Fireplace was amazing

saraXcx (Toronto, Canada) on Dec 01, 2024

I was given a room with a fireplace, I turned it on and the room became extremely warm. I was able to work and have a great sleep. The service was amazing I had asked to extend my stay for another night last minute and I was moved to a room without a fireplace and that wasn’t the best room it was too cold. I’m sure it had heating somewhere I just couldn’t figure it out. The hot foods for breakfast were yum but the pastries are quite dry and cold. The location is one of the best things about this hotel only a $6-9 to get to downtown from here and there is so much to do in whyte ave within walking distance as well! I’ll be coming back in January for sure!:)

A dump with a condescending manager

ashleysT828AI on Nov 19, 2024

This hotel is beat up and filthy. Far from a high end hotel. Don’t waste your money here. Check in was a disaster, they “upgraded” us to a studio suite and it was a total dump. Well used, poor lighting and not properly cleaned. Moved us to a standard room across from a broken ice maker that dispensed every hour. Mentioned something to the manager, she then treated me like a second class citizen for saying anything. I spent over 1200 for 4 nights here and expected more for the price. Never again. Avoid this dump and their horrible staff like the plague.

Above and Beyond

cantpickaname (British Columbia, Canada) on Nov 06, 2024

I stayed at the Metterra Hotel for over a month while caregiving to my wife who was undergoing cancer treatment that put her in the U of A hospital for weeks. The Metterra Hotel and staff made a difficult time so much easier. First, we were given a medical room rate for such a long stay. Any time I asked for something to be sent to the room -- be it anything from a can opener to a microwave -- the item arrived within 10 minutes. My sister, who is a nurse, came to help out for a weekend and was allowed to share the room and valet her car without extra charge. Because of the varying nature of the cancer treatment, we often had to check in or out on short notice -- such changes were consistently and promptly made without penalty. Throughout my stay, every staff member was consistently professional, kind and compassionate. Even housekeeping got to know me and my room was always ready upon arrival back from the hospital. Breakfast is included at this hotel and it's excellent -- bacon and eggs, sausage, fried potatoes, smoothies, cereal, porridge, baked goods, fruit, yogurt, breads and bagels, juices and of course coffee and tea. There were a lot of extra touches at breakfast, like almonds and craisins to put on your porridge. (Who does that?) The servers in the breakfast area were prompt, friendly and kept things stocked and topped up. And every afternoon hotel guests could have a complimentary glass of wine in the lounge. (!!) Now who does that? I stayed most of the time in room 811 -- clean and bright with a view of the city. Sunrises were beautiful. Some rooms have a tub with is nice, and all have pod coffee makers, ice buckets, refrigerator. wine glasses etc etc. An extra nice touch is you get two bottles of water included every day. The Strathcona area was fun and interesting with many different kinds of food -- fast food to fine dining. Just about any kind of cuisine you could name. The stores and shops were funky and fun. (Check out the best candy store on the planet: Rocket Fizz) If I ever have to return to Edmonton I would not consider any other hotel, ever. Hello and thank you to April, Ethan, the nice lady whose name I forgot to memorize who changed my reservation again on the last day and all the rest of front desk, Kristina in the lounge and the valet guy. METTERRA ROCKS!!!!

Metterra on Whyte

858patriciar (San Miguel de Cozumel, Mexico) on Sep 23, 2024

We will stay at Metterra on Whyte again, very pleasant. The breakfast which is included has many hot and cold options. The room overlooked the back of the hotel and was quiet for sleeping. Parking is a block away from the hotel and is safe and secure.

Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff

BathmanRichard on Sep 14, 2024

This was a one night stop leading my group east to west across Canada and we really enjoyed it. The rooms were excellent, really clean and with very comfy beds indeed. Right in the heart of Old Strathcona it is a vibrant and exciting place to stay with lots to do nearby. It can get a little noisy at night but the hotel provided earplugs to deal with the 'Whyte@ noise (I see what you did there!). The tasty complimentary breakfast was a very nice touch too. We had to delay our departure and the staff could not have been more helpful in storing our bags. I'd happily return.
