Good start, disappointing finish

287elkag on Aug 18, 2024

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as family of 4. The check in was quick and efficient. Rooms were good with great views. On night 3, things changed. We were awoken at 1am by very noisy guests in corridor, they were in next room and as it was a connecting the sound was terrible. Despite phoning down to reception to explain and security coming up, the noise carried on until 3am. We were offered another room after speaking to reception the following morning After our day out we arrived back and went to collect our new key. We were dealt with by Ernest on reception. He gave us our room number/card and it was the room number was the room our children were staying in. My Husband leant in to say that’s wrong, only to be told ‘stop screaming Sir’ He wasn’t screaming, not even talking loud but he kept repeating phrase. We took the keys and my Husband held back to say I wasn’t screaming just talking normally. His reaction was to repeatedly say ‘just walk away Sir’ A totally embarrassing situation which was unnecessary and only occurred due to his mistake. Down to these experiences we would struggle to recommend/return.

Very nice times square hotel

Beautiful hotel, very clean, nice staff, large rooms, close to the subway, Broadway, Hell's Kitchen and Times Square. What more could you want from a Times Square hotel? The price was great for the quality. Highly recommend. Be sure to understand the destination fee and how it works. It's a little annoying, but typical for the area and hotel grade.

Nice and friendly staff

We had a wonderful stay at The Westin New York at Times Square (7/27-7/29th) largely due to the outstanding staff. From the moment we arrived, the team was incredibly welcoming and attentive. They went above and beyond to ensure out comfort. Especially George Paredes, Manager. Their professionalism and warm demeanor truly enhanced our experience. I highly recommend this hotel for the excellent service alone. Thank you Westin and thank you George!

Outstanding Hotel

mauriceo563 (Castlewellan, United Kingdom) on Aug 07, 2024

This is a fabulous hotel! So centrally located just off Times Square with easy access to everything New York has to offer. Rooms are excellent with all conveniences required including tea and coffee making facilities, large screen multi channel TV and the most comfortable beds ever. You will sleep like a log after days exploring everything NYC has to offer. The rooms are cleaned immaculately daily. We were on 42 floor in a premium room with a view of the Empire Estate building - spectacular! The hotel offers $35 per room per night to compensate for the fact room tax has to be paid (compulsory) on departure. It can be used on food or drink. Use it or lose so we were able to go to the bar after busy days for a few drinks. You can’t use it to pay room tax but it is a great gesture by the hotel when you feel you are getting some value for tax. You also get 2 tickets for activities per nights stay per room e.g entry to natural history, Hudson cruise. This really helps. Check in was fast, efficient and friendly. A special mention for John the concierge. He is the most friendly, knowledgable, helpful person you will ever meet. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he really does everything to make you’re stay special and help in any way he can from booking tours, Broadway tickets, to guiding you on the subway lines to take . He is always happy and greets everyone in a way you feel you’ve always known him. What an ambassador for the hotel he is ! The Bar/ restaurant is excellent with lovely views over 8th Avenue. 42nd street subway station is just outside the hotel which is so convenient. When we return to NYC we will definitely stay at The Westin.

A lovely experience.

After reading a lot of mixed reviews I was a little anxious about my stay. We came on holiday from the UK and stayed for a week at the start of July. For us, we had a really lovely experience. There was an initial hiccup with our room having someone’s luggage already in it, but we were quickly given another room. The staff were immediately on it. Our room was clean, quiet and on a high floor, with views across the Hudson River. It was lovely to see the sun set, the cruise ships come and go and also skyscrapers such as The Edge from our window. We slept well, the mattresses are really comfortable, the shower was powerful, as was the toilet flush! Although we had a breakfast voucher, we didn’t end up having breakfast in the hotel (teenager’s aren’t great at getting up for breakfast). We bought fruit and Muesli from Target to eat in the room, then picked up a cheap bagel nearby later on. We found our floor to be quiet, no noise on the corridor. The hotel location is excellent. Close to the Port Authority and Times Square subway stations. As we travelled from the UK, we were unsure what travel adaptors to bring. This hotel uses Type B, US 3 pin adaptors, but can probably use the Type A, 2 pin ones too. So, overall I would recommend this Hotel for it’s location, it’s bedrooms and the amazing views if you’re lucky enough to get a room on a high floor. As for food, we saw that a cream cheese bagel at the hotel was 10 dollars (I bought 2 bagels for 5 dollars just minutes from the Hotel). So, the included breakfast credit does not go far if you’re looking to start your day with a big breakfast. It’s a shame, but apart from that we had a fabulous stay.
