A Beautiful Honeymoon to Remember!!!!!!

Adventure38511901955 on Mar 29, 2025

Our stay at Coconut Bay Resort was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the exceptional customer service from the staff. Everyone was incredibly warm, welcoming, and ...attentive, making us feel truly special throughout our honeymoon. The food was hands down the best we’ve ever had at any resort—every meal was delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. The entertainment team did a phenomenal job keeping the energy high, providing fantastic performances, and encouraging guests to join in on the fun. Our room was always spotless, the drinks were delicious, and every detail of our stay was simply perfect. We are already counting down the days until we can return! Thank you, Coconut Bay Resort, for giving us such a beautiful and unforgettable honeymoon experience. We will cherish these memories forever!

A week at Coconut Bay

jamesbchandler (Brandenburg, Kentucky) on Mar 28, 2025

To start, the St. Lucia airport was little and fast! We got through customs and immigration, to the shuttle and to the resort in 45 minutes! It was wonderful. Our room wasn't ready upon arrival, so we enjo...yed the welcome drink and explored the grounds for about an hour. The layout is great for both families and couples/adults only. Once we ventured back up to the front desk, our room was ready. This was definitely the biggest hiccup of the trip. We had requested a king bed, seems how we were on a 10 year anniversary trip. We were given a 2 queen room. I went back to the front desk and spoke with Spencer who is a manager. He stated he didn't have any kings available and it was a request not a guarantee. I've been to a lot of all inclusive resorts as well as a lot of hotels in general and this is the first where I didn't receive the room style I booked. He promised to move us to a king room the next day, which happened, but I hate having to take the time and change rooms. The craziest thing happened 2 days later. I ran into a 21 year old man who was vacationing with his mother. They were given a 1 king bed instead of 2 queens as they had requested! They arrived on the same day same flight as us! To me, this is ridiculous. Our move to the new room was an updated room, which was much nicer. It had a roomy rainfall shower head shower. It also had plenty of dresser space and hangers. It had both US and European outlets, but not many of either so bring adapters if you have any. They came in handy. The hotel rooms are probably 2/3 of the way renovated at least on the Harmony adults only side. Housekeeping visited early daily if you put your door hanger service room now on the door after leaving for the beach. The note left each day is a nice touch. Towel art on some days but not a daily occurrence for us. There is an ice machine on the first floor of the Harmony building that comes in handy. Pools We never went to either of the pools on the family side although the swim up bar pool was huge and looked nice. It seemed to be very kid friendly with areas they could play in shallow waters. The adult harmony side pools could have been cleaner and clearer. Almost anytime we saw the pool crew they weren't working but lounging around talking in them. One morning the smaller adult pool we were in had tons of gnats/debris on the surface. The pool crew came by and got in. I assumed after they left it would be cleaner but it wasn't. Both pools on the Harmony side were an ideal temperature we thought. Not too cold yet not bath water that wasn't refreshing. The lazy river was fun. Enough current to push you slowly around the loop. The grounds Lots of vegetation on the property including tons of palm trees that we loved. The grounds crew needs to be better. Lots of weeds around the edge of the lazy river as well as in general. I believe they hire this out to a contractor. It could be beautiful with a little more care. Beach/pool loungers & towels Like others state, no need to play the lounge saver games. Tons of loungers on the beach and by every pool. We used the sun chaser beds on the Harmony side. These are very comfortable and have a fantastic view of the ocean. If a front row spot on those is desired, you need to be out before 8:30 am for sure. Any other style loungers or spots should be available about any time. Towels are plentiful with no towel card required, which is a plus. Bars We've been to a lot of all inclusive resorts and I must say I feel as though this is the 1st we've been to that actually pours the real liquors stated by the bottle. We're from Kentucky and know our bourbons. What's in the bottle is accurate. We never waited at all for drinks and plenty of bars here to choose from. They have Heineken and Piton on tap. Several good bourbon options like Wild Turkey, Makers, and Evan Williams. Each bar also has their own unique drink menu so you have tons of options to try. Paradise beach bar about 1/4 mile down the beach is a very nice fun place to sit. We would take 2 of the bar chairs and move them up to the front overlooking the water. It's just a beautiful view that is well worth taking a golf cart or walking down the beach to. After a couple of days walking and talking to the locals that try to sell you jewelry or excursions, I will say that part gets old. All the bar staff was excellent including Nick, Ed, Eron, Dillan, and Dre. Lots of others but don't recall more names. Restaurants The Coconut Walk is the buffet and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner everyday, which is nice. We ate breakfast