Great location, but misses on several fronts.

We recently visited the Curacao Marriott Resort. Our experience was cross between frustrating and pleasant. The hotel could be terrific, but they miss on many fixable issues. First, a some good points, t...he location is beautiful, fully facing west over the ocean with perfect sunsets from the patios, beach and ocean facing rooms. The staff, for the most part, were helpful with what was within their jobs. The water aerobics was fun (just wish I had been aware of it for the first part of my stay). There is a dive/snorkeling shop at the west end of the beach. It’s an excellent shop. Everyone is very nice and you can have a free snorkel for 1 hr to try it. There is plenty to see just off the beach. Water shoes are helpful as there is a lot of coral in the summing area. A car is necessary to see Curacao. A car gives you the option of choosing a variety of beaches and to enjoy the nice restaurants the island has to offer. 1. The hotel has chosen to limit the lowest setting on the air conditioning in the room to 21.5C (70.7F) It was very uncomfortable for us at night. It took multiple tries over a few days until a manager took action and it fixed for several nights. 2. Beach towel policy: A single beach towel per person with a card per person given to you at check in. Most of the towel staff are willing to give you 2 each, but not all. Ridiculous for a beach resort. 3 Room: No hand towels or face cloths for several day, except with a request. Mini Fridge in the room it’s a cooler. It will keep things on the cool side and with a container of ice. 4. Access to the beach was difficult for anyone with mobility issues. There is a stone wall along most of the hotel beach front. To access the beach there is a single ramp at the orth side of the hotel. 5. Food, based on other reviews we ate dinner at local restaurants. We sampled a few food options none were particularly good. 6. Around the hotel most of the outside stairs are without any handrail. There is a ramp at the entrance. There are many elevated areas without a fence or rails. 8. The daily activities are only posted on a video screen on the west/north side of the hotel. The activities are not properly promoted. 9. The hotel is very long, ocean front rooms are not on the beach level just face the water. If you want walk out to the beach it needs to be requested. Over the course of our stay we met with several managers, all were pleasant, but didn’t really seem to be engaged or take responsibility. Talisha was the exception; she made a point of seeing us when we checked out. There was no offer of compensation during any of my conversations with managers. I requested compensation for the inconveniences we experienced. Marriot points were added to our account. As is evident from the numerous reviews this hotels could be great, but can’t seem to fix it’s problems.

The service was great. The employees were all friendly and nice. They were all friendly and very nice. The breakfast buffet was out of this world. My room was perfect great ocean view. The pools,bars,beach...es,chairs,music in the evenings were all great. I was truly happy here.
