Breathtaking view, great service!

Daydream00425565011 on Jan 04, 2025

As stated in the title, the view was INCREDIBLE! That is one of the main reasons we are giving this a 4/5. We booked the Premium Ocean View rooms for floors 7-11, and received one in the South Tower on floor 10. Would not recommend the South Tower, because part of the hotel building was blocking our view, and it also seemed a bit run-down compared to the other buildings. The hotel concierge and staff did kindly accommodate and let us change rooms for the North Tower (also on floor 10), which was a spectacular view- you can see absolutely everything- even whales!- right from the balcony. We stayed for a total of 8 days, from December 21-28th, so the weather was beautiful and sunny. Room- The room decor itself was a bit dated, and the beds + lampshades were definitely not of Hilton quality. The lamps had some brown stripes going down it, and we found out on our last day that they were meant to switch out the shades (from housekeeping staff that came in to take note of the lampshades!) The shower was nice, but a big issue was water leaking at the bottom and leaving the floor wet because of the showerhead placement. Other than those aspects, the room was very spacious, and the balcony was a wonderful feature. Housekeeping staff were also AMAZING, and very thorough with keeping the room clean daily! Dining- There were 8 total restaurants: Maxal (Mexican), Sunan (Asian), Sunan Sushi (Sushi), Auma steak (Steakhouse), Vela (International Buffet), Cocomar (Seafood), Seasalt (Buffet), and La Luce (Italian). We ate at all except for the sushi place, and our favorites by far were Maxal, Cocomar, and Sunan. Maxal had incredible service, and extremely delicious food. My daughter celebrated her 21st birthday at the restaurant and they were able to secure a reservation at the restaurant even though they were booked for the day. Jenifer, the hostess for Maxal, was incredibly kind and wonderful to us. They brought out a delicious cake as well, and the restaurant was very accommodating for our gluten allergy. The cream of corn soup, Vallarta shrimp, and Mar y Pollo were our favorite dishes! Cocomar was the lunch restaurant that we ate at every day- the fish tacos, shrimp cocktail, and grilled salmon were always superb. They were able to grill the fish/shrimp instead of fry to accommodate for our gluten allergy as well. Sunan also has a wonderful, smoky Pad Thai. Service was great in all those restaurants. The other restaurants were not as good, with Seasalt basically reusing the same food as from Vela. The hygiene was also not good, as they used same utensils for meat and vegetables, used same gloves, and didn’t have proper labels for anything. The staff at Vela who were introduced to us as people who could help us figure out what is in a dish (to avoid our allergies) were very unhelpful. The only good thing at Vela was the fresh quesadilla stall, which had delicious, warm quesadillas that could be made. Auma was alright (flank and tuna steak was delicious), but the NY strip was quite tough. We were told that La Luce would have good accommodating food for gluten allergy as well, but the pizza was ridiculous- we ordered a pear & blue cheese pizza, but they gave us just plain cheese on dough. Booking restaurants was another unclear aspect, so be sure to book with the front desk the day before right away at 9am to get the restaurant you want to eat at- spots fill up fast! The app allows you to book only 26 hours in advance, but in person allows for much earlier booking. Overall, though, with those 3 restaurants that were great, the dining wasn’t bad at all. Features- Every night, they had live performances from singers, musicians, and other talented artists. Every single performer they had was incredible, and were really special. Other performances included fire shows and aquatic gymnastics, which were also cool in their own sense. We utilized all other included amenities like the gym, game room, and the drinks. The gym was VERY well-equipped, and Wiyonal (the main gym trainer) was AMAZING!! He was kind, funny, and very helpful in working personally with me, giving good tips, and holding workout sessions in the morning too. Very happy guy. The game room was also a great feature, and they had a foosball table, ping pong, air hockey, and also video + board games of many varieties. The final Friday we stayed also had a Mariachi band + Mexican Fiesta, which was a great time! There was a huge amount of food, with fresh taco + churro stalls, and great performances. The drinks that were available were not as good as they could be, and we have stayed at Hard Rock in Vallarta which prepared an ineffable amount of drinks, even non-alcoholic, but the drinks here were not that great. The pool and ocean/beach were great, though, and accessibility of drinks was nice. Overall, our time here was very relaxing, and the view + some food places were wonderful. Service was good, and we had a nice time at this hotel!

Great service and entertainment during the Xmas holiday

alexs629 (San Francisco, California) on Jan 04, 2025

Had a great time over Christmas at this resort with my family for a special occasion trip. My first time in a hotel for the holidays and they did a great job with holiday festivities - from the Christmas Eve dinner in the convention hall to the poolside Christmas Day show and Mexican night on the 26th. There was great entertainment every night. The food and drink was plentiful and tasty. The staff is excellent - everyone providing great hospitality. Call out to Juan Luis at the family pool for anticipating my drink orders and being a great guy. Also Ana, Fidel, and Daniel for friendly and attentive breakfast service at Seasalt and Leonardo, Rodrigo, Gladys, and Noemi at Auma for dinner. Muchas gracias a todos!
