This resort is very lovely and clean! Food was great and good variety in each restaurant. All staff are super friendly but the shout out definitely goes to Kendall! ?? He totally made our stay at this... resort so special! Only issue was the mosquitoes so good idea to bring repellent and afterbite! I would go back to this hotel.
A good resort with room for improvement. Staff are on the whole excellent.

Overall: Our recent stay at Ocean Maya Royal in Mexico was positives with a few negatives. The resort itself has well-maintained gardens and clean rooms. However, service inconsistencies and overcooked foo...d occurred through our stay. Positives: • Cleanliness: The room and gardens were consistently clean and well-maintained. • Room Comfort: The room was comfortable, with a good air conditioning system (although the temperature display wasn't accurate), blackout blinds, and a comfortable bed with sheets and a blanket. Plenty of sealed bottled water was provided. • Bathroom: The bathroom was spacious, featuring twin sinks and a large walk-in shower with plenty of hot water. • Pools: The pools were clean and offered a variety of depths, catering to different preferences (party pool vs. quiet pool). • Coffee shop (Mikes): The coffee was excellent. • El Charro Lunch: The lunch food at El Charro al la carte. • Red Wine & Cocktails: The red wine and cocktails were enjoyable. • Yoga: The yoga sessions were very good for in-resort yoga, with skilled instructors. • Room Key Brackets: Thin and unobtrusive room key brackets were a nice touch. • Maintenance: our balcony door repair was completed quickly. People to note for their help and service Aurora in Mikes Carlos for his energy and enthusiasm Pilah for Wine Tasting translation Activities – Dali Kendall for his welcome and smile Negatives: • Service: Restaurant waiters were often inattentive, and service during dinners was generally slow and difficult to obtain. The service at lunch was also lacking. The Teppanyaki restaurant waiter was abrupt and pushed the upsell of alcoholic drinks. This spoilt our experience. • Check-in: The check-in process was chaotic. After being given a welcome drink, we were left unattended and could have waited indefinitely. We were not informed about restaurant closing days. • Room Configuration: We were given twin beds instead of a king bed. King beds need to be requested prior to your stay • Lounger Reservation: Despite notices, lounger reservation was prevalent, requiring guests to arrive early to secure a spot. • 5 star Google reviews there is a push by the activity team for the guests to write 5 star reviews. To the extent that they stand over you and watch what you are rating and writing. This feels very uncomfortable. Trust you do a good enough job to earn the 5 stars. • Massage Harassment: We were constantly harassed to book massages, multiple times by the same person in various locations (this was hotel massage as well as the offers that you get on the public beach). • Eco Claims: The hotel's claims of eco-friendly sheet (changed every 3 days) and towel practices (towels hung will be reused) were not evident. • No full-length mirror: Room lacked a full-length mirror. • There could be more information about the activities so that people could understand if they wish to or can do an activity. (I was waiting by the activities desk and someone who couldn’t walk wanted to do the lagoon tour. It would have saved a lot of embarrassment for the person if this had been stated as a walk along the beach and swim at the lagoon.) Tips for Future Guests: • Bring an insulated coffee beaker for takeout drinks (hot and cold). • Pack slippers for the cold bedroom floor. • Be prepared to arrive early to secure sun loungers. • Confirm bed configuration upon booking. • Be aware of the alcohol upsell in the restaurants. • Lagoon Tour: The lagoon tour was simply a short walk to a cenote outlet, not a dedicated tour.
