WestJet Rewards extends expiry date for annual companion vouchers
WestJet Rewards is extending the expiry dates of companion vouchers issued to members who hold a WestJet RBC® credit card as COVID-19 continues to impact the travel plans of Canadians.
“While travel may not be possible for many of our cardholders right now, they have been steadily using their cards for everyday purchases throughout the pandemic, building up their WestJet dollar balances along the way,” said d’Arcy Monaghan, WestJet Vice-President, Loyalty Programs. “The annual companion vouchers awarded with our cards are a key benefit and we want to ensure our valued cardholders have ample time to use their vouchers—combined with their WestJet dollars—for that long-awaited trip.”
Extension details:
- Unredeemed WestJet RBC credit card companion vouchers expiring between June 2021 and December 2021 will be extended to December 31, 2021. These include the round-trip companion voucher issued every year upon card renewal to holders of a WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard‡, as well as the companion voucher issued to holders of a WestJet RBC® Mastercard‡, also issued yearly.
- For WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard cardholders who exchanged a valid companion voucher for four airport lounge vouchers, any unredeemed RBC lounge vouchers expiring between June 2021 and December 2021 will also be extended to December 31, 2021.
- Extensions are underway and will be reflected in members’ accounts no later than May 31, 2021.
Cardholders can continue to use their companion vouchers on bookings made prior to the new expiry date. Travel may occur after the expiry date, based on schedule availability at time of booking.
This is the third time that WestJet has extended credit card companion voucher expiry dates due to COVID-19. Companion vouchers issued to Platinum, Gold and Silver members as a milestone award have previously also been extended to December 31, 2021.
