My wife and I spent 2 nights here in late September, 2024, prior to a cruise. We wanted something relatively near to the cruise port, but the actual hotel that's at the port (Pan Pacific?) was over $800 per night, which is insane. However, I'll state that all hotels in downtown Vancouver are crazy expensive, and this Marriott property was no exception at about $350 per night (although compared to others in the area, it was a "bargain"!!!). The location is pretty decent, being a reasonable walk to many things downtown, including being just two blocks from the waterfront. It's about a 15 minute to Gas Town and maybe 10 minutes to the cruise port. We had rented a car because during our one full day in town, we were going to explore a few different areas. The hotel does have a parking garage, and it actually works pretty well, although the spaces are quite narrow. It's pricey, but convenient. The rooms themselves are very average. The decor is nothing special and I'd say the hotel's rooms are probably a decade or so overdue for a renovation. Little things like the lack of smart TVs and VERY few USB ports showed us how old the place is. It was comfortable and spacious enough...just nothing special. We were on a higher floor, with a "view" but honestly, the view was mostly of other tall buildings and didn't amount to much. We did not take any meals at the hotel or spend time at the bar. It was a hopping place, I will say...always packed in the evenings. I waffled between 3 and 4 stars for this place, but settled on 3 because the front desk service was quite indifferent. When we checked in, the young lady helping us was slow and very quiet in her speaking voice. I often had to ask her to repeat herself and she wasn't big on making eye contact. Not great customer service. A couple of other times during our stay, we needed to ask quick questions, and the folks at the desk always seemed like we were bothering them. While I tried not to think of the cliche of "friendly Canadians", they didn't even live up to passably friendly. Each time, a different, youngish person. Each time, indifference. And when we checked out, not even a smile or "hope you enjoyed your stay." Just took our key cards and said "we'll email your receipt." Sure...fine. So, it was a mixed bag. Very average, all told. Not a horrible time, but certainly not a memorably nice hotel to stay in either.
