Mixed Review - Fabulous Staff

lovesthesun-7 (Stittsville, Ontario) on Nov 15, 2024

This is a tough review to write. Just returned from a week long stay with my best friend and we had a fabulous time. Firstly, the staff were outstanding - 5 stars everywhere. Although there were occasional language difficulties, they were super friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Likewise, our room was very nice, although we found the bathroom area to have a lack of privacy for 2 friends travelling together. And although we didn't spend much time in our room or on our patio, the Adirondack chairs outside could use cushions to make them more comfortable. We were in the Privileged Room category, and we found the beach to be somewhat claustrophic as the different areas for guests (Exclusive, Privileged and Regular) are roped off to separate them. We found it quite off putting. Although we always managed to get chairs, the beach was very crowded. If this was low season, I shudder to wonder what it must be like in the height of the winter season. We were also disappointed in the available bars - there is one main and very large bar at the pool. However, much of it is not under cover. We experienced one afternoon of very heavy and long rain and there is absolutely nowhere for guests to stay dry if they didn't get a table under the bar's palapa other than to go to their room. There was a small bar by the Terrace Tapas restaurant, but the few seats are all outdoors with no shelter. The drinks, however, at all bars were very good, and the staff very friendly. We ate at all the specialty restaurants, which were ok, but not exceptional. The best of them would have to be Rodeo - the steak restaurant. The Terrace Tapas, open to Privileged guests, was a wonderful, beautiful location overlooking the beach and sea, but with a limited menu, it was not somewhere we wanted to eat all the time. We did enjoy 2 each of breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The new buffet restaurant is beautiful. It had apparently just opened the day before we got there. We managed to sit outdoors for any meals we had there, which included a few breakfasts (very good), lunches and dinners. I don't want this to be a negative review just to be honest in what we found. All in all, a very pleasant vacation. The beach is kept very clean, the grounds are beautiful and wonderfully kept up, the staff awesome.

My favorite Catalonia resort!

The new buffet is the best I have seen at a resort. Gluten free, variety, beautiful decor and view, friendly staff, easy to navigate. You name it! The Exclusive Traveler club experience is the best here the staff is so attentive and friendly. Wonderful pristine beach and water, amazing beach lots of seating, and the family volleyball, swing-set, blotchiest-ball, ping-pong, chess area is perfect!
