Travel requirements can vary based on your origin, destination, vaccination status, and the passport you hold. To ensure a smooth journey, please check that: 

You’re aware of all current ID requirements.
Your passport is up-to-date. 
You have completed any mandatory pre-boarding forms.
You have reviewed our current travel advisories for location of event specific disruptions.
If you’re traveling outside of Canada, you’ve reviewed the Government of Canada’s official Travel Advice and Advisories for your destination.

Baggage

Review baggage guidelines to pack efficiently and avoid unexpected fees.

Explore baggage information on size, weight, pet travel, and more.
Check baggage fees based on your fare and route.
Note: Carry-on baggage is not permitted with UltraBasic fare.

Ensure your carry-on meets our size and weight allowances.
Place toiletries and liquids in a clear plastic bag for easy security screening.
Limit liquids, aerosols, and gels to containers of 100 ml/100 grams or less.
Keep prescription medicine in your carry-on, ideally in original bottles if traveling internationally.
Pack an empty water bottle to fill after security.
Bring travel-size, high-protein snacks like trail mix or protein bars for long trips or delays.
Store jewelry in a small pouch or case to keep items organized and tangle-free.
Use packing cubes to organize clothes by category (e.g., daytime, evening, dirty).
Roll clothes instead of folding to save space.

We understand lost baggage makes travel frustrating and stressful. We will do everything we can to find your bag and return it to you as quickly as possible. If you find yourself in this situation, please follow these steps:

Notify a WestJet Customer Service Agent at the airport or create a baggage report.
Once your report has been created, you can check the status.
Your report will be updated when the bag is received at the destination airport, and when it is out for delivery. Email notifications with this information may also be sent as well. Make sure to check junk/spam emails. 
Should you incur out-of-pocket expenses for a delayed or damaged baggage incident within our control, you may submit a request to WestJet for reimbursement.

Check in 

72 hours before your flight, you will receive an email reminder with important travel information.
Check in opens 24 hours before departure. At that time, you'll receive a follow-up email with access to complete your check in.
You can complete the check in process through Manage trips or via the WestJet app. This allows you to select your seat, download your boarding pass, and save time at the airport.
If needed, explore other check in options , such as self-service kiosks or the check in counter at the airport.

Bring your travel documents: Know the ID requirements for your destination.
Review baggage allowances and fees: Check any baggage allowances to avoid any extra fees or surprises at the airport.
Pre-pay and save: Prepay for up to two checked bags on WestJet-operated and marketed flights when booking online or anytime before your flight through Manage trips.

Airport terminal: Find airport terminal information for all WestJet destinations.
Domestic travel: Arrive at the airport 120 minutes before departure for domestic flights within Canada. 
International travel: Arrive at the airport 150 minutes before departure for international flights. 
Check security wait times: For Canadian departures, review current estimates on the CATSA website. Plan to give yourself more time to clear security if needed.
Airport lounges: We've partnered with airport lounges located all over Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Asia to provide you with comfortable seating, business facilities, Wi-Fi, snacks, beverages and more before your flight.
Device readiness: Ensure your devices are fully charged before boarding.
Entertainment preparations: Some WestJet flights do not support WestJet Connect, our inflight entertainment system. Download your favorite podcasts, movies, or shows in advance just in case.

Inflight entertainment: Using the WestJet app, access hundreds of movies and TV shows.
