10 Days in paradise

What an amazing time in Aruba. Before we arrived I was in contact with Mariana who was so helpful with the accommodations and answering all my questions. The weather was fantastic, the beaches are amazing ...and the food is great. But there truly are special people on the island, Maxi at the seabreeze is like no other, she is kind and attentive, she is like family and my kids adore her. Louise our girl at the Oceanside bar and grill is the kindest best server there and treats my kids so well. Last shout out to Hugo also at the Oceanside bar, he is such a great waiter! It’s people like this that keep us coming back.
Disappointing Stay at Holiday Inn: Poor Service and Misleading Information
César S on May 23, 2025
We arrived on May 18th with a confirmed reservation for five nights in a room with a king-size bed. Upon check-in, however, the receptionist informed us that, since we had booked through a travel agency, t...he king bed would only be available if there was availability—otherwise, we would be placed in a room with a double bed. When we asked him to check availability, he confirmed that a room with a king bed was indeed available, but discouraged us from choosing it by claiming that it was on the noisier side of the hotel. Based on his advice, we opted for the room with the double bed. Unfortunately, we soon discovered that our room was directly next to a nightclub, which was extremely loud. When we complained, he casually responded that the nightclub was “new” and he had “forgotten” about it—something we found highly suspicious and indicative that he simply preferred to put us in that room from the start. Next, I handed over my card for a $250 security deposit. Later, I noticed an additional unauthorized charge of $100. When I inquired, the staff claimed it was due to the large amount of food and drinks we had charged to the room. However, this policy was never explained to us during check-in. On check-out day, we encountered yet another issue. We were told Apple Pay was not accepted for final payment—despite it being accepted at all other hotel facilities (restaurants, bars, stores, etc.). Again, this was never mentioned at check-in. To avoid additional fees associated with the card used for the deposit, we chose to pay in cash. Our total came to just under the amount paid, and we were owed $0.97 in change. When we asked for it, the front desk staff dismissively said, “You’re good to go.” After insisting, the receptionist replied, “It’s only $0.97, and I don’t have coins,” with clear disdain. At that point, the lack of professionalism and respect was just too much. We demanded one dollar back, not because of the amount, but due to the disrespectful attitude we faced throughout our stay. In summary, if you're considering staying at the Holiday Inn, be prepared for two things: an outdated hotel with worn-out amenities, and front desk staff who are unprofessional, unhelpful, and downright rude. We felt completely unwelcome—like they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. We will definitely not be returning.
Lunch with Veronica
Smillerick (Concord, New Hampshire) on May 20, 2025
The beginning of the experience for lunch was a bit slow on the staff. Then……we met Veronica, and she was fabulous!! The food was good, she made it all just fantastic! Great recommendations for choices and... she was so pleasant. Our seat was right on the water and my tuna poke bowl was delicious!

Older Family-Friendly Resort on the Beach
lopo (Boston, Massachusetts) on May 18, 2025
Holiday Inn Resort Aruba-Beach Resort is an older resort but they've updated the public spaces (i.e., lobby, restaurants). The room was spacious - 2 double beds, small dining table & 2 chairs and an uphols...tered chair, nightstand, dresser with a few drawers. full-length mirror and a cabinet enclosed refrigerator. A small coffee pot was available for our use, too. The bathroom had a single sink & mirror, towel rack, and a shower. There was also a balcony with 2 chairs and a tiny table. Mattresses were comfortable and the room was clean but the carpeting seemed older and dated. The majority of staff was wonderful. The Wi Fi left a lot to be desired since it constantly dropped the signal and, one afternoon, it was out all afternoon. The resort has large pools, several buildings and is located right on the beach. There were many lounge chairs but very few shady spots (although $40 a day beach umbrellas were available to rent.) Sadly, each day, I noticed that chairs would have towels and personal items (beach bags, etc.) left on those located in prime spaces but the owners were not around. I asked an attendant & he told me that guests could hold chairs for 2 hours (!) but if they didn't return after that time, he was supposed to clear the chairs. (I didn't wait around for 2 hours but I doubt that anyone's things were removed.) One night a worker was knocking on our door (it was late & we were already in bed although not sleeping and our do not disturb sign was hanging on the door) several times since it took us a bit to answer. He was delivering a crib that we hadn't requested so he left to find the right room. The hotel operators were brusque and one of the bell services people did not seem happy to help but the rest of the staff - housekeepers, bellmen, reception, servers, bartenders, etc.- were very helpful and pleasant The ice machine on our floor was broken one day but working again the next day. Shout out to Marie in reception: we had reserved a room with 2 beds but were given a room with one bed. She was able to locate what we wanted/needed and we truly appreciated her assistance. While we didn't notice noise most of the time, each morning delivery trucks woke us since we were overlooking that area as well as the AC units although we could lean over the balcony railing and see the beach. Although we were not constantly disturbed by loud neighbors, it happened several times since the walls were thin and some guests let their room doors slam each time they went in or out. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The glitches and small annoyances didn't interfere too much. It's a reliable, family-friendly resort.
