Great service , Mayra at las dunas bar makes the best drinks and conversation. She was Helpful to find places to go away from mas public. Great for family who wants to relax. Not deep water perfect to learn to swim . Beach access is great and plenty of chairs for everyone

Maria del Carmen and Idaivis in the dinning hall gave amazing service and were super friendly and inviting. Some of the other wait are were not as friendly. Food was average. Would appreciate more variety...but really no complaints. Ocean view room was spectacular!!

Let's begin with the positives: 1. Gorgeous beach always a spot to sit with beautiful huts. 2. Lovely staff once they warm up to you. 3. Really great buffet everyday using what resources they have. Great eggs, chicken, and fish. 4. Very close to the airport. 5. Very safe and easy to walk around. 6. Delicious coffee 7. The men give amazing service (the women not so much) Now lets get down to business: 1. The pool was green and you could not swim in it the entire trip. 2. The hotel is filthy. 3. House keeping did not give us towels for the whole entire week (even after asking at the front desk) (The worst house keeping I have ever experienced in my life) (Never changed the sheets, dirty mirrors, dirty floors, dirty balcony) 4. Nothing in the fridge in your room. 5. Cockroaches in bedroom and in buffet. 6. Leaks in the building. 7. Shower barely worked (small drips out of handheld faucet) 8. No soap in any of the pumps throughout the building. 9. Only alcohol available was Rum and beer. (Wine at dinner only) 10. Watch out when the Cubans come for the weekend because they will bud in front of you in the buffet and basically leave you no food. 11. Make sure you ask for a key when you check in for your safe they don't offer it upon arrival you have to ask for it. Some guests told me if you want towels you have to tip the maids extra? Really towels are no longer included with your room? I love tipping but come on that's ridiculous

Another visit in Varadero and another family fun trip under the Cuban sun. Barcelo Solymar was exceptional. We begin with the first impression of the lobby. Very pleasant with vegetational vines that drop down from the ceiling. Check-in was smooth and on time. An issue with our bungalow room as we got bounced from one to another. Room was abit dated as the air condition suffered from blowing cooler air and some water leaked from condensation. Rained one night and woke up to find a small puddle of water in the middle of our room. Distance was ok being located between the main building and the beach area. The food and the restaurants. The buffet could use abit more selection but i was actually impressed this time around on how the food was tasty. Previous resort’s buffet was sort of bland and lacked seasoning but bravo to Barcelo Solymar for stepping up on the quality of their food. The a-la-carte is always a good choice also but i wish the resort could offer 3 for an 8 days stay. A bonus plus staying at Barcelo Solymar is that it is very close to downtown Varadero. A short walk to the sister building at Occidental Arenas Blancas and you’re at Calle 64 where you’re find some delicious Cuban restaurants and shopping areas. The beach. In Varadero the beach is the highlight. Under the blazing sun you’ll find lots of straw umbrellas and enjoy the calm, warm and clear waters. High fives again to the friendly staff. From our room cleaning lady to my amigo Anelly the wait staff at the buffet. Cheers to all. Thank you Barcelo Solymar.

We had a great time at Barcelo Solymar, Outstanding service! The staff were attentive, helpful, and super friendly. The resort is well-made, durable, and worth every penny. We had an amazing dining experience! The restaurant was kept very clean and waters/waitresses were beyond friendly and helpful. The customer’s support was fantastic! The manager Alejandro was very helpful and accommodated us with the extension of our stay at no cost. Will definitely recommend this place to friends and families.
