Stay away from this resort!

Rahul G on Jul 16, 2024

We paid a bomb ($800 a night) for this all inclusive resort during the cricket world cup finals time. Our experience at this place was nothing short of regretful. To start with, the rooms do not have a centralized A/C and comes with a split A/C that hardly does the job. During our two night stay, we were airways carrying a towel to wipe the sweat off. We requested for a tower/table fan at least 4 times and they did not even respond. After getting frustrated on the call, they simply said they don't carry it and shunned the call. This is not really a resort resort that you can imagine. This is hardly a hotel by the beach side. There are absolutely no activities to be performed or a private beach. It is just stacked in between other hotels inline. The drinks are the worst. They carry the cheapest of the stock and you wouldn't even feel like drinking them. They carry cheap brands that common folks would not have even heard of. Absolute waste. Food is decent but the restaurant closes at 9:30. pm Seriously?? All inclusive resort and there is no food after 9!!! This is a shame ! The service people are good and that's the only thing that comes remotely closely to being good. Absolutely avoid this resort unless you want to go through this torture. There are a lot of decent hotels like Hilton that costs less and you can buy decent food and drinks and will still be less expensive than this place.

Barbados yes, this resort, sadly no.

Check that your room cools down before you commit to it. Otherwise request a colder room. Several travellers including us had overly warm rooms. Barbados is a beautiful country with kind people. Restaurant staff was amazing with the exception of Collin’s where we were mostly met with coldness. If I return to Barbados it won’t be to this resort due to the hotel room cleanliness. I know with 100% certainly on at least one occasion the maid refolded several of our dirty towels that were left on the floor. After that we started to stain them to make it obvious. This is completely unsanitary! Felt like we had a new maid everyday, to be fair, one of them was amazing and went the extra mile but the rest didn’t. Room mostly felt dirty. Also it’s very obvious that they have a lack of bedding and towels across the resort - beach and room. Felt rationed. The signature room itself doesn’t have drawers for your clothing, only hangers.. And cubbies. Bathroom you only get two towels per day for two people. You can also request more. Room lacked luxurious feel and amenities. There’s a fridge that is empty always unless you go request drinks yourself and take them up. Even if you request to have it filled, they say they will daily, but never did. None of the doors in the room close properly including the front which is not ideal. The beach is not pristine but they will do theirs best to clean your area from seaweed. The ocean is rocky so bring water shoes otherwise you will be stepping on rocks the entire time. You will need to ask to have umbrellas set up so keep that in mind. The scenery is pretty, but small. This is a small resort which is fine. Makes getting around easier. Entertainment was mostly nightly singers. Food was amazing across the board. No coffee shop just a coffee station and it wasn’t the greatest quality or taste. Tasted very artificial. Loved Barbados, did not love the accommodations. Next time will choose wiser on where to stay.

Couples trip to Barbados

deborahpecci (Dumont, New Jersey) on Jun 29, 2024

Overall we really liked Sugar Bay. It’s a smaller resort with less than 150 rooms. We are seasoned veterans to all inclusives in the Caribbean having gone to more than a dozen different resorts over the years. Staff - very friendly and helpful, we had good experiences with the front desk helping when an excursion transport that didn’t show, helpful bellman , very friendly waitstaff and bartenders. The water sport staff who set up umbrellas weren’t as polite, complaining about being overworked and telling us to go sit down and they’ll get to us. There’s a sign up for water sport staff to take you to a nearby beach to see the race horses run in the ocean, but they didn’t show so a front desk person took us. Food- only 2 sit down dinner restaurants (Asia and Steak) the food at both is very good but you can only go to each once without paying an additional fee. The steak restaurant lacks ventilation and so was a bit uncomfortable. However, the buffet is outstanding, better than any all inclusive we’ve ever been to. The selection was more limited than we are used to but the quality was much better and with a different theme each night the food varied. In the end we were fine with only 2 restaurants. There’s a self serve coffee machine available all day rather than a cafe which was disappointing for us big coffee drinkers. Room - we had a really nice signature pool view room that actually was situated near the Terrace pass through to the beach so had a partial beach view too. The square room was clean and looked recently updated, the bathroom was modern and had a strong overhead rain shower head. Our maid was great, kept our refrigerator stocked(only done on request and at no charge) and mopped the floor daily. Water- one large pool with a swim up bar was well cleaned every morning. Also a separate tiny kiddy pool. We prefer the beach but this was our biggest disappointment. The beachfront is a little more than a tenth of a mile long. The resort sits on the Atlantic side of the island, they built a rock wall maybe 75 yards out that acts as a wave breaker to calm the water which works well. However there was a lot of seaweed most days in the water and on the beach and they didn’t clean it off the beach, which was disappointing. We have been to other resorts that had staff out early every morning clearing any seaweed off the beach. Entertainment - Except for one night, the only entertainment is music. Once a week there's a carribean show.

Staff awesome

Loved this hotel. Great variety of food and the staff were absolutely brilliant. You feel special when you stay here. Would definitely go back with the family next time. Great ambiance and the evening entertainment were really good. Love the fact you can also try four different restaurants as well.

EXACTLY WHAT WAS NEEDED

MSKARLA (STATEN ISLAND, NEW YORK) on Jun 26, 2024

First time to resort for daughter and I, we enjoyed a beautiful relaxing vacay in an oceanfront room. Room wasn't available upon check in and we were advised to go to little restaurant on beach called Collins. This restaurant is were met the wonderful waitress Kay, so charming and friendly. I also fell in love with the Mahi-Mahi . We were also introduced to a mango/strawberry which was delish. after enjoying lunch informed our room was ready. The room was comfortable and spacious. I had requested twin beds ( which I assumed was euphemism for double) it was not they were actual twin beds- which I haven't slept slept in in over 30 years., daughter and I made the best of it. The shower provided a challenge to us- could not figure out how to use it even with information from reception desk- still had to have one of the host at desk come up and demonstrate it :) , after that it was smooth sailing. The room provided a nice quite respite, enjoyed relaxing on balcony looking out to beach area. At breakfast next morning, after finding out that it was my daughters birthday the staff presented her with a happy birthday cupcake and bottle of champagne and they singed happy birthday to her, the happy birthday greeting and cupcake was again repeated on the beach. The staff from receptionists, waitress, bar staff were all welcoming and friendly. The majority of the mornings at breakfast we were served by the sweet and delightful Keshawaa, what a beautiful soul. I found all the meals -from the buffet to the a la carte very good. There is something for every's taste. The Sizzle steak house is an up-charge-however food was very good. Umi restaurant also very good no upcharge. It was very relaxing on the beach and around the pool. This resort was selected to provide a relaxing and peaceful getaway and it certainly provided that. If one is looking for a relaxing place and not the party party scene this is it. My daughter and I enjoyed her wonderful birthday dinner at Champers. A trip to Savvy on the Bay was also great- enjoyed the best macaroni pie ever at one of the food trucks.