every morning here besides once because we wanted to try the Verandah. The wait for food at Verandah was too long and the menu is items that can be found at the buffet. It isn't worth the time. I'd say the buffet is average for breakfast. You won't go hungry. It has all the staples everyday such as bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, as well as an omelette/made to order eggs station, a waffle station, crepe station, and a smoothie bar. Dinner I'd say is above average. They have a flatbread pizza station made to order by selected ingredients. It's really good. Both nights we ate here they also had a made to order pasta station. It was ok but we both thought the alfredo was watery and the peppers were al dente. We never ate lunch there. If you like ice cream, they have a great banana that tastes like the yellow Laffy Taffy. The coconut ice cream is delicious as well. The Jerk Hut is wonderful. We ate there 3 times I believe. The pork and sausage I wasn't a fan of but it's all about the chicken. Fantastic. The plantains as well as the rice and beans were great too. Flip Flops is a very solid choice for lunch too. We really enjoyed their caesar salad, made to order pizzas, and cheeseburgers. We liked that they had yogurts and fruit cups in a small self serve refrigerator. We weren't a fan of their nachos and cheese. The hotdogs were decent. Calabash (Caribbean) This is a very pretty restaurant. Although their website says men must wear pants, we were told at the reservation desk that I could wear nice shorts. I did and it wasn't an issue. Basically, you don't need any long pants on this trip unless you want to and have room to pack them. The food here we thought wasn't the best. Others really enjoyed it. My wife got the pork chop with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Their vegetables were very al dente. I'd say closer to raw than cooked. She loves mashed potatoes and said the seasoning was good but didn't like the texture of them. She said the pork chop was cooked well, although they put a pepper salsa on top that really had no place. I got the surf and turf. I ordered my steak medium but I'd say it was closer to well done. The steak did have good flavor. I liked the mashed potatoes so it's probably just a taste preference on if you'll like them or not. The coconut shrimp were good, but I feel they were a tad overcooked. For dessert, I tried the white chocolate cheesecake. The texture wasn't right for cheesecake, but as a sweets lover, it was fair. Silk (Asian cuisine) This was also a very nice atmosphere located right next to Calabash. Solange was our waitress and was excellent. We both thought this was the best meal. For starters we both got the spring rolls and they're delicious. My wife also got the California roll, which she liked as well. I got a shrimp dragon roll that I thoroughly enjoyed. I also tried the wonton soup. Very good. For entrees, we both ordered the General Tsos chicken. It wasn't as good as the appetizers, but good. I had a side of fried rice that was too mushy, so I took some of my wife's white rice that was very tasty. For dessert, we had the creme brulee. My wife doesn't like sweets much, but we both enjoyed this dish. Trattoria (Italian) This restaurant is located next to Flip Flops. I wasn't a fan of the setting. Briso was our waitress who was wonderful. For starters we ordered the caesar salad. It comes in large leaves that you have to cut yourself. It's kind of awkward to do, although a nice presentation. For the main course my wife ordered penne pasta. She enjoyed hers. I tried the grilled chicken and shrimp. I just wasn't a fan. Saturday nights they have Caribbean night on the pool deck. Tuesday nights is their country night with the same setup. Both were enjoyable and good foods to be found. Coffee bar This is super nice to have at a resort, but I will say if you have more than one person in front of you, get ready to wait some. It takes them quite some time to make a drink. There is a self service coffee bar just on the other side of the buffet entrance where you can get a quick decaf or regular drip coffee. It has creamers, syrups, and many milk options such as soy, regular, oat, and skim. Pro tip..if you like iced coffees like us, take a travel mug with you, get ice from the ice machine, fill it up with drip coffee, add your creamers, milk, and syrup. Voila, you have a large delicious iced coffee without waiting in line at the coffee bar! I will say we met more fellow travelers at this property than most trips we've been on. Many folks from England as well as Canada. Everyone was super nice and personable. We definitely enjoyed talking with everyone we met. Our major gripe about the place is the cleanliness. Our room was clean don't get me wrong, but mainly just the common grounds. By the Harmony pool bar, something sticky must've been spilled on the patio at some point. It was ridiculously sticky and stayed that way all week seems how we didn't receive a drop of rain. At other resorts we've seen patio areas often hosed off. The stairway in the lobby always seemed dirty. The lobby bathrooms weren't the cleanest at times. There was some sort of mess in the hallway by our room door along the railing, which was like that the whole week. Overall I would say everyone would enjoy a trip to Coconut Bay. We wouldn't return because there is so much to see and so many places to go. I know I've been critical of the place, but am still giving it a 4 out of 5. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I'd be happy to help.
