# Way Overrated

The Westin is a hotel, not a resort. Granted they are on a golf course and have a really big family pool with a slide (not anything close tot he Biltmore’s pools and slide) but a resort in my mind is a place where the staff is thinking ahead of you to try to meet your needs, maybe if your lucky you are even greeted by a staff member as you come and go. There is nothing wrong with the Westin as a hotel, but the rates are resort worthy and it just isn’t anything special. I know other reviewers have spoken about parking (the rates on the app are inaccurate it’s now $25 a day to self park) and the missed days of housekeeping (I found this to be true and housekeeping really gives it a quick service, they miss a lot when they come) these are hotel issues, not what you would expect at a resort. The food is limited, not good, and super slow to be served. To be fair, if you want to be close to a lot of shopping and some bars, this is the place to be, I don’t stay at resorts for their nearby shopping, but you do you. The two main things you need to know are, the hotel is severely understaffed and it shows in everything they do, including food and service, and the upselling is constant and a rip-off. I paid to upgrade to a room with a fire pit and a mountain view, the fire pits need propane, which took a call to maintenance, you can’t light them yourself, and they have one chair (seriously who wants to sit by a fire pit alone?) The room had a view of other rooms and some cactus, no mountains to be seen anywhere. The uptake, if you have a convention or get a good rate, and you understand it’s a hotel with a golf course you will get what you expect. No matter what do not accept any offers for any paid upgrades, they are just a reason to charge $200 a night more for the same room. If you are looking for an actual resort there are many in Scottsdale, check the reviews and find a place that will actually earn the rate they charge.
Overall, poor customer focus and exceptionally high prices

We had high hopes for our visit because the hotel had been recommended to us (by a friend who stays here for business). Frustratingly, it was a let-down from the start when we entered the foyer and saw that the promised great views had been replaced with glazed over windows to cover a load of construction. Not only that, there's also no restaurant to sit and enjoy the golf view. WE WERE NOT TOLD THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING, and it had a material impact on our stay. We didn't have any choice at this stage, so we checked in, only to find the room we'd been given was the very furthest room from reception as possible, bar 1 other room. The walk was LONG and offered absolutely no view of the course. No robes in the room - not a showstopper but poor. It's not like this is a cheap hotel - the prices are hugely hiked up, likely for all the conference attendees who can expense all these little pleasures. We should have been told at least about the construction. We expect more from Westin and likely won't come back to this hotel again, as they just don't seem to care.
Noise Noise Noise. Definitely no resort vibes

Man, this was bad especially for the premium price and brand expectations for a Westin Resort. The worst thing is a construction crew started work right beneath guest room windows at 6:00 am, waking guests up with their talking, laughing, power tools and beeping equipment. We were informed a new bar had to be installed by Thanksgiving day for a grand opening so they had no choice but to start early each day. I hope the guests after us enjoy the new bar. Then at the breakfast place called Faro & Brag they let people talk and watch videos on speaker phone. We actually complained and moved tables but the adjacent table did the same. Kids listening to cartoons and playing video games on full volume is just not acceptable and they should enforce a policy. This is absolutely not worth the premium price one pays for a Westin resort. It’s pretty enough and the pools are OK but not spectacular. Dining is meh at best. Do yourself a favor and go to a quieter resort. Avoid this noise fest.
Exceptional Service and Seamless Experience at the Westin Kierland

This was my second time hosting a meeting at the Westin Kierland, and once again, the staff exceeded my expectations. From the advanced planning to the on-site assistance during the meeting, their attention to detail made my job easy. I also appreciate how all the staff— even those not directly involved with my event— went above and beyond to be friendly and helpful. We’ve already booked our 2026 meeting, and I look forward to returning. Highly recommend for any event or just a great vacation.

I used their pools with the resort pass. I loved it!! This place is just amazing at their pool they have enough umbrellas for everyone so there’s shade and an Arizona that really makes a difference. It’s a nice balance of children and adults in the lazy river area. They have a really nice adult pool. The service at the pool was amazing the attendance that we got was just 10 out of 10 you could always go to the bar and pick out some drinks and food the food was amazing I definitely recommend the salad bowls they are huge and just delicious there’s some delicious pizza as well. I will be back. The grounds are just relaxing and luscious. I will be back and I will be staying here even though I live nearby it is just a perfect staycation!! I loved it so much that I booked a cabana for my daughter’s birthday she is 25 now and invited some of her close friends and that was a hit as well this is how much I love this location. I must try
