The brand new Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Cancun is an adults-only, beachfront resort located next door to the Iberostar Selection Cancun Hotel and the Iberostar Golf Club Cancun. Disappointed in all inclusive definition at this resort

Here now, second night. Disappointed. All inclusive isn’t what it was last time we stayed at an Iberostar in Mexico. Not enough resources and staff to accommodate the number of guests. That’s including pool space and chairs, beach chairs, capacity in restaurants other than buffet, bartenders, wait staff. If you aren’t in line at restaurants at 6 PM you won’t get a table. If you make a reservation at the hibachi & arrive on time you might find out that your reservation is for the next night. Be sure to get a ticket, ask if you aren’t offered a ticket! Beware that concierge is a time share salesperson & breakfast meetings are time share pitches. OK if that’s what you want but don’t be surprised like we were. Beautiful setting, rooms, etc and very nice and accommodating staff doing the best they can. Business model appears to be promise a lot and deliver the minimum. We will choose another resort next time.
Relaxing at Iberostar anniversary trip

We had an amazing time at Iberostar Selection Cancun. It was our 25th Wedding anniversary and we wanted something special, and we got it. The whole hotel smelled fragrant and was a delight to the senses. We stayed in a Premium Ocean View with Balcony. I loved my balcony. I had a view of the ocean and lagoon and just enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching nature. We were asked how things were going at least 3 times to make sure we were satisfied. We speak both English and Spanish and found the staff were very fluent in English. If you did not speak Spanish you would have no problem here. The staff were very courteous and so attentive. They gave us a special anniversary dessert and congratulated us multiple times. We found the food to be suprisingly good. Even the buffet had some really good things, we especially loved the cut fruit (mango, mango, mango so ripe and delicious), ceviche, and breakfast omlettes. The first chef seemed to be new and his omlettes were a bit different but our last two days had an omlette veteran at the station and she was really good. The a la carte restaurants were really good for an all inclusive. We enjoyed the Hibachi, steak house and Mexican food. We found the food to be very tasty. As someone who is lactose intolerant, I found the staff to take my food intolerance very seriously. They made sure I was safe and it was one of the best experiences. They made my plates special and I did not have to spend time in gastrointestinal distress. Not all places have this much attention to detail and special dietary needs. The beach was beautiful but unfortunately the seaweed was plentiful. It was just the luck of the draw. We stayed by the pool since there were red flags every day we were there and there was a strong undertow. We loved the infinity pool and found it to be very relaxing. The waterpark for the kids was nice, but the parents seemed to not like to take their kids there and had them in the adult pool instead. We did have to get up early to get good pool seats and would like to see a little more shade and available chairs around the pool. This wasn't our first rodeo so we knew the drill. The live entertainment was great. I loved the saxophone player. There was a live band, dancers, singers and plenty of activities. At least twice there was a singer at the buffet. I wish I could have seen one of the later shows, but getting up early had me flagging before I could catch one of the late night shows. My husband is the drinker and he would have preferred some more beer choices but he enjoyed the mini bar beer (Heineken) and mostly had wine. I love smoothies and at one point got fresh fruit from the buffet to get a specially made smoothie. It was delicious, but I don't think they have a custom of making smoothies in Mexico. It is an all inclusive so we weren't expecting top notch alcohol so we weren't disappointed. The ultimate question is would we return, and yes we would. We thought the staff was exceptionally good, the hotel really clean, and the food was good, paticularly, the a la carte restaurants. We might try a villa next time but we loved our room with the balcony and view. I'd be hard pressed to give that up. One con we did find was that the elevators were really hot. That seemed to be a design flaw as there wasn't air conditioning on the elevators and the sun beamed into the open concept see through not tinted enough glass. This was just a minor inconvenience since we never spent much time in the elevators. I also have to give a shout out to Rigel at the front desk who patiently showed me upgrade options and the lady IT specialists who helped to connect my laptop to the network.
