Nice place with a strange ambiance
Willem M (Luxembourg) on Sep 07, 2024
When I booked the hotel, it was still a Courtyard. Before leaving to Bonaire, Marriott wrote to us that this hotel was not anymore part of their chain and that our booking had been taken over by Corallium. We didn't know this chain but decided to maintain our booking. Upon arrival, the staff at the reception was OK but as this hotel employs a lot of hotel students, you can feel that it is sometimes a bit amateurish. But there is always a supervisor not far away in case of need. And most of them speak Dutch, which I appreciate. I absolutely needed a very good and reliable wifi as I had to pass an online exam during my stay. Pros: - The room: extremely nice, large, comfortable - The wifi: fantastic. I could pass my exam troublefree. - The surroundings: nice, very close to the airport and the capital Kralendijk was easy to reach by car. Cons: - The Wave restaurant: it should have been open for dinner from Thursday to Sunday. It was however closed and when I inquired at the front desk, they were initially not aware of it. The breakfasts were average. The nice Colombian waitress did everything to make us a nice breakfast, but she was dependent on the rest of the team. And the first morning, the food came apparently from outside. This resulted in my fried eggs being cold and the waiting time was extremely long. The next mornings, there was a cook on the premises and it improved somewhat. The hotel clearly had a problem with their restaurant... - The pool: closed during our entire stay for renovation. The hotel reception warned us upon check-in that it would be closed for "a couple of days". We would have appreciated to have the possibility to swim and cool down after a long day in the heat, but this was not possible. Alternatively, a discount on the room for the inconvenience would have been the logical way to reduce this inconvenience. A take over by another chain can be always challenging. Here, it clearly was. We had the feeling to be in an empty hotel, in a kind of twilight zone. I am not sure that I would come back to this place during a next visit to Bonaire.
Black mold in the rooms . Stay away

The worst experience at a marriott anywhere in the world. Mold all over the bedroom and bathroom ceilings. No management on duty during the weekend to talk to . I finally got a hold of the GM one week after we checked out, he said the right things on the phone but he never followed up or answered my messages afterwards. Stay away from thus hotel. Black mold is no joke.
