We reserved a Jr Suite and on viewing it saw that we would have to negotiate a full flight of stairs to get to the bathroom. We thought this was too dangerous at our age and at night. They offered us a sta...ndard room (17% less expensive) and denied our request for a refund or on site credit for food or other services. Booking.com followed suit saying there are photos of the staircase. There is no mention as to whether the bathroom is on the upper or lower floor, though. The very next guests to register did receive that Jr suite, so there was no loss to the hotel. At the Friday BBQ night we shared a “rib eye” steak. My half I could not cut with a steak knife or chew. Surely, grass-fed beef will be more dense but this was impossible to eat. We dined elsewhere for the duration of our stay I must say that the hotel was quiet, clean and breakfasts were outstanding.

We just booked another week in March. The pool is exceptionally clean and never crowded. The resort is predominantly Canadians. We enjoyed 2 barbeque nights there…all our steaks were top notch. cooked to... perfection. The breakfasts are extensive. The service is wonderful. I can’t say enough about the staff. Wonderful. The beach club is small but the service and food there is also excellent. Rooms are clean but dated. Air conditioner worked wonderfully, and was quiet. That is very important for us. Loved the hotel, hence, returning March 19. Elaine and David Canada

Excellent stay

I recently stayed at this fantastic hotel for my first trip to Huatulco, but definitely not my last, with a friend of mine. We chose Villa Blanca for the great reviews and the fact that it’s a smaller hote...l and not all-inclusive. Needless to say we made a great choice. Villa Blanca has many repeat guests, with some staying the entire winter season. One repeat guest told us we were lucky to get a room, so if you’re thinking about it, just do it and book early. Villa Blanca is about a 20 minute drive from the airport, an 8 minute walk to the public beach (the hotel is associated with a beach club, but we only visited the public Playa Chahue), a 20 minute walk to La Crucecita/the downtown area and a 3 minute walk to Chedraui if you need to pick up snacks or any supplies. We walked everywhere but taxis are all over the place. The staff were fantastic and so friendly. Most spoke very good English and were happy to help me with my Spanish :). Tip generously if you can. Our room was spacious and very clean, with a balcony that overlooked the pool area. We didn’t have any issues with water pressure or hot water as mentioned in some reviews. We ate breakfast at the hotel daily. The buffet food was high quality and the service friendly. We never had a problem getting a table, no matter if we ate on the early or later side. We learned later into our week stay that you can request food that’s not on the buffet and the staff can usually make it happen. We only ate one other meal here, simply because we were usually elsewhere during mealtimes, but the dishes we ordered (steak tacos, shrimp aguachile, guacamole and pasta) were excellent and reasonably priced. You may even be joined at your table by Princess the cat :). There are several theme nights during the week including BBQ night, Taco Tuesday and pasta night. We enjoyed relaxing at the pool area. I was pleased to see that no guests tried reserving chairs, which is a first in my travels! I’m looking forward to returning to this hotel when a bit of rest and relaxation is called for!

This is a wonderful little hotel. The pluses include: Many shaded areas with breezeways Fresh cold water station Adorable, spotless pool Fantastic breakfast with amazing service (no “help yourself” noro-...virus buffet here!). Note you can order whatever you want off the menu included - highly recommend adding the breakfast to your reservation Friendly, polite staff, lots of English spoken Cute beachside restaurant run by hotel just a short walk away Everything sparkling clean throughout Comfortable beds and pillows Decent location, walking distance to beaches, shopping & restaurants On site bar with delicious 90 peso cocktails On site restaurant with excellent service and food. I had a fillet mignon - took a chance as my experience with beef in Mexico is sketchy and it was the most consistently tender steak I’ve ever eaten. Came with incredible sides and cost about $25 CAD. Small concerns: Breakfast is served at 8:00, and we had to leave early so paid for a breakfast we don’t get - our own fault but worth considering We were “Upgraded” to a junior suite and hated it. Yes it’s large, clean, etc., but the beds are up a long flight of stairs: the floor up there creaks and cracks like thunder whenever you move so getting up to use the WC in the night ensures everyone is awake. In addition, the lighting is very poor/dim throughout. On the first night I missed the bottom step as it blends in with the floor. Righted myself before I went down but hubs wasn’t so lucky the next night and nearly broke his neck. Ended up with several cuts and bruises. We reported to the front desk and strongly suggested they paint the step as we can’t believe nobody has broken their necks already but if you end up in this room take precautions. Poor lighting in room - see above Very few outlets. We had to choose between charging our phones OR having the light on in the bedroom, having the TV on OR the fridge plugged in downstairs. For such a nice hotel it seems odd they don’t deal with that.

We had a very nice stay, our second time staying here. We requested a ground floor room we booked and made the request seven months in advance, but we did not get one. Many ground floor rooms were empty d...uring our stay. Very disappointing. We have been to Huatulco many times, and even if we stayed at other places we always visited the restaurant at Villablanca. This time we only had dinner there once, the prices are ridiculously high. Fries $220 pesos! No drink specials anymore they used to have 2 for 1 at happy hour. Breakfast was included and very good. It was sad to see the restaurant empty even on nights there was entertainment. This place used to be hopping. Room was fine although no pressure in the shower. We will try somewhere else next time mainly because of the restaurant prices. We missed the convenience of being able to order drinks and food poolside at an affordable price.
