Beautiful resort just some hospitality kinks to work on
Sandy G on Mar 21, 2025
The resort is beautiful pools are nice and beach is amazing. No fighting over beach or pool chairs in the morning and the resort was never overcrowded. Just a few issues I had. First the housekeeping come...s at 8am and starts knocking on doors the doors are not sound proof so you hear them chatting all morning in the hallway. Second the some of the women at the front desk need to work on their hospitality. When I asked for late checkout I got major attitude and was told no you were told when you checked in to give us 24 hours notice. So bold in arguing. Second when I went to checkout my 18 year old son had left on an earlier flights and was not with me. I got a huge lecture on he needs to be there to cut his bracelet off I need to charge you. I said I was never aware of this rule and she got really rude and said yes they told you at check in. I asked the other families we were with and they were not told either. She eventually claimed that he did check out but I really don’t know. If I could have avoided the front desk women I would have left in a happier mood when departing. Restaurants are good, food good drinks good. Overall nice trip.
A great relaxing beach holiday!
waynem604 (Vancouver, Canada) on Mar 17, 2025
My wife and I traveled with another couple hoping for a nice relaxing beach holiday, and the Divi delivered. If you’re looking for a party resort, this isn’t it. We never go to the same resort twice, but t...his might be the one that breaks that rule! ROOM We stayed in the Vista 1 building which was close to everything. The room was spacious, with a nice large bathroom with two sinks and a large shower that worked very well. Air conditioning also worked well. Plenty of room for all our stuff. Grade: A GROUNDS Clean, compact, well laid out, although not much lush foliage we’ve seen on other islands. They have water stations everywhere so very easy to stay hydrated. Grade: B+ BEACH Just like you see in other reviews - stellar, doesn’t get any better. We’re beach people rather than pool people, so this is where we lived daytime. Had to get up early to save the palapa we wanted, would like there to be more available. Grade: A+ FOOD Their buffet restaurant (The Pelican) is mostly “live cooking,” i.e., made while you wait, but it’s quick and fresh so worked well. Many options there for breakfast (greater variety than we’ve seen at most other resorts) - including French crepes which were fantastic! - and the Pelican was the only viable option for lunch. We ate most dinners at the a la carte restaurants, which on the whole were better than most resorts we’ve been to, although not stellar. A few of the restaurants were at the companion Tamarijn resort, which was quick to get to. My wife is gluten free and this was hit and miss overall. Ample protein and veggie options, and most a la carte restaurants had gluten free bread, but the Pelican buffet only sometimes had gluten free bread. Easy to make restaurant reservations thru the concierge in the lobby, but recommend making reservations for your first 2-3 nights using the Divi app. Very good cafe with pastries. It closes at noon, would be nice if it stayed open later. Grade: A SERVICE The concierges were very helpful, and the staff in the restaurants were fun and quirky. A few of the staff were disinterested, but overall no real complaints. Grade: B ENTERTAINMENT The entertainment was much more subdued than most resorts we’ve been to. They had some local dancers by the pool and a different live band each night, also by the pool. Grade: C
