Bad check-in experience with Yacht Club Regatta Club/ Club Level

Jmbk1 (New Braunfels, Texas) on Dec 09, 2024

Upon checking in on the 7th, it immediately was not like our previous visits. A car service took us to the hotel from the airport, and we stored our luggage. We kept our rolling backpacks which have our laptops in them(small bags). Of course, our room was not ready, not even by 4pm. We stored our normal sized suitcases with the luggage service outside when we arrived. We got someone from the front desk to show us up to club level. She proceeded to tell me I have to store my luggage(small rolling backpack), I said no, I already stored my actual luggage. She also told me I look tired. I said I've had a long flight and I'm hungry and there is nothing to eat at this hotel between 2-5pm. I didn't speak to her after that as I found her comment rude. She looked about 25 years more tired than me and had no business judging my appearance. Anyway , then the club level concierge on duty checked our magic bands and went on the whole spill about I have to have my luggage checked (a small backpack that rolls) I then told her I had already checked the actual suitcase with bell services. We finally get in there, the snacks were not good, little selection compared to other Disney resorts. Different from our previous stays. Then I notice a man sitting there with his actual normal sized suitcase who they did not bother to preach at about checking his bag. So, there little "rules" are selective. At that point, I realized that this stay was not worth $1200 a night. We called guest services, and thankfully were able to be changed over to Animal Kingdom Lodge where it was much nicer, better food, welcoming staff. In fairness to the Yacht Club , we have stayed several other times there but with the weekday staff who were always wonderful and were the nicest people ever. If you go there, try to avoid the weekends when they put people on duty who are either inexperienced or not good at making guests feel welcomed or appreciated . I am grateful to guest services for allowing and helping us to move immediately. I will probably not return there for a stay after this experience and I no longer would recommend it at least not on the weekends. We have stayed at many other Disney club levels including Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Beach Club and they never had an issue with me bringing a small laptop into the club level especially if the room wasn't ready by 4 pm which never happened at the other locations. We checked in around 3 :25 pm and were there about 45 minutes in total. Room still wasn't ready when we left after 4pm. Happy we left.

Beautiful inside and out

josephu958 (Manchester, United Kingdom) on Oct 15, 2024

A beautiful nautical themed hotel, situated in the heart of Disney. Breathtaking decor, that teleports you immediately as you walk in to the lobby. This hotel is a 5 minute walk to Epcot and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The cast members are dressed the match the theme and have impeccable work ethic to ensure their guests have the perfect stay. We had a water view room. Which was perfect. We could see the hustle and bustle on tue boardwalk and at 9pm we could watch the fireworks in the comfort of our room. The room provided a safe, an iron and fridge. Sadly, the lack of TV choices such as Disney plus was a certain miss. During our stay, sadly hurricane Milton head right for us. The let down here was the hotel did not provide nothing for its adult guests. As the children sat in the lobby playing games and being kept happy. Us adults were not allowed to leave the hotel and had to endure a night in our room while Milton headed for us. No gift basket no free Disney plus. Absolute nothing. They expecting you to pay for Disney and even drinks in the cafe downstairs. The parks closed for almost 2 days. It was a shambles. Very sad how a multi billion company could not provide its guests with a free meal or complimentary tv package to keep the adults entertained. However, once Milton left. Everything returned back to normal and we continued to enjoy our stay. This hotel had certain must and I hope we will be back to stay.

Beautiful hotel just not worth the price

kbuck1012 on Sep 29, 2024

Nice hotel but the Disney magic isn't what it used to be. We stayed here for my daughter's 16th birthday. The location is great and the grounds are beautiful. I love how your name is on the TV when you checkin. The fire alarm went off one morning at 6:00am and we exited through this area where all the kitchen staff also exited. They were all very helpful in showing us where to go and making sure people didn't go back in. We would have liked better options for quick service and more seating in there. Most stuff was pre made that you had to grab yourself in a fridge etc. The pool chairs are an issue as in most hotels. Our arrival day we couldn't find any chairs. The next time we went we found a few. There were towels next to me on several chairs and no one sat there the entire 3 hours I was there. My daughter and I went to the lobby on her birthday to get a birthday button and "the captain" helped us. He grabbed a button placed it on the counter, rolled a sharpie over and walked away. We were shocked how it was handled and he didn't even say Happy Birthday. (the Disney magic isn't there anymore, saw instances of this in the park too). We liked the hotel but it's just not worth the price for what you get.

