Elimination of PCR Testing for trips less than 72 Hours

If you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or individual registered under the Indian Act and taking a trip outside of Canada that’s under 72 hours, this update is for you. Effective November 30, 2021, individuals who fall into one of these categories, who depart Canada and re-enter the country within 72 hours of leaving will be exempt from the obligation to provide a pre-entry PCR or molecular test result.

This exemption only applies for trips that originated in Canada, and are taken by fully vaccinated Canadian citizens, permanent residents or individuals registered under the Indian Act; it also applies to any children under 12 who are accompanying their family. This does not apply to foreign nationals who originate in Canada, or any person whose travel originates outside of Canada.

Measurement of the 72 hours is from the time your outbound flight is scheduled to depart from Canada until the time that your return flight is scheduled to depart the foreign location back to Canada.

Guests who meet the above criteria are obligated to be able to demonstrate that they have been away from Canada for less than 72 hours, to be validated by the airline before boarding your return flight to Canada.
