My husband and I stayed for 10 nights in the Colonial part of the hotel. Overall we had an amazing holiday. The only downside being the hotel room. This was very dated & not particularly clean. Other holidaymakers, in the same area, had the same opinion. I believe a refurb is on the cards. Our room felt damp & I’ve had to throw away some items on return from holiday. We considered the food to be good with a wide range of choice in the main buffet restaurant and the pre-bookable restaurants. The staff were all very welcoming & worked extremely hard. We spent days between the main pool (lively) and the wonderful secret pool (sshhh) which was much more relaxing. The daily barman was very friendly and attentive. It was absolutely wonderful to see Monkeys, Raccoons & Iguanas in the grounds of the hotel. It definitely felt like we were in a jungle. The daily golf buggy pick ups to the various parts of the hotels were great fun too. The Colonial lobby gets very noisy of an evening due to most of the entertainment being held there. Very hard to chat but there are other lobby bars for a quieter drink or two. We visited Isla Mejeres via Johnathan at the Trip booking desk. Was a great day out and the beach was beautiful. Would recommend. We also booked the Bravo show, through the hotel, which was a good evening. The DJ made it for us. He is very talented. Good value for money. Missing our holiday already!
Clean and friendly beware of food times

Currently staying in room1818… dated but clean room… be prepared from the minute you arrive for constant requests to pay for an upgraded room (next to a building site) . Breakfast… till 11am however if you eating out they won’t serve you after 10:45 (much to the annoyance of my 16 year old son…who was hungry! Steakhouse… well seasoned food but served tepid at best! Not good enough Hotel, grounds and pool are clean and well serviced but be mindful not to use the four post beds as we made that mistake And I was pestered to pay $35 for the privilege! (Uplift cost Not sign posted) very much 4 * experience certainly not 5*
