Anniversary Vacation

Raquel B on Mar 22, 2025

Celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary in the resort. Tried all the restaurants. The foods and service are great. All staff are accomodating and nice. Jonathan from breakfast was exceptional. With entert...ainment shows nightly. For sure we will comeback.

Average, nothing special. 3.5/5

-Esthetics- the hotel was decent, not grand but not top end. A 3.5-4 star I would rate it. The decor and upkeep of the hotel were ‘mid’, they didn’t look expensive but also didn’t look old or outdated. The... hotel was built in a U shape, having the pools inside the U, and bars and restaurants around it. -Rooms- we had friends that booked the ‘room of the day’ which looked like a normal hotel room with no balcony from the pictures, but they ended up getting the standard ‘all inclusive’ type room you’d expect with the balcony. After looking around the property I don’t know where you’d find a room without a balcony, as they all looked like they had balconies. The rooms also all looked like they faced towards the courtyard and/or ocean. In my opinion the room was the WORST feature, there were so many issues we would have changed rooms, but we were right next door to our friends and decided to keep it that way. The issues for us upon check-in were: floor could have used another sweep, there was staining on the couch, fridge wasn’t working, 2/4 bed legs were broken, balcony only had one chair, safe had an error message, and the shower was a MESS. Regarding the shower, the pipe was broken to the point that it sprayed the entire bathroom while it was on. We told the front desk twice, and they always said they’d send someone however it always got missed. However, the repair man did fix the safe, bed legs, and put another chair on the balcony; but the shower never got fixed which was odd because it would have probably caused the most damage. So we just moved our stuff outside the bathroom and carried on. -Night life- after dinner the resort really slows down, there is no disco. I think there might have been entertainment/shows but nothing notable. If you like evening entertainment this isn’t the place for you. The sports bar and the lobby bar are open until maybe 11pm, and the roof top until around 1am but it seemed pretty dead. Plus if it’s windy up there it wasn’t overly sheltered. After supper is done, there isn’t a place to get snacks either, you have to order room service and I think there was a minimal charge but can’t remember for sure. -Pools- there are 4 pools: one big long pool right outside of the lobby, it had a cabana style bar to get drinks. I really liked this pool because there were two different levels of water, and loungers in the shallow part (and THAT was my favorite part of this whole hotel, made it so relaxing!!). The second pool was the infinity pool by the beach, with a swim up bar. Both these pools had some daytime entertainment, activities, sports etc. The third pool is on the roof top bar, but it’s a shallow cold pool (I would have loved a hot tub up there!). The fourth pool probably isn’t worth mentioning because it’s for the Altitude Club guests, and in front of their rooms only. -Food and drink- there was one main buffet, it was okay but small. Just like Mexico-style, you can count on a good selection of North American cuisine. There was something for everyone in my opinion, but it was a small buffet. Every day of the week there was a different influence for the buffet: Italian, Mediterranean, Mexican, etc. There was 4 a la cartes: Mexican, Asian, and the one restaurant flipped between an Italian and seafood every other day. Food at the restaurants didn’t stand out in my opinion, but were alright. There was a cafe with coffee type drinks and a small variety of sandwiches, salads and Danishes. Ice cream is only offered for one hour in the afternoon at the café as well. There are 5 bars: lobby bar, sports bar, a combined swim-up and walk-up bar, cabana type bar, and roof top bar. If you’re picky on your alcohol, just note that the Altitude club has a bigger selection of alcohol they can access. I like flavored vodka, and that was only offered to Altitude guests. -Service- Bar service was pretty good, we usually parked by the pool and tipped so we weren’t left waiting too long. Restaurant service wasn’t top notch, and front desk was horrible if you had a problem that needed to be fixed (as mentioned above). -Other things- wifi would work for a bit then cut out. Walking to Bucerias via beach was about 40 minutes, and if you go the back way along the catwalk between the Krystal and Decameron Hotel it’s like 25 minutes. A cab to PV was about $30usd one way via Uber in the afternoon. There is an OXXO right beside the hotel. *I would rate this hotel a 6.5/10. I really liked the pools and the service by the pool. However there were so many issues with the room that were not acceptable, and when I asked for help there was little done. I found the rooms dirty upon check in too which just put a bad taste in my mouth, and the cleanliness did not get better.
