Somewhat disappointed

I will start off by saying, I do like the size of this hotel. It is not a resort as it lacks in many things that a true resort offers. The other really nice thing is it’s location. Close to many restaura...nts and shops in Grace Bay. The beach is nice, the hotel has chairs and umbrellas in a area that is for the hotel. But it is not private and people not staying at the hotel apparently can set up for the day anywhere within the hotel designated area with their umbrellas and chairs. The transportation to and from the hotel to beach was intermittent at best, not on any kind of schedule. Our room was large, pool side, which was convenient. But when sitting on our little patio, you could see nothing of the pool due to the shrubbery overgrowth. I guess privacy is nice. As far as cleanliness of the room, I find it questionable, unfortunately. Coffee rings from morning on bed side tables were there ( more than once) after the room had been cleaned. As well as in the bathroom, I could tell the counter top was never wiped down. Also, if you have a used coffee cup or plate from breakfast, make sure you return yourself as apparently housekeeping will not remove them from the room. I also found the floor never felt clean, as well as the bottom of my bare feet. My husband is Asian and we always remove our shoes inside. The floor just always felt dirty, and the bath rug in the bathroom easily became filthy. I saw them mopping the floor one day and they use one of those rag type mops and I think they are just pushing dirt around. The other very odd thing was we did not get shampoo and conditioner for like 3 days and ran out. My husband went to the desk and asked and we were told housekeeping would bring it to room. They did and handed me a bag of 12 shampoos and 12 conditioners! I honestly was speechless, but thanked the gentleman. My husband though took it as a dig, “ you want shampoo, I’ll give you shampoo “ kind of thing. I don’t know, just odd. The breakfast was fine on day 1 or even day 2, but after that day after day the same thing. Croissants and same puff pastry with chocolate everyday. One kind of cereal, cornflakes. One kind of yogurt, Strawberry. The fruit was varied some. And eggs alternated between hard boiled and scrambled as well as sausage and bacon . The coffee was very good. Directions in every room on how to get to live TV would be nice. We figured it out the day before we were to leave. Bar was nice, though only open to 8pm. Drink prices very reasonable and staff very nice. Lastly, a safety concern. I saw not once, not twice, but three children fall on the slippery surface around the pool. Were they running, yes, but why you would have a slippery stone surface around a pool is beyond me.
Smooth and professional with a great location

I returned to this hotel for the second time because the lifestyle suits me as a single person. It works for families and couples too, but it's definitely single friendly. I really like that breakfast is... included; you can purchase reasonably priced food for lunch or dinner around the corner at the large grocery store which has a good selection of "take-out" foods, hot and cold. As well, it's within minutes of walking to good quality restaurants: Mexican, Italian, Burger joints etc. It has nicely updated rooms, I always take one that opens to the pool. It's safe there and quiet, low key, no noisy loud music playing during the day. So if you come for a rest, you'll get it. It's also close to shopping and excursion offices. It's close to the beach, just a short walk or take the shuttle they provide. The beach doesn't have a bar, that's the only drawback, so I walked to the hotel next door a few times to their beach deck and that worked out. Otherwise the beach is gorgeous and I'd like to send a shout out to my two favorite beach staff, Justin and Jhafflyn who went out of their way to be kind to me. Staff is professional and service is good for anything you ask, I had good lessons from the techie on how to use the remote! Checking in and out is fast and everything went smoothly. Helpful and kind staff. I will be returning again. Oh yes, the owner, Dale, came to the beach one day and shook hands with everyone there and asked how our stay was...nice touch!
