PARADISE!

Samantha W on May 06, 2025

Matachica is truly paradise. I could vacation here for the rest of my life and feel content. Being whisked away by boat upon arrival set the stage for a trip where they have truly thought out all the detai...ls. The aesthetic is so posh and yet so comfy. The food and beverages were all 10/10. The pool/ hot tub/ tree house bar became my new sunset happy place. And the rooms! They're so spacious yet minimalistic in a way where you can really make yourself at home. We loved the little porch with the hammock, and the beds were the comfiest we have slept in in a while! The service was impeccable; they offer great trips. The second largest barrier reef in the world is literally right off the beach! It's incredible! A whole ecosystem, just a little kayak ride away. We got served drinks in the pool, and when we were lounging on the dock one afternoon, one of the servers brought everyone out plantain chips for everyone! I don't know what more to say! If you're wondering if you should go to Belize, go! If you're going to Belize, you should be going to Ambergris Caye, and if you're going to Ambergris Caye, you should be staying at Matachica!

We loved Matachica. The staff was amazing. The food was amazing, and I thought a real value for the $. Loved Danny’s tree bar and the pool. On Easter, the staff ran a mini Easter egg hunt where we foun...d golf balls with snorkeling equipment. Great day trips too. Really just a wonderful relaxing week with good people.

Great experience

Arnie M (Seattle, Washington) on Apr 29, 2025

Beautiful, quiet, well-maintained resort about 5 miles to the north of San Pedro. As such, you are away from the hustle and bustle of the town, with its never-ending parade of gas-powered golf carts, but c...lose enough to go in for a day or night excursion, if desired (via boat, taxi, van, or golf cart). The grounds are immaculate, and the rooms are large, air-conditioned and all face the beach. The food is delicious and elegantly presented - although after several days here (with limited alternative dining options nearby), we did wish there was a bit more diversity on the menu. The wait staff and bartenders are very friendly and do their best to remember your names and preferences. Housekeeping was a delight, leaving a surprise drawing or arrangement in the room each night. The spa was also stunningly beautiful and private at the rear of the property. The pool, hot tub, and dock are all fantastic and we loved just hanging out at them. It was also nice to just to hang out on the porch in front of our casita, either in a comfortable chair or on a hanging, swinging chair. The only negative experience were a few situations of miscommunication among different front desk clerks (and others) as we made different travel and tour arrangements. We also experienced brief power and water outages, but we assume both were out of the resort's control.

Luxury at it's best

This is our second time to Matachica and it was once again beyond expectations. Relaxing, service is superior, location is private but accessible. Wonderful resort, the food is topnotch and freshly grown.... Make it a pair and visit their sister resort Gaia!

A Relaxing Tropical Vacation

Ju l on Apr 25, 2025

From the day Chris picked us up at the San Pedro Airport and took us to Matachica via boat and brought us back via car, we thoroughly enjoyed our week stay at the resort. Heidi checked us in and made sure ...our stay would be one of our best vacations. It certainly did not disappoint, every morning she had a smile and a hello and greeted us by our names on our way to the bistro for breakfast. Heidi even set up morning coffee delivery in our bungalow to start the day. Sayaria arrived almost every morning by 8am with a smile and a cheerful good morning. The food at Matachica is by far some of the best we have tasted and we have traveled to many resorts over the years, the portions are very filling and we certainly did not leave hungry. The wait staff is spectacular, Sayaria, Archie, Andre and Gustavo served us and waited on us most mornings and evenings, as we ate at either the Mambo restaurant or The Bistro. They always had smiles, they knew us by our names and even by the end of the week knew what our favorite drink and dishes were. If you visit Matachica I HIGHLY recommend the filet mignon and Steven’s Key Lime pie at The Mambo Restaurant, AMAZING!! Edgar, the Concierge was wonderful at planning beach days, as well as an excursion to Lamoni. Secret Beach was a lot of fun and either Edgar or Jeremy would accompany a van of guests over there and stay for the hours we were there. Both are very personable and we really enjoyed chatting with them during our beach time and when we ran into them at the resort. We also spent many days hanging around the resort poolside and close to the pool bar. Keiden was a wonderful bartender, always ready with a drink, a smile and a joke. If Keiden was not there Sarvano was always ready for shots! The pool is nice and refreshing, certainly large enough to accommodate many guests along with a hot tub and plenty of seating. If you do not want to get your drinks at the pool bar you could always wander in and see Jose for a refreshing drink at The Bistro. We enjoyed Jose’s ability to complete the Maya Tower game with his eyes closed and great conversations. This game became quite a hit during our stay and I am sure it is very popular with anyone who has ever stayed at Matachica We would really like to recognize the housekeeping and grounds staff at the resort. They took pride in keeping the grounds immaculate. Brenda, Natalie, Josie and Reyna kept our little Coco Bungalow clean, orderly and always with fresh pool and room towels. They always had a little message on the notepad to make our day even brighter, the little towel animals on either the bed or sink gave us a chuckle every day. The birthday message by far was spectacular! In conclusion you will not find a better resort for adults than Matachica. From morning to when Jennifer wishes you a good night, see you tomorrow you will be pampered and appreciated. We certainly be back to stay in our Coco Bungalow! Jim and Julie Lamm
