We stayed 4 nights at Casa Velas during Christmas week. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The workers were all so kind and helpful. The pool and nearby golf courses were great. Our favorite was the beach club. The resort provides shuttles with little to no wait. Special shoutout to Ulises, Juan and Ramon for their amazing service. We will see you all next year!
Amazing service....

Casa Velas is a wonderful resort especially during the holiday season. The resort has very low key vibe and the people are really nice. So it has a much better feeling than other resorts, especially during the holiday season (in which most resorts are very crowded and overrun with uptight people). For us, being an adult only resort is essential, again especially during the holiday season. However, what distinguishes Casa Velas from the many fine places we have stayed over the years is their AMAZING service — most notably, the service at Casa Velas is way better than what we experienced previously in the Four Seasons in Punta Mita. Every single person at Casa Velas provided friendly and efficient service for the entire duration of our stay - we think that is pretty remarkable considering that we were here for 8 days. The staff exudes warmth and projects a genuineness to make sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. It is a really special feeling — we felt so welcome. I am not going to try to name the individuals who provided us great service because surely I would forget some of their names and because ALL of the staff are so wonderful. (The front desk staff, the breakfast staff, the beach staff, the lobby bar...) Even when the resort seemed to be completely full (on New Years Eve and the next couple of days) we had excellent service and did not feel “crowded” or “rushed”. However, I will say that the concierge service that we received from Riccardo before we arrived was exceptional and so attentive to our many questions. Before we arrived, Riccardo had pre-booked the golf, restaurants, the SPA, dining reservations, etc. He also arranged for us to work with a travel agent - Brenda Escamilla (Hearty Excursions Agency) - who arranged the car rental and an amazing private sail boat trip for our family. (The sail boat was very special). The resort has an elegant but low-key feel - the rooms are very comfortable - we especially liked our ambassador suite which was perfect for our family of 4 (we traveled with our 2 adult sons). It was a duplex and was quite spacious and very quiet -- we heard almost no noise from any neighbors - the room as a nice outside area that looks out onto the golf course and we enjoyed watching the golfers. In terms of the facilities, the pool is very nice and we spent some time there… especially fun was the swim up bar. However, we spent most of our time by the beach. The beach is really wonderful and very comfortable, and the staff is amazingly attentive. Most notably, the food at the beach club is amazing. We had all of our lunches at the beach club. We also had dinner there twice - a must-do experience is to dine at sunset so you have a delicious dinner AND a beautiful view. The golf was very nice - my husband and sons golfed at the three courses and enjoyed the 25% discount. They also played a round at Vidanta - arranged by the hotel. We also enjoyed the SPA - on the day we arrived, my sons and husband had a massage, and I had a mani-pedi, and then I also had an 80 minute massage and facial while they were golfing one morning. As an example of the great service at the hotel, the SPA manager “walked” me through the hydrotherapy - telling me when to move to each treatment. It was such a nice touch. The treatments were professional and efficient. The all inclusive is a great value — they skimp on nothing - nothing is extra. They provide food and drinks freely and it is all good quality. They nicely stock the mini-bars each day. We also really enjoyed the live music that played at breakfast and in the evenings. Although we enjoyed the food at the resort, we had some fun dinners outside a few nights - it’s very nice to venture out to PV which is such a fun place, and we particularly enjoy the art district. The marina is lively and fun as well. We had great meals at Meson Iberia, Blue Shrimp, and Cafe de Artists (highly recommend them all). Not everything at Casa Velas was perfect — we had a bizarre experience for New Years Eve dinner (that we still do not understand…). Another area that they need to work on is housekeeping which was hit and miss - and mostly miss. (Actually the poor level of housekeeping is so out of sync with the excellent service elsewhere in the resort.). Despite these missteps, the resort is superb and we highly recommend it (and we will return).
