A fun stay which included a bear sighting!

baligirl89 (Texarkana, Texas) on Jul 10, 2024

We had a fun time during our stay. We even saw a bear on property! The hotel lobby is beautiful. We enjoyed Larkspur lobby bar for drinks and dinner. The Fish and Chips at lunch were fantastic and we loved the small plates we shared for dinner. We loved Primrose for breakfast. My favorite was the ham and cheese omelette and the jellies. We also had the buffet the day we departed. We booked a mountain view balcony room with breakfast and valet included. The hotel is not in the downtown area but there is a shuttle and passes given for the bus service. It's really just a short ride up the mountain to the hotel. The staff was exceptional. Everyone had a smile on their face with an eagerness to see if we needed anything. We enjoyed our room. It was large and the slider was great for fresh air during the night. The rooms do need updating but it was clean and the bed comfortable with plenty of hot water. We took the shuttle to the Fairmont and enjoyed Bow Falls and then hiked into town and tried a couple of the local breweries. My husband did some elevated hikes and enjoyed the view. We would definitely return to Rimrock Resort Hotel.

You MUST Book Your Transport To Lake Louise in Advance!!

susieplum2017 (County Down, United Kingdom) on Jul 08, 2024

We stayed here in July 2023. The hotel is slightly out of town but you get a free bus ticket for the duration of your stay and the bus stop is right outside the hotel. Parking in Banff is not that easy anyway. The main street area is pedestrianized although the buses are allowed to travel down them. The hotel was very comfortable probably in need of an update but not shabby just maybe starting to look dated. We heard that the Fairmont Hotel Group had in fact just purchased it before our arrival. I hope this does not mean that it loses its ambience. Its a busy hotel but very friendly with a nice atmosphere and very friendly efficient staff. I hope the hotel retains those qualities despite the takeover. The breakfast was very good and if you want to have a quick on the go breakfast there is a super coffeeshop/bakery store inside the hotel where you can buy breakfast! We loved Banff! Its a lovely town with lots of restaurants, shops etc. The riverside walks are well worth doing. There was an open air art exhibition along the river walk when we were there. Also look out for the craft market. Well worth a visit. The one big mistake we made was not pre booking a return bus ticket to Lake Louise/Lake Moraine. I had relied on information from friends who had previously visited the lakes. It has all changed. You can no longer drive up to Lake Louise and park and ride. You have to pre book your transport. I think the cheapest way to do it is just book seats with the local bus company. In July 2 days ahead there were no seats left for sale. Despite having a hire car parked in the hotel car park we had to pay over 200 CD to book seats on a private tour bus!!!! As a result we spent less than an hour at Lake Louise and about an hour at Lake Moraine. I was gutted. We would have probably spent the day there between both lakes as there are walks and hiking trails. Lake Moraine should not be missed. I liked it better than Lake Louise. Don't get me wrong Lake Louise is beautiful too! There is a viewing point up the Rockpile Trail.....the views are absolutely stunning! One of my photos is now my desktop background on my PC. Its a wow view don't miss it. Don't miss Banff either its a really lovely place to spend a few nights.
