Best Staycation Hotel for Locals & Excellent for Visitors
kgridley2024 (Honolulu, Hawaii) on Jul 08, 2024
The Ilikai is our first choice for staycationing in Waikiki. It is worth spending a little extra for a room with an ocean / sunset view facing the South West side of the island or, an ocean view facing the Hilton / South East so you can enjoy the fireworks from the Hilton if you are here on a Friday evening. The kitchenette makes eating leftovers and breakfast very convenient. The rooms are always spacious and clean. We spent quality family time on the lanai, watching the sunsets and listening to Hawaiian music Friday night. We then moved to our family's room on the South East side of the hotel and enjoyed the Friday night fireworks. We had a perfect time reconnecting, enjoying our life and solving the world's problems.
AWFUL EXPERIENCE
LIZMAC36 (Frisco, Texas) on Jul 07, 2024
Each time we've stayed, we've become more and more disappointed with the rooms. So old, sorely needing updating. Last time stayed, there was mold on the shower scraper, bathroom sink needed to be cleared, the 2 bed suite, the twin, the bed skirt edge bottom across was so dusty. The linen didn't seem fresh. I scratched for about 2 days before I realized that the culprit might be the linen not being cleaned (?) I tried washing them while I was there but to no avail. I itched every day till I returned home. I believe there were either mites or bedbugs in that twin bed. To make things even worse the drapes were white and sheer. They didn't even think to install blackout curtains. Needless to say given the room facing where the sun was full on, woke us up at dawn!!!!1Terrible stay! This stay was Room 1231
