Time to update or stop renting!

Well it was a sales excursion where you must attend a sales presentation. We expected to see what they were selling... which they showed us but didn't provide lodging there! Our room was C-... the toilet stayed running unless you giggled the handle...every time! The sink made loud gurgling sounds. The shower head was 70's style and needed replacing. The soaps were unpleasant smelling. For what we paid we didn't receive our value. The patio doors had a film on them which made them appear smeared and dirty even after we watched them come and wash them! The view was ocean and very pleasant.

Much More to be Desired and Even More to be Explored

As usual, Hilton does well with their treatment of their loyal Diamond members. The Hilton staff were super friendly bestowing the warm spirit of Aloha while I was there. I look forward to coming back to this resort again. A big shout out and accolades go out to the maintenance staff and the housekeeping staff. Honorable mention goes to our room attendant, Ann. She kept our little coffee amenities full and stocked with the extra sugar that we requested. It is the coffee island after all. I was upgraded from the Palace tower to the Makai tower with a view of the on-site dolphin pen in the lagoon and beach views. The room had a balcony where I could sit and enjoy my morning coffee and watch the dolphins or listen to the waves crashing nearby. I left my balcony door open to listen to the soothing waves crash upon the shore while falling asleep. It’s an experience that I highly recommend. The sunset views are perfect from this side as well. The ONLY 2 gripes that I have were with the plumbing and the boats. This particular resort prides itself on its both and tram and boats that take you around the resort. Be mindful as the tram is EXTREMELY slow. You can outwalk it if you’re in a hurry. The boats were out of commission while I was there, and I stayed there for a total of 7-9 days. Needless to say, this was definitely a bummer and definitely disappointing. We also had an issue with the plumbing in our bathroom. Sometimes, I like to bring my bubble baths and body salts to soak in the tub and do my own spa treatments on my skin. The tub stopper was jammed, and it required the maintenance staff to come back and fix this issue on two separate occasions with heavy tools. They had to remove and change the affected plumbing fixture on the second visit. The first time they stopped by was after 9pm. My mom was asleep at this time. The second time was in the morning while we were out of the room. While I applaud the Hilton’s response on this, this lets me know that they don't perform regular inspections on the rooms and bathrooms. Now, let’s talk about food. I would recommend getting most of your meals off of the resort at the nearby King and Queen Markets because it’s VERY expensive eating on the resort. They have a nearby grocery store and movie theater in those shopping areas. Now let’s talk about amenities. Take advantage of the saltwater lagoon. Rumor has it that they let the dolphins out to play EARLY in the morning. Also, take advantage of the pool. It has several grotto hideaways where you can just chill out and enjoy the cool shade of the grotto and a slide that you can ride. The hotel also advertises its own luau called the “Legends of Hawaii” on location near the Makai towers. It was definitely beautiful and enjoyable and I HIGHLY recommend the experience, but you can probably find this experience elsewhere and for cheaper with less people if you research around. The cost for 2 adults was $600. Remember, you pay the price for convenience when you want to have everything on location at the resort. Food is included with the price. It was a buffet bbq. I definitely enjoyed my stay and it was an overall enjoyable experience. A few slightly disappointing hiccups didn't put a total damper on the trip. Even IF it was, I promise you readers that a disappointing stay in Hawaii beats any day at the office. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and enjoyable experience and I look forward to staying again in the future, but this time with the boats and plumbing up and functioning. Aloha, mahalo and enjoy!
