Amazing 40th Birthday trip ???????

I went on a three night trip with my husband to celebrate my 40th birthday and Dreams was the perfect choice. All staff is friendly and accommodating and made this trip very special. The resort itself is e...xpansive, beautiful and clean with multiple pools of the swim up bars. There are many entertainment options during the day and at night to include pool Zumba during the day and shows and live singers every night. We had a swim up junior up suite which was a neat concept. This was such a luxurious and relaxing experience.
A nice place with well kept grounds, facilites and very frinedly staff.

This was the first time for us in the Dominican Republic. We chose Dreams (At the time if was Margaritaville) because it was adults only, was a really good price through Costco Travel, and it had good revi...ews. In the end, Hyatt took over the management in the fall of 2024, and it changed from Margaritaville to the Dreams brand of Hyatt. We paid about $1700 for 5 nights, which is about half the normal price for a stay here. That price included airport transport. The food ranged from pretty good, to not so good, but considering it is an all inclusive, I would say that is a win. There are 8 restaurants on the site, but they are not all open the same nights. During the day you really only have 2 places to get food, the buffet, and the place near the beach "Comfort Food" which is basically burgers, hot dogs, fries etc. The beach is terrible. Don't let anyone tell you anything different. There are reviews that say the beach is rocky. This is inaccurate. The beach is basically solid rock, with some sand over it. There is no way anyone would ever swim at this beach, even with water shoes on, it would be extremely difficult. Having just visited in March 2025, they were in the process of using a jack hammer to break up the rock shelf that runs the length of the beach area. So while we were there a large excavator was working all day on this project. It will likely take many months to a year, to create a usable beach here. That said, just walk about 200 yds to the East and there is a nice enough beach, with palm trees, shade structures and lounge chairs. Also, the beach is a long way from the pool areas, so the noise from the work going on the beach was not really an issue, and people were still using the cabanas on the beach too, despite the work going on. The rooms were very nice. We got the cheapest room they offered. The bed, sheets, pillows were all top notch, the HVAC worked perfectly. We really liked the room. All the rooms overlook the pool areas, so there are no bad views from your balcony. Pools. There are 5 pools on the property. 1 is for the Villas, it also has a swim up bar. We were quoted a price of $1,300/night for a 1 bedroom villa. Like most all inclusive resorts Dreams has a "Preferred Club". If you pay extra for that you get 1 pool to your self, along with one of the restaurants. So for regular people you get the main pool, a smaller pool, then the family pool. Also, this is not really an adults only resort. So while when it was a Margaritaville property they claimed it was, and had a separate family area, I don't see how that was possible. Regardless, going forward, Dreams has said it will be a family resort.
