Just a hotel on the beach...

We were not impressed with this "resort". On a positive note, the staff were great, polite and helpful. They made every effort to keep the grounds clean. They have water toys for free and we made use of t...he paddle boards. Also, the welcome party was fun and the reggae music night was a nice perk. That said, we did not get the walk-out room we pre-booked being told it was an upgrade to a king (actually suspect no one else wanted to walk up the three flights of stairs to our room). No frills, but lots of space. Food was over-priced and not wonderful, with 25% increase from the menu due to taxes, service charge and credit card fees. We chose to eat at other restaurants along the beach (Lily's is awesome!). I suggest you bring cash. The pool filters did not seem to run properly, as there were always things floating in the water (hair, bugs, leaves), and by the end of the week the water was so cloudy I was actually scared to go in. As we travelled as a couple, we managed, but I would not go here with children as we found it unsafe. We were accosted by aggressive locals multiple times daily pushing drugs of all kinds, and even following us down the beach when we tried to walk away. Increased security along the shoreline from Coco might help visitors be able to rest in peace without being yelled at or pressured for money. Note too that the beach is not as lovely as it used to be. Great sunsets, but some sketchy abandoned places. That said, walking down the road side is worse, so if you walk towards town, stay on the beach and cut through at the end. Good luck!

Still Great

lovepalmtrees_10 (Athol, Massachusetts) on Mar 25, 2025

This was our 7th trip to CCLP. As you can surmise we obviously love it here! This trip did not disappoint either. In fact it was our best visit because we got a complementary upgrade to the best room in th...e house! The honeymoon suite on the second floor directly out front overlooking the beach! We've always pined over that room! So thank you Naresh/CCLP! This beautiful resort is still extremely clean, staff super helpful and sweet. Food is very good and service still outstanding! We will definitely continue to vacation here with the CCLP family!

A Great Week at Coco La Palm

Cinderellen1 on Feb 20, 2025

Our second trip to Negril and first time staying at Coco La Palm was a great experience. The one disappointment was the fact that I booked through Air Canada Vacations on a flight and hotel package and de...spite requesting a room with a balcony or outside space both through the hotel and Air Canada Vacations, we did not get one. I do understand it's better to book directly with the hotel. That being said, our room was large, quiet, with a comfortable king sized bed, extra pillows upon request, lots of hot water in the shower and was cleaned daily. The wifi worked in the room and also throughout the grounds, at the beach, pool etc. The larger pool had lounge chairs and tables with umbrellas and despite the resort being full, was never crowded. The jacuzzi was nice too. The location on 7 mile beach is perfect. The white sand and calm turquoise water were the reason we returned to Negril. Lots of lounge chairs on the beach, however other guests would stake out the chairs with their towels as in the AIs which I thought was unfair but that's seems to be the way. We always managed to find a bit of shade. Beach towels were provided and you could exchange for fresh dry ones anytime. We had an unfortunate experience the first night in the restaurant when a server tried to scam us. I think this was a one off as the rest of the staff seemed honest and hard working. We had the continental breakfast most mornings, which included fresh fruit or juice, lovely warm banana bread and other pastries. A couple mornings we ordered a bigger breakfast and they subtracted $5 off the bill for the value of the included continental breakfast. We walked to the Hi Lo for some drinks and visited several nearby restaurants including Best in the West (great!) Firefly, Colettes, Charella Inn, Miss Lily's, Sonias and a few others. We walked to Travellers and took a taxi back. Lots of great restaurants to try out. We did notice prices were high, and mostly in American funds, so with our Canadian exchange rate so low it was an expensive week. But worth it for that fabulous beach. There is a reason people return to Coco La Palm year after year.
