The hotel is very run down. Mold on the ceiling in the buffet. Constantly running out of alcohol, but staff was selling bottles on the side. Food is not good in Cuba generally but the buffet was very sp...arse. Service lacked unless you had money on the table. Tv stopped working on day 3, couldn't get anyone to even look at it, front desk just gave us different excuses. Constant blame on Cuba's government for the shortages, yet speaking with people from 2 stars resorts were not experiencing shortages and resorts weren't dumps. Barcelo is a huge company with a lot of money - start using it at this resort. Location and beach were the best positive part of our trip. All the reviews I read did not reflect this resort.

I stayed aprox. a week and food was great, the service people in the desk and every bar/restaurant were charming. The reservation lady (Karen Nodarse) was amazing and charming! The cleaning maid (Yara) f...rom my room 1449 was amazing as well. I even filled a survey to leave a more personal review over there.

My wife and I spent 4wks. at the Barcelo in March and prior to that 4 wks. in Nov - Dec 2024. Our experience was very good. The amenities at this hotel keep getting better and better. The food and the room...s are good and clean. From the reception, maids, grounds crew, bartenders (the best) the coffee bar people can't be beat!! The new pickle ball crts are a good addition. Close proximity to town and the boulevard are a bonus. Walking distance. I have to mention the spectacular beach are world renowned. A big thanks to Alejandro the communicatios director who looked after our questions.

A wonderful time with my friends. Spent the week eating, drinking and enjoying all the resort had to offer. Huge shout out to Alejandro Florat for making sure we all enjoyed ourselves. Definitely a place t...o go visit. The beaches are the best I've ever visited, clean and white. With spaces to relax in and out of the sun.

Great experience at Barcelo Solymar. Friendly and professional staff. The hotel has one of the beach spots of Varadero. We recommend warmly this resort. Of course there are small issues with the paint of s...ome walls and small deficits at the buffet but nothing to make a big problem about. Always contact the staff to solve any issue!
