Another Amazing Stay at an Amazing Property!

Newman H (Miami, Florida) on Sep 21, 2024

We had an amazing time at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas; our “home away from home”. Many of the employees at the Grand Hyatt are deserving of praise and recognition; however, a few really stood out and need to be mentioned. Ms. Alexya Rolle, Assistant Guest Experience Manager, was key in making sure that everything went smoothly with our stay. She was both personable and professional in all of our interactions and was never too busy to attend to our needs and inquiries. Her dedication to providing excellent guest service is commendable. She is one of the main reasons we keep returning to the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar.   I had a brief but impressive interaction with Mr. Aranah Lloyd, Guest Experience Manager. In addition to being patient and attentive, he was extremely helpful and knowledgeable at checkout in clarifying some misinformation. Please convey my gratitude to Mr. Lloyd for his outstanding service.   Two Front Office Hosts, Mr. Tanaj and Ms. Nickenya Fernander, were exemplary professionals - friendly, inviting and always ready to lend a helping hand. We always felt like we were in “good hands” when dealing with them. Hyatt needs more professionals with their competence and positive attitudes.   Mr. George Petty, Outlets Manager, is an example of the professionalism and excellence that Hyatt embodies. He was instrumental in ensuring that both I as well as my mother and my aunt had a memorable stay at the hotel celebrating their birthdays. Although unnecessary, Mr. Petty made it a point to come up to our suite and introduce himself personally to everyone. It is that simple act and quality that guests remember; that hands-on approach that Mr. Petty exhibited. We truly appreciate his warm welcome and attentiveness to our needs.   Ms. Rhodista Rolle, Assistant Housekeeping Manager, is another individual who enhanced our stay at the hotel. As always, she was armed with an infectious smile and a positive disposition that revealed her sincerity and her concern, not only for us, but for all guests’ well-being. Ms. Rolle, and Mr. Rodney, a housekeeping supervisor, were quick to resolve a minor mishap that happened in our room; and even quicker in the service recovery they offered. Their helpful attitude made a huge difference to our wonderful experience at the property.   I would be remiss if I did not also mention the exemplary service we received from a few of the staff at Cafe Madeleine, where we had breakfast most mornings. Of particular note

BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT PRACTICES AT THE HYATT

joseph f on Sep 19, 2024

BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT CHARGES..... I am a well seasoned traveler and stayed in some of the nicest hotels. The Hyatt in Aruba, Florida, Mexico and the Bahamas. We Checked into the BAH MAR GRAND April 9th. We were greeted by a not so friendly receptionist at the front deck. We informed her that The Hyatt had told us to reserve any room and we would be upgraded due to past problems in Mexico. We were told they have no record of this. I'll mention that 10 months prior we stayed here . Our room was Ocean front,High floor with balcony and we were expecting the same. They gave us a room on a low floor overlooking the water park. But that's just the beginning. As with most hotels, they require a credit card for charges while you're staying with them. They give you a bracelet to wear to help identify you and what room you're in as to charge your room. At one of the restaurants we had to send our food back because it was burnt and not eatable . We spoke to the concierge and was told that the bill for that dinner would be removed from our bill. We were checking out on the 14th of April and we went to the desk to receive our bill. I noticed that there were a number of charges that was not made by us and told that to the young lady at checkout. One charge in particular stood out as I know we did not eat in the restaurant on that night but the night before. I told her that we ate in an Asian Place in the hotel and she checked the dates. She printed bills for both places as I asked and told her these charges were not mine and I would take up the rest of the bill with American Express when I got back to the states. I contacted American Express and told them I'm requesting signed bills for every charge on the bill from the Hyatt as to ascertain it was actually us making the charges. The Hyatt refused to cooperate and just kept sending a printout with no individual signed bills. When I explained that in order to charge to your room you had to sign and present your tag from the room so it may be read electronically. After spending days on the phone with Am.Exp. and the Hyatt I was getting nowhere . American Express placed the charges on hold only to reinstate them time and again. They stated that the hotel sent them what they had as proof it was me who made the charges. Again speaking to a supervisor at Am Exp. She stated " too bad it doesn't have the times on the statement. Thats when everything changed. They actually had the times showing Myself and wife at Carna on 4/12/2024 7:05 pm ordering a five course meal with drinks and deserts , bill $425.00 and on 4/12/2024 at 7;32 pm in another restaurant Shu Bang ordering another full meal, drinks, and desert . Thats a total of 20 minutes. American Express now realizes that fraud was being committed by the hotel. The Hyatt still has refused to do anything about this. I expected to be compensated for not only the bill by my time and expense handling this matter ... One more note, Ive been a Hyatt Club member since 1997. This also meaqnt nothing to them. If your planning to stay with them be very careful of your charged and hold all receipts.
