Wonderful place but beware of the barking dogs!

We arrived to our club level room (11509) in the St Lawrence building of Sandals Royal. We were immediately hit by a damp smell. When you look at the outside of the building you can see black mould on the ...walls - this is obviously badly effecting some of the rooms. Worst of all however, was the fact the property backed onto a residential area where one of the residents has a large dog that barks ALL the time from early morning (before 6am). We had seen another guest mention this on a Sandals page on Facebook and raised it before we came and were told it wasn’t an issue. We visited the Club Sandals lounge the next morning after arrival and made a complaint. The staff initially tried to downgrade us but then agreed to move us to a swim-up room (9120). This room was lovely and no smell of damp. However, this room was right at the edge of the property (Azure building) and yet again we were bothered by dogs barking, again from early morning. Try and make sure your room if you book is not on the perimeter of the property and you should be ok! The staff were great, all very pleasant and friendly - much more so than Sandals Antigua. The resort is clean and well maintained and there were always enough sun beds either by any pool or the beach - not sure why people complain about this. As for the food - in the main it was brilliant. Special mentions to Butch’s Chophouse and The Bombay Club. The chef at Bombay Club came out to talk to me about the menu due to a food allergy and was really helpful. The food there was delicious. The food at Chi (we ate there twice) was lovely the first visit and very poor the second visit. We had a candlelit dinner on the beach on our wedding anniversary and were disappointed to find that the menu was the same across all resorts and has been the same for many years (had the same menu in Sandals Antigua in 2022!) and this meal was probably the most underwhelming of our stay. Breakfast at The Greenhouse and La Parisienne were excellent. We avoided the lunchtime buffet as it wasn’t as good our previous visit in 2019. Lunchtime options for a 10-day stay get a bit boring to be honest. Another lunchtime option would be great for those staying for longer. Sandals really need to improve the booking system for booking meals when you’re on resort. We went to Club Sandals on the day of arrival and were disappointed to only get one meal booked at the time we wanted in a 10-day stay, yet the restaurants were always half-empty whenever we visited.
Butch’s Chophouse is a must stop while staying at Sandals Barbados or Sandals Royal Barbados!

Shian did a great job serving us at Butch’s Chophouse. We have had a great experience. The steaks and entire meal was great. The weather has been amazing as well as the entire experience. I would recomm...end this resort highly. Kelly Ann also did a great job serving us.
