Beautiful lobby, good service, musty rooms, awful food

I do not recommend, unfortunately, but this is also the first Cancún resort I have been to. I expected fabulous food and expansive pools and property, but it was not that. The lobby and main areas are mostly really updated and nicely kept, but the rooms are so damp and musty we had to switch 3x and get an extra fan. The food (except the cafe and the hibachi restaurant) was really subpar. It felt like eating at Golden Corral 3x a day. The service was lovely and the staff was lovely, but the small pools me at it was always overcrowded with no chairs available. We had a wonderful time with our friend group, but very much wished the resort experience was different. It’s about a 3 star ?? hotel - we were hoping for 4 ?? at minimum.

I organized this trip for my boyfriend's 47 birthday. Before getting there I chatted with the concierge Carlos, which despite his late responses and ghosting at some days, he delivered all the decorations than I requested in the room. I also requested a romantic dinner the day of the birthday, let me tell you…this is A WHOLE EXPERIENCE! Antonio was our server and he’s very into details, he even made a small cake for my boyfriend and customized it wishing him happy birthday. We also saw Antonio’s dedication when setting up a wedding the day after, he is the one making everything more special. Alex at the beach offered me a Bali bed, him and our server Alejandro made our relaxing day at the beach PERFECT ??. The Bali bed comes with bottle service and food from the Preferred club, we didn’t expect it and it was a nice plus! Janet our server at the beach was also very attentive and fulfilled crazy requests. Our room maid was very nice, I didn’t catch her name. And Vianney from room service was extremely patient, always in a good mood and efficient. When we were leaving, my boyfriend and I stared at the ocean at tears came out, we didn’t want to leave! Let me clarify, I’ve been to Cancun 16 times and this is by far the best beach and the BEST SERVICE I’ve ever gotten!
