Would go again!

We stayed at Sandals Royal Caribbean with two other couples for our 10 year anniversary. Sandals operations are absolutely on point. They do a great job of taking care of their guests. I would absolutel...y recommend the butlers. We had Jerome (King Jerry ??) and Kristoff. They are absolute gems. Request them if you can. They made sure we had everything we needed, and anticipated needs we didn’t know we had - like drinks at 10 am and snack lunches in the pool and beach. The rest of the staff was also outstanding and went above and beyond as well. We had a couples massage on the island, which was great! Definitely more expensive than in the US but it was a good experience. The location is great if you want to minimize travel time. I know some people complained about air traffic noise but we did not find it to be disruptive. Its about 15 mins from the airport once you drop off the guests at Montego Bay. We did make the short journey to the other resort. I wish we had spent a little longer there but we were a little concerned about getting the shuttle back as it was full/a wait on the way there and we didnt want to get stuck. The rooms - we got to stay in two different rooms. They were both nice although I would say there was a slight humidity problem in the first one. Every thing was pretty wet, but we were only there one night (we extended the vacation late so we needed to switch rooms). I’m not sure how that would have gone had we stayed there all week but the second room was perfect. Everything was extremely clean and house keeping was amazing. There was construction but it was not bothersome to us. The food was pretty decent - I think my husband was a little more impressed than I was but good overall. Thai restaurant, Shack on the island and the Spices restaurant were great. I would probably skip room service if possible, it wasnt that great taste wise. I was also very surprised by the breakfast buffet (in a good way!) My travel agent did let me know this was the chiller of the two resorts and she was not kidding. We were probably among the youngest people there (we’re in our late 30s ??) so if you are looking for a party atmosphere in any way shape or form, this is not the place for you. There is hardly any night life scene which again we were cool with but it was definitely a more relaxed vibe than even I would have expected. Overall, we would go again and definitely recommend to friends! We hope to go to another Sandals soon or head back to visit Jerome and Kristoff!

Too expensive for what you get and read well the description before you book

We went for a winter break in January me and my wife. We are grandparents in our early seventies and we were looking for a week of relaxation with no worries on the beach. We took a package from Montreal w...ith Air Transat which included everything (like I sad: no worries). First, this is an expensive place compared to others available but we decided to go for it as we wanted to be on the best available (which as you will see, was not exactly what we got). Arrival: When we got to the airport we were told by the Transat rep we are lucky, as we are going to the Sandals area where we will be treated like special guests. So we went and we waited there for our bus instead of going directly to the bus outside. They had fruits and cakes and drinks but we didn't really use any of it as we just wanted to get to the hotel. And then and old guy came and took us with our luggage to our bus and on the way he started complaining that he is not being paid and if we don't give him something him and his family will starve. So we gave him 5 bucks just to shut the f-- up. Honestly, I could have taken the luggage to the bus myself faster and cheaper too. The resort: This is s beautiful resort. Well maintained, clean. The island on front with their own beach, restaurants, over the water bungalows and the boat going back and forth every 5 minutes is really something else. There are many buildings on the property, some just on the beach where you can watch the beach goers from your room and vice versa, some kind of old, and some really new and modern. There are also buildings which are not on the beach and some are actually pretty far, like you go through the reception lobby, exit on the island side, and then you go for a little while and then you get to your building which kind of outside of the beach, restaurants and the whole resort area. This is kind of depressing when you first arrive as you realize they put you in a location which is out of the resort de facto. There are really beautiful pools and jacuzzies near all those buildings which is kind of making the first impression less painful, but you are still for a fact out of the resort. The room: We were in one of the outer buildings (room numbers 14001 and up) and it was huge disappointment for us. When I made the reservation it said our room has a view of the "Tranquility Lagoon". The definition of lagoon: "a shallow body of water protected from a larger body of water (usually the ocean) by sandbars or corral reefs", so we we expected to have an ocean front room. Instead we had a pool in front and the worst of it, another building just in front with no view of anything at all really. My wife was so upset she wanted to leave the place on the spot. They saw we are not happy and they really tried to be honest. At the end they offered us the same room but on the the highest floor (4th floor) where you can see the ocean because the building in front was lower. We accepted and eventually we got used to it. Also, the rooms in this building are really beautiful: big, spacious, modern, big balcony with bath tub (we never used), nice bathroom, daily cleaning and fridge full of bear, wine juice and water being refilled daily. And the fact you're so far from everything has the advantage that you have to walk a lot and you burn some calories if you eat too much. Pools: There are many beautiful pools and jacuzzies if you're going to Jamaica for the pool, and they are all pretty full so it looks like people are going to Jamaica for the pool (with the never missing glass in hand of course). Our building had a beautiful pool the whole length of the building and with the first floor rooms having their balconies ending in this pool. I used to go for a dip every evening after we came from the beach while my wife went upstairs to shower. Beach: The beach is large enough that we never had a problem finding a place to lay down. There are no waves as the island in front is kind of blocking the ocean waves. There are resort people going by and asking if you need anything and you can ask for a drink. After a few days they remember you and the bring what you like without asking, which is nice. There are also local guys trying to sell stuff but they are coming on small boats and they are waiting on the outside and never bother you. Food: This is where we were kind of disappointed too. They have about 4 restaurants where you have to reserve in advance, but when you arrive the first reservation is some three days away, so you have to manage with the others and the others are not so great. In the morning there are two places you can go and we went always to only one as it had a nice terrasse on the water. At noon there are also a few options: there is a kind of a fast food on the beach, there is another one on the island and there is a restaurant (the same where we had breakfast) that has a buffet. We prefer the buffet and we went there almost every day and it was ok. In the evening is where we found the problem. If you have no reservation there are not many choices (maybe two?), no buffet, only a la carte and one evening some restaurants were closed and we had no choice but to take the shuttle and go to the sister Sandals Ochi resort where they had a few restaurants open. The restaurants with reservation were ok, not overwhelming. We mostly liked the Thai restaurant on the island for the atmosphere and the nice table in front of the water, but you have to watch what you order as their food can be apparently very very spicy. Bottom line: we went to less fancy (pricewise) resorts in places like Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Saint Martin and we found the food to be a lot better. Entertainment: They had every evening from 9 to 10 PM a show of music and dance by some local group. It was ok. Nothing overwhelming again. What I found a bit wrong is that they were putting chairs on the paved surface in front of the stage for the show, but then, at 10, when the show ended they had a DJ and the were encouraging people to dance and we would have, but nobody removed the chairs from there so there was no place to dance. Some people tried dancing on the grass on the outside of the paved surface, but it was not what we did. We saw a beautiful steel band show the evening we went to eat at the Ochi resort, which was some two levels above what we were seeing at our resort. So maybe they get better treatment? more restaurants, better shows, but they are just near the airport, so I don't know if this is better.

Anniversary Trip

kt7232 on May 14, 2025

We recently returned from our anniversary trip to Royal Caribbean, and we highly recommend it for anyone seeking a relaxing and romantic getaway. The restaurants were excellent, with our favorite on-site e...stablishment being Spices. We visited their sister resort in Montego Bay for dinner on two occasions, and we would particularly recommend Butches. The only drawback was that the shuttle bus could not accommodate all guests requiring transportation, resulting in an additional 30-minute wait. The entertainment was enjoyable, especially the violinist, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We opted for a butler suite, and our butler Andre provided exceptional care.
