitted, subject to WestJet’s standard change policy and standard change fees will apply. See westjet.com/fees for details. For changes on a Member Exclusive Fare, the original booking will be cancelled and a new booking made, subject to Member Exclusive Fare availability. If a Member Exclusive Fare is not available, the booking will be cancelled and the WestJet dollars redeemed towards that booking will be reinstated to your account. The original expiration date associated with those WestJet dollars will continue to apply.
- Cancellations to bookings toward which WestJet dollars were applied on a WestJet Eligible Fare or a Member Exclusive Fare are permitted, as per WestJet's standard cancel policy and standard cancellation fees will apply. See westjet.com/fees for details. The WestJet dollars amount redeemed towards that booking will be reinstated to your account. The original expiration date associated with those WestJet dollars will continue to apply.
- Cancellations to bookings toward which WestJet dollars were applied on an UltraBasic fare are not permitted, except within 24 hours of initial booking. Otherwise, UltraBasic fares are non-refundable with no changes allowed, nor credits issued.
- WestJet may, in its sole discretion, terminate WestJet Rewards® at any time. Termination of WestJet Rewards® will be made by providing thirty (30) days' notice.
- WestJet may, in its sole discretion, restrict, suspend, amend, extend or otherwise alter WestJet Rewards® or certain aspects of WestJet Rewards®, with or without notice.
- Where notice is given pursuant to any section of these terms and conditions, it will be via email notification and/or a notice posted on the WestJet website (found at www.westjet.com). Notwithstanding the foregoing, publication of the current terms and conditions on the website shall be deemed notice of such terms and conditions.
- All decisions regarding the interpretation of these terms and conditions and the administration of WestJet Rewards®, and any disputes arising there from, shall be resolved by WestJet in its sole discretion.
- WestJet assumes no liability to you whatsoever, including without limitation, liability by reason of the termination of or amendment to WestJet Rewards® in whole or in part, limitations on the use of WestJet dollars or any change to reward levels.
- WestJet is not liable for the product or delivery of service of any partner, including, without limitation, the issuer for the WestJet Credit Cards, points.com or any other authorized reseller of WestJet dollars.
- In no event shall WestJet's liability with respect to WestJet Rewards®, including liability for negligence or breach of contract, be greater than the WestJet dollars accumulated to your account at the time the dispute arose.
- Any waiver by WestJet of the strict observance, performance or compliance of these terms and conditions and any extension of time or other indulgence granted by WestJet, either expressly or by course of conduct, shall not alter, affect or prejudice any of WestJet's rights or remedies and shall be effective only in the specific instance and for the purpose for which it was given and shall be deemed not to be a waiver of any of WestJet's rights and remedies arising in respect of any other breach of these terms and conditions. No delay or omission by WestJet in exercising any right or remedy hereunder shall operate as a waiver of that or any other right or remedy.
- WestJet Rewards® shall be governed by the laws of the province of Alberta and the laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes regarding WestJet Rewards® or in any way arising out of membership in WestJet Rewards® shall be submitted to the courts of Alberta whose courts shall have jurisdiction to hear such disputes, or the Canadian Transportation Agency who can resolve disputes related to the terms and conditions of carriage set out in this tariff.
- WestJet dollars and special offers are subject to applicable government regulations and are void where prohibited by law.
- By creating a new account with WestJet that includes enrolment into WestJet Rewards® or adding WestJet Rewards® to an existing account and/or using or accumulating WestJet dollars for the first time, you: (1) certify that you are over the age of majority in the province in which you reside; (2) for applicants that are minor children, you are the parent or guardian of the applicant ; (3) consent to WestJet's collection and use of the certain personal information as set out in these terms and conditions and WestJet's privacy policy; and (4) agree to the terms and conditions of WestJet Rewards®, as they may be amended from time to time.