Comparing Deluxe vs Moderate

LWandDW (Evansville, Indiana) on Sep 18, 2024

We visit Disney once or twice a year. Have stayed all levels Value, Mod, Delx. We travel the USA frequently and in other cities stay in 4 or 5 diamond properties (Vegas, Denver, CA resorts). For the past several years we have stayed at the Disney POFQ Moderate for 8 days. We had already booked a bounceback offer for the Yacht Club for 8 days in April 2025, so for this shorter Long-Weekend trip we tried the Yacht Club, and unfortunately when we got home, contacted our Travel Agent to cancel/switch the Yacht Club for the upcoming April trip to either Poly or POFQ. The following is why: Pros: 1. Yacht is great location for Epcot (via walking or boat) and HS (via boat). Buses not busy (only AK, DS, MK) since most guests going to other parks. With Early Entry this was GREAT and allowed us early entry where we rode Mill Falcon, Toy Story 3x in a row, etc with no more than 10 minute wait for all those rides and then also Remy with no wait since back entry before front entry guests could get there. 2. YC is a hotel not a motel, so once inside, rooms accessed via interior halls. 3. Front of House staff very nice and helpful 4. Had "end of hall room" which meant no guest on one side so VERY quiet. However, early one morning another guest made a very loud work call right outside our door...good thing I wasn't a competitive company as I heard the entire call (smile) 5. Bath room larger than Moderate, and enough cubbies with doors to "put away" all items and luggage for a clean room. Cons: (reasons not staying here again) 1. Had a balcony but it was unusable as it looked out at "swampy" area with mosquitos. 2. MAIN reason we booked Deluxe was for a couch, but got a chair instead? Travel agent said "not guaranteed" and reserved for parties of 4 or 5 (so couples don't matter? Wish she would have told us that before booking) 3. Food choices were awful for us. We don't eat beef nor chicken and eat breakfast and then one afternoon meal only. This is a place for steak eaters and those who eat late (many lounges or restaurants do not open until 5 or require reservations or mainly serve meat dishes). Even the Marketplace sandwiches were "pre-made" so no substitutions. We literally ate a child's grill cheese in room, steak fries (not on menu but requested) and a wedge salad at a lounge, and then PB crackers we brought from home). We could have walked back to Epcot, but due to the extreme heat and humidity by the time we got back to room, just couldn't fathom that so maybe during different time of year that would be a difference. No idea what family's with kids would eat here--as even the Ice Cream Shoppe required a reservation. 4. Most staff was great, but had one negative incident with bartender in a lounge. Mid-day after park, went to lounge for cocktails and lunch (where we found fries only). Started out great and had two rounds and fries, but then another couple of parties came in. They were loud and literally brushed hair at bar over the trays with olives and fruit (?!) and bartender did not stop them. The bartender had unconscious bias as she catered to all the men in the bar, ignoring us from that point on. We hoped to have another round, but she never came back to our table (even when she was at next table). We went to bar and asked for bill after lengthly wait and she replied that she was only one working so it would be awhile (?!) but proceeded to take orders and make drinks for parties with men. Again I am sure she was unaware of her bias and needed diversity training. (I am a professor and teach this topic). We still tipped fully but this definitely altered our view of this entire property. Overall, we always have a great time at Disney but as consumers want to get value for the money spent. We are willing to spend for the things we want in a hotel, but when we spend and don't get the experience desired, we make alternative choices the next time. We also understand that we are a different type of customer (an LGBTQ+ couple who are semi-retired and frequent travelers who have very specific dietary needs), so this review is just our personal evaluation for informational purposes and may not be the experience of everyone.

Excellent location, noisy rooms

lilrox724 (Chicago) on Aug 27, 2024

Overall, it was an great stay. Pros: - Location is excellent. Walking distance to HS and Epcot as well as easy access to the Skyliner. We used it multiple times during our stay - Hotel is very clean and inviting. - Food options are great - Loved the sand pool Cons: - Room noise was terrible. We were given a connecting room and you can hear EVERYTHING at the early hours of the day. We tried to put a towel under the bottom of the connecting door, but it didn't drown out the sound that much. In addition, hallway noise was be heard more than usual too. - Depending on your room, you can be walking a while as the hotel is wide. - Lazy River was nice BUT be ready to wait a while as there isn't many lounge tubes available. - Check in at 3pm isnt guaranteed even when it says check in is at 3pm. Front desk said that it 'starts' at 3pm and can go until all night... We finally got our room at 4pm. - Housekeeping- If you are someone that comes back to the hotel in the afternoon, you may want to let them know you want your room cleaned in the morning. We came back mid afternoon to our room not being cleaned but then as we wanted to relax in the room, they had to clean our room.
