Children and family
Travelling is an adventure full of great memories waiting to happen. That’s why it’s important to be prepared, especially as a family. Below, you’ll find details you may need to consider when booking as a family, such as how to book for guardians or unaccompanied minors, and baggage allowance.
Family benefits at a glance
Priority boarding
Included for those families travelling with young children.
Seat selection
Children 14 years of age and less can be seated close to their family at no extra charge.

Before you go
Make sure to check all travel documentation and ID as well as baggage allowances for carry on and checked baggage. WestJet allows child and infant equipment, including car seats, to be checked in addition to a guest's checked baggage allowance at no charge.
If you’re a new mom, or a soon-to-be mom, that’s an extra layer of preparation to consider. Here’s all you need to know when travelling with infants under two. For families travelling with older children, be sure to review the guidelines for children 2 years of age or older.
Children less than 14 years of age can sit beside or near an adult on the same itinerary for no extra charge. Select your seats when you book your flight online or contact us to make sure the whole family is together.
At the airport
Preparation is key particularly if your child is travelling on their own. The unaccompanied minor program outlines important information to ensure their journey is safe, fun and stress-free for parents.
