Every Hyatt hotel should measure up to the superior standard of service found at the California and Florida resorts! Always amazing care at these properties and Grand Hyatt Indian Wells was no exception. I haven’t reviewed or stayed at this resort since it was Hyatt Regency Grand Champions many years ago (see my 4/13/2009 review). There are not many recognizable elements as the property has been freshened several times over. Current renovations are still in progress across the resort. The updated interior and exterior esthetic consists of monochromatic desert hues that evoke North Scottsdale. ARRIVAL Received a Globalist complimentary penthouse suite upgrade and immediate access to the room at 11am with appreciation after a morning flight. Early access allowed me to get in a quick workout at the gym and get cleaned up before an Agua Serena (on-site spa) massage. Front desk really staffs up during busy times, which is nice to see. AGUA SERENA This spa does not have the luxurious vibe it had during the aughts. The outdoor men’s areas are a bit rundown. Dryrot, faded paint on the stucco, teak furniture in need of refinishing, and discolored plaster in cold plunge pool and jacuzzi are elements that make the Agua Serena hard product less than desirable. Fortunately, on check out day, the front desk attendant advised that Agua Serena outside amenities are programmed for renovation. Other than visible wear, what made the spa a great experience was the amazing people who work here. Nicole politely helped me get a same day appointment set up when I arrived from the airport. Manny, the locker room attendant provided impeccable service! At glance, he correctly guessed my robe and slipper size. Manny also got me set up with ordering lunch to the spa and delivered it while I relaxed in the men’s outdoor area. ?Speaking of the outdoor area, my favorite Agua Serena feature is the outdoor showers. We’re not talking about just a pool shower. These are actually shower stalls with curtains and toiletries inside! Washcloths are available just inside the locker room. Pool towels abound outside. One can cleanup for dinner right there in the spa! Nobita was the best message therapist ever! You will want to ask for her. The serenity was unfortunately interrupted by the sound of power tools as carpet install was being done in the spa during my treatment. You will want to call ahead of time to insure no work is being done when scheduling an appointment. ROOMS More hygienic hard flooring has replaced carpeting in the rooms. Nicely updated decor. Bathroom is spacious with dual vanity, shower stall and separate soak tub. Plentiful towels. The designers did an exemplary job with lighting. I have experienced more than a few Grand Hyatts - the unremarkable Grand Hyatt DFW Airport comes to mind - with no lighting in the shower stall. Abundant seating and loungers can be found on the roomy balconies. HOUSEKEEPING Just okay. Not the best. Problems had to be addressed with guest services on arrival which took more than one request. Window treatment installers didn’t clean up after themselves in my room, and there was hair in the shower. Next day cleaning was much better. Turndown service would be nice if offered. TIA CARMEN A revelation! Flavorful food with over the top presentation. Lamb Barbacoa is bucket-list worthy. So many wonderful servers here I can’t name them all. Alexandra’s care for us during breakfast is particularly notable! I had friends visit who were famished after a long drive. Alexandra delayed the breakfast buffet tear down a few minutes so they could partake in a nice meal. A blessing! The breakfast buffet itself is a site to behold… beautifully laid out. CARMOCHA Forgettable bar food but Abrina was wonderful! She never let my glass go empty. A real sweetheart. Nice seating indoors and out. ADULT POOL Absolutely superb! I rented a cabana for the day and invited friends. The incomparable Lisa, the poolside server, kept us well fed, watered and attended to. When teenagers - who were clearly under 18 - invaded the adult Jacuzzi, I alerted the pool attendant who quickly got them out of there. The kids have a whole freakin water park! All pools, and there are many, have plenty of comfortable loungers that look brand new. Cabanas look new as well. CHECK OUT Smooth and organized. There were errors with my bill, but that is not unusual for Globalists. A member of the bell staff offered to load my bag into my Uber. Courtesy here from start to finish. So relaxing! A great warm weather getaway at a reasonable price.
Great rooms and Best Meal of my life

Even standard rooms are better than most Junior Suites at other resorts! If you want to bow your mind eat at Tia Carmen and ask for Yolanda and Andrew the best serving duo in history, and the Executive Chef is truly a master of his craft. Best meal of a lifetime on our anniversary!
