Sandals Grande Antigua offers a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and vibrant local culture. The food is simply outstanding, with every meal offering a delightful experience. Special mention to Arlene, the chef at OK CORRAL, who prepared the most incredible Tex-Mex dishes I’ve ever had—truly a culinary highlight. The beaches are pristine, with powdery white sand and the clearest, bluest water you could imagine. The resort’s amenities are top-notch, and I was especially impressed with the personal training sessions with Desmond at the gym—his professionalism and expertise were evident in every workout. Jimal at the front desk made our arrival smooth and welcoming, setting the tone for our stay. What made this trip truly unique was the interaction with the local Antiguans. David, a talented weaver, creates stunning 3D designs out of palm leaves, while the craftsman known as “WOOD DADDY” (his real name remains a mystery) handcrafts beautiful wooden decor pieces—perfect souvenirs to remember the trip by. A charming surprise at the resort was the presence of friendly cats, well-cared-for and available for adoption! Though we were tempted to bring one home, it’s clear they live a good life in this tropical paradise. The all-inclusive experience at Sandals Grande Antigua is truly exceptional. The swim-up pool bar was a favorite spot to relax and connect with fellow travelers from around the world. I highly recommend this resort for anyone seeking an unforgettable getaway.

As with all "resorts" there are pros and cons and having just came back from Sandals Antigua we wanted to share our experience now that the drinks fog has cleared up a little. Pros: Staff is top notch in almost all aspects. Some of the servers at a couple of restaurants were a bit grumpy but to be expected working in the heat and humidity with often times some really rude people. All in all, the restaurants were exactly what you should expect from an all-inclusive. Best of the best hands down for us goes to Soy, the sushi bar right next to Kimonos if you're into that kind of food. Second place goes to Marios, amazing antipasta bar and the main courses were pretty good but they need to teach the chefs what Chicken Parmesan is. From there its sort of what your taste preference is. Eleanors was good but damn hot and humid. Ok coral, good but everything is spicey. Barefoot ok casual place but the big disappointment was no lobster as advertised. Our butler staff was amazing. Always there when needed but not intrusive. Dillon and Antonio. "One Love" to them. Housekeeping was spot on. Couple of maintenance calls handled quickly and professionally. All the bars were well stocked and no problems asking for something special. Watch your sugar intake when ordering the house drinks !! Grounds, Immaculate. Get used to loud insect noise at night. Cats were a cool touch. Take advantage of the spa for sure. All the staff there were top shelf. 90 minutes of bliss. But do it before you get sunburned, and you will without heavy SPF. Beach was awesome and the local vendors are not in your face all day. Very respectful of "no thanks" Close to the airport so getting to and from the resort is easy as compared to some that can take an hour or more. Cons: The main pool was as hot as a bath tube so no relief from the heat and humidity. Try the Caribbean pool for a more tranquil experience. Choose your excursions carefully and do allot of research first. We booked the Cades Reef snorkeling trip, and it was a disaster. For one, there is no vibrant reef as you would expect, instead for the most part it is a waste land of dead corral. On our trip we encountered some very dangerous conditions and life threatening in some instances due to current and tides. At least half of the people on board had to be rescued by the only dingy on the water, including me, a very seasoned snorkeler and excellent swimmer. The "captain" should have never allowed anyone in the water, period. Fortunately, the resort credited half off the cost to allot of people. The island 360 speed boat tour was great but a little rough on some windward spots so if you get sea sick pass on it. We booked flights through Sandals via American Airlines. High drama from departure to arrival. Especially in Miami. Delays, switch planes and gates, luggage issues, etc. No fault of the resort but NEVER again will I use American. Summary: All in all we had a very good experience and coming all the way from California to our second Sandals vacation , Emerald Bay , being the first. Would we come back, maybe after the renovations that start soon but probably going to St. Lucia next. Hope this gives you all some insight from a very seasoned global traveler.
