Fabulous hotel- people need to stop moaning and have some respect

brookie0079 (Rothwell, United Kingdom) on May 10, 2024

Fabulous hotel- people need to stop moaning is my summary! The grounds are fabulous, absolutely immaculate; they do a great job in keeping the place 5 star We stayed Punta Cana side, facing the main pool; lots of space for 4 of us, including 3 beds (we did move room as the first room only had 2 beds) every day the mini bar was stocked, everything was cleaned well- a couple of days we had no towels; we phoned reception and 10 mins later we had them! Food- there were 8 of us in our group, we booked 5 nights restaurants before arriving, no issue what so ever- the lovely ladies on the guest services then booked the remainder of our 14 night stay, over the course of the holiday. Every night we got a booking in a restaurant, we never went to the buffet at night, and always got a 7.30 table; couldn't ask for more! The restaurants did vary; 80% we excellent, El Dorado the steak was a little unusual but those who had chicken were fine and the Italian. Now this is the only critism, the service was not good, the food wasn't great and it was soooo hot inside! We did not go hungry, we ate sufficiently and just didn't go back- there are so many options this is not a problem! The pools were excellent, we rotated between Palace and PC; both have different vibes but you certainly won't get bored! The only thing that I didn't like was the Saturday we were there, lots and I mean lots of people descended the pool as it become some sort of pool club scene- lots of people very drunk, inappropriate dancing going on where children where; why this was not at the adults only pool I don't know as it seems odd to do it where the kids are! Service was good all round- the lady on the food truck could do with some customer service training as well as showing how to cook quicker due to the volume of people waiting- 40 mins for chicken tacos is a bit crazy and she was really unhappy but maybe that's a sign of other things....who knows! The entertainers were excellent during the day- the kids club was fab! Evening entertainment in the theatre was a bit rubbish- nothing like Rivieria Maya and the white party on the beach, not family friendly due to adults pushing kids out of the way to see, no respect for the kids and the drug dealers on the beach.....not great but I guess difficult to police! Overall we had such a great time- amazing weather, hotel and the beaches in March/early April were excellent! What I would say is the way some guests speak is disgusting- witnessing some incredibly rude, obnoxious Americans being demanding, disrespectful and rude to such lovely staff is just appalling then they have the cheek to give them 10 dollar tip; like that makes it acceptable! In the UK, we treat people with dignity and respect that we would expect, it goes much further than the redness we heard despite the money they might throw at them, to compensate!

Nice to look at, awful to experience.

I stayed at the TRS in Mexico and had a great experience. We wanted to bring our children, so we couldn’t stay in the all adults-inclusive section at TRS in DR. The Grand Palladium is a horrible hotel. We were a family of four who stayed for 7 nights and couldn’t leave soon enough. Every experience we had with the hotel was disappointing or completely frustrating. The staff appear to be trying and seem interested in providing service, but they either slow, have no response, or have insufficient training and only move when you offer to tip. The room was downgraded so that we could stay close to our teenagers’ rooms. As somebody here said before, the real thing is nothing like the pictures. The room was not the cleanest, the same as the bathroom. The stuff is unprofessional, they mostly don’t care and are very slow at their work. No consistency. Management needs to supervise actively. Some people slacking while only some worked. The casino is small and gross. Another issue- is the food. It all looks amazing, and at first glance, you are super impressed, but it is horrible. Every dish we have tried, from pasta to meats, is massively overloaded with "salt", undercooked, overcooked, and/or sitting outside with flies all around. No pancakes or syrup in the morning. Options were limited. We could not get any dinner reservations the first two nights. Finally, after many complaints, I was able to get reservations for a few nights, but they were all at 5:45-6 pm. The prime time when everyone was napping, we had to get ready for dinner for the early bird special. I also had to repeatedly go back to the front desk to get reservations for that night. There was nothing to do after dinner at 7pm until 9-9:30pm when they provided family-friendly shows every evening at the Bavaro which was a highlight of the trip. The coffee line always had 10 people online waiting for coffee. They needed more help. While the gym had cleaning ladies wiping the same mirrors over and over again. You need fewer people at the gym. The drinks were sub-par. You could only get a bartender when you showed them cash for a tip. Liquors were not available at certain bars. There were no Baileys today and no Beefeater yesterday. White wine was limited to Chardonnay. My teenagers were bored out of their minds. The pool boys repeatedly played the same songs and games over and over again every day. It was an absolute waste of money. It appears this place is being run by people who have no experience in the hospitality industry. FYI, it's a good idea to check with guests periodically to see how things are going and attempt to rectify problems while they’re still on site. You sent me a text on Whatsapp saying you received a negative comment from me, and that was the only reason I was helped and got reservations while there at 5-6 p.m. We left as very unhappy guests who vowed never to set foot on that property again.
