Amazing Antigua..

Barry L on Aug 18, 2024

Been lucky enough to visit Antigua a few times, staying at sister hotels of St James. We were excited to stay somewhere new and this resort didn't disappoint. A reasonable number of places to eat, IMO the quality of the food is great for an all inclusive. Its nice not to see too much buffet with A la carte available in the majority of cases. The Eleven Eleven is a nice idea, whilst you're adjusting timezones you can grab something off a menu at almost any time of the day. No restrictions on the premium drinks and a good selection. Chocolate milkshakes were especially popular with the kids and the staff were happy to make them. The golf kart mobile bar is a great addition, loved this.. The hotel seemed to be running at low capacity but fully staffed which made for a personal and attentive experience. Some days we were the only people at one of the smaller pools which was lovely.. Not sure whether its this generally this quiet in Jul/Aug? If so we'd opt for this time of year next time. All the staff are polite and happy which goes a long way with us. I'd like to specifically call out Tryphone (hopefully spelt correctly!) This lady is a real asset to the restaurants, going out of her way to make sure we were looked after. I only had to walk near the bar and our usual drinks were ready.. ???? Thanks again Tryphone! Cleanliness and upkeep of the resort is excellent, the beaches & pool area's are well kept. There is an obvious seaweed issue on the Atlantic side which gives off a bit of a smell at first but they are actively doing their best to clear it. The Mamora side is calm and nice for a paddle, the sand is as good as I've seen in the Caribbean however its as not as clear and inviting for swimming as some resorts. (didn't bother us) - Only thing I'd say here is to perhaps invest a little in some of the watersports equipment, most of the pedalo's are broken along with the intriguing looking water bike board thing, I'd like to have had a go on that if it was working.. The hobi-cats are all fine though, enjoyed these.. Tranquility spa, very nice. A well stocked & good size gym. Pickle ball is good laugh if you can take it in the sun.. We needed to stay an extra night due to flight issues. This was dealt with fine by reception and we were able to keep the same rooms. We also required a late checkout and although this was possible for $75 USD it could have been made easier, we had to go to reception 6 times speaking to a few different people who weren't aware of the previous discussions. Would be great for someone to own this process when requested, organising the bag collection and letting you know its 100% confirmed the night before where possible.. All in all, this is up there with our favourite trips to the Caribbean and I'd thoroughly recommend St James Club if you're visiting the super island of Antigua.. Thankyou..

Wonderful resort with great staff

Paul D on Aug 15, 2024

St. James’s Club Antigua is a paradise not just because of its stunning location, but because of the extraordinary staff who go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. From the moment you arrive, you're welcomed with genuine warmth and care, with standout team members like Joslin, whose kindness and friendliness make you feel so welcome, and Nadene, whose kindness and efficiency make you feel like a VIP. Special mention goes to Vincent, the bartender, who crafts the most delightful cocktails with a smile that brightens your day. The dedication and friendliness of the staff make this resort feel like a second home, turning an already beautiful destination into an extraordinary experience.
