A little tired, but a great stay.

SteeleB09 (Heber City, Utah) on Jul 07, 2024

Stayed here for a week over the 4th of July with my family (kids 9 and 13). Fun stay overall. The property is huge, and a little tired, but it is fun and close to the theme parks. Our room was a standard with 2 queens. Toilet and shower has a barn door that separates them from the bathroom. I really hate the barn door thing. No privacy at all, you can hear everything. Might as well have a curtain. Beds were very comfy and having a mini fridge was very helpful for us. We kept snacks and some basic breakfast stuff in there during the week. The pool is big with plenty of chairs and space, with some smaller slides for kids. Then there is a separate pool with large water slides and a lazy river, that you have to access with a wristband. Kids loved the big slides and lazy river. Only downside it you have to walk over from the main pool. We had dinner one night at the Italian restaurant, Siro. We sat down at 7p and we walked out at 728p. Service was super efficient and the food was good. The best thing about the hotel is The Pantry. It had snacks, drinks, and hot items that you purchase for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hot dog was better than the one I had at Disney. And reasonably priced for a hotel. We had pancakes, French toast, and breakfast sandwiches. Pizza and hot dogs for lunch, and they also have cold sandwiches, salads, and soft serve ice cream. We would definitely come back. Just need a little TLC. And they do a lot of group business, so be ready for that. They also offer a free shuttle to/from the parks at set times.

Terrible Experience - not ideal if you aren’t there for a convention

Indytravels2 on Jul 06, 2024

This is dollar for dollar the worst hotel I have stayed at. We had multiple families stay here before a Disney cruise and all of us hated it. Absolutely the worst customer service we had in Orlando - we stayed here, went to a Disney cruise, then booked another hotel for our return. We got to the hotel at 3:45pm to check in (we would have been fine with our room being ready at 4), but they first tried to put us in a cheaper room without saying anything. Then when I told them we booked a suite with a pool and laser view, she said “oh it doesn’t say that in your reservation” which I booked directly through Marriott since I am Bonvoy member. They told us they need to clean our room. We went back after an hour to be met with apathy. Thinking it was just that individual employee, my wife asked for a manager - she was completely monotone and had no empathy for us or our exhausted kids and infant. We finally got a room at 5:30pm - I have never had this experience. For paying over $600/night, I was shocked at the horrible service and the fact that our room wasn’t ready. It really set off everything for our trip poorly as we stayed here 3 nights. I think the hotel is more for people at the convention center than for people coming to Orlando. There was nothing really luxurious about the hotel. The mikado restaurant actually had some great service and food, and the cashiers at the market were nice. Everyone else seemed too busy to care or try. Also, if you try to order anything from Amazon, it will go to fedex who will charge you per package to pick it up. We picked the hotel, and our friends kind of blamed us for the experience. By far a terrible experience.
