A Motel 6 experience
Michele A on Mar 21, 2025
My friend JR, recovering from cancer, and major shoulder surgery. She hadn't had a vacation for 7 years. Taking her on her dream vacation gave her a lift in her step like nothing else. When we arrived at t...he Ambassador, we were greeted kindly, but a bit dismayed learning I had to pay an additional $50/day for a resort fee. Crossing through the lobby to the elevators, my eyes noticed the dirty rugs. upon reaching the 30th floor, I became aware that our room entrance was "Motel" like, to the outdoors. entering the room, I fain disappointment with the decor, and low scale atmosphere. The balcony small was cement with metal walls with 2 metal chais and a table. The wall A/C unit blew down onto my head, but we needed it on to drown out the loud street noise. The bathroom was nicely remolded. With the TV not working, we went to check out the pool, finding it small, loud with the street noise and not inviting. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant or bar. JR was disappointed...I understood. Making the decision to find other accommodations was easy. When I approached the front desk, the gal told me she would not credit my card for the daily resort fee or the downpayment to be returned, totaling almost $500, if I didn't steal from the room. I needed to get a refund from my booking company. She didn't seem to care that we were unhappy and checking out. The hotel in the end, did not refund the points I used to book the room. I lost a lot for a poor experience. JR and I found other accommodations and had a wonderful time. I'm a mature woman, i have traveled a lot with my late husband, and I have a standard that is not aligned with a "Motel 6". Although, I understand, the Ambassador would be acceptable for some.
Amazing stay!

Staff super friendly and professional. Great location. Rooms clean and nice view! From the valet to the bartender, housekeeping and front desk all nice people. Definitely would stay there every time I visi...t Waikiki. Don’t forget to use the body wash, left me smelling like Hawaii when I came back home! Please send me some lol
