The deets! Takeaway: Can't wait to stay again sometime!

I'll start by saying that we only had two nights at this awesome resort, but I wish we had many more! Skip to the bottom of this review for the CliffsNotes... We ended up changing our flights and staying in Mexico two more nights but we wanted to try some place new for us. We were staying at another resort close by and I'm so glad we picked M.E. as our transfer! The lobby is large, bright, airy and elegant. Check in was fairly simple but I had only been able to book a room online for the family side and we wanted to be in a Club room. They didn't have anything on the Club side available until the following day so we scheduled to change our room the next day to stay our second night on the Club side (Adults only). The front desk person that checked us in was so very helpful and assisted us in picking two fantastic room locations. From there we were directed to speak with the concierge to make our two dinner reservations. Manuel was speaking with another guest when we arrived and he was very patient with that person who was giving him quite a hard time. Once it was our turn, we sat down with Manuel and he was so kind and helpful and arranged our dinners for both nights (we specifically wanted to try the French and Italian restaurants since we only had the two evenings). He also arranged for one of the Sommeliers to meet with us since we wanted to pick out a bottle of wine for each evening's meal. We were also told that our room was not quite ready yet, but the bellmen held our luggage while we explored and got acquainted with the layout of the resort. Our first stop was the upper lobby bar and they have a lovely cocktail menu (there is a qr code you can scan when you arrive that has menus, schedules etc) and we enjoyed our first M.E. drinks! From there, we meandered over to the Tiki bar. Victor "Tiki" was so welcoming and fun! He really added to our great first impressions of this resort. After our delicious tropical beverages we headed over to the spa. I had seen some incredible pictures of their "cenote" and hoped to take a tour to preview if we wanted to schedule some time in the spa. It did not disappoint! We scheduled a hydrotherapy session for the following morning. Since we were switching to a Club level room the following day the hydrotherapy circuit was an included service (side note: we did not schedule any other spa services so I cannot speak on those). I highly recommend at least doing the hydro areas even if you don't do any other spa services. It actually rained that next morning and relaxing in the cenote pool was an amazing way to wait out the showers. Our first room on the family side was a two story room with a king bed and large bathroom with soaking tub and double sinks on the first floor as well as a small balcony with two chairs and a great view on the North East side of building 5. Just an FYI that they are currently constructing an additional building to the M.E. on the South side so I specifically asked not to be on that side. The second floor of the room is accessible only by a staircase (but there are elevators in the buildings to get to the rooms) and leads to a large enough balcony patio with a large lounger bed and whirlpool tub, two chairs and a table with an incredible view of the beach and ocean! The buildings are done in such a way that I imagine any room on that North side, on an upper floor, has an awesome view. Our first night's dinner was at Bistro which is the 18+ only restaurant which is only open for dinner. It is a beautiful restaurant with fantastic ambiance. There was a piano player who was top notch and our server Gabriel was quite possibly the most professional and world class server we've ever had at a resort. We would 100% recommend you ask to sit in his area! The next morning I used the electric kettle in our room and enjoyed a hot tea on our balcony, but they do also have a coffee maker in the room. Then we went to the front desk and inquired about our room on the Club side and asked to have our new bracelets put on so we could start enjoying the Club benefits asap. They obliged and we went to the Italian restaurant, Il Bottaccio, for breakfast. It is open for breakfast and lunch only for guests with Club bracelets. Our server was great and our meal was delicious. I asked for a rush on our order since we had a reservation for the hydro circuit at the spa and our food came out quickly as requested. We stopped back at the front desk after the spa and much to our delight, our new room was ready early! They requested that the butler show us the way and I tell you what......Paco is incredible. I wish we had more time there to be under his care. He was very professional but also very warm and kind. He even offered to run us a bubble bath for after our dinner that evening! Someone please tell Paco that even with only one night on the Club side he made a lasting impression on us!!! (Please bring him a couple Snickers bars) Our new room was HUGE. I could see really settling in if you have a few days there. We had an Ocean front King room on level 3 (which is actually the 4th floor with a view that really just can't be beat. We splurged on our room since we only had the one night on that side. There was a half bath upon entering which was an appreciated feature. The living room had a small dining table with two chairs, sofa, large tv, and bar style table with stools by the patio door. The patio had a large jacuzzi tub, table and chairs and a large round lounger which would be perfect for a mid day nap lol. The mini bar was basically the same as our prior room but also had a larger selection of teas and included small bottles of bacardi and hornitos. There are also robes in the closet on the club side in addition to the slippers that are in the room on the family side as well. From there we went to investigate the Club section offerings. The general vibe was a little different since it was adults only. There were tons of bali beds and every first floor room appeared to be a swim out (which I think may also be true on the family side). There were two club lounges with self serve snacks and beverages as well as a selection of top shelf alcohols. I tried a tuna salad sandwich and it was very tasty! My only negative is that there seemed to only be a single person restroom (one men's one women's) in these areas. The resort itself is really not huge so if that restroom was occupied we just went up to our room, but it seems like an oversight on their part since it is a club lounge. The infinity pool looks right onto the pristine white sand beach and the bartender was very friendly and accommodating! There was a swim up bar or walk up bar at every pool area I think! Not all of them were staffed, but it was a drizzly day so it seemed like most people were at that infinity pool/bar. The beach along this entire area of Playa/Costa Mujeres is almost impossible to beat. It is expansive and feels like powdered sugar under your feet!!! The resort has tons of loungers and bali beds. We went out to the club beach bar and "Luna" was a fun and friendly bartender! Our dinner for the second evening was at Il Botaccio. Our server Juan was a delight and it seemed like the staff really worked together as a team to ensure great service for all guests. We ordered entirely too much food lol but my salad and mushroom soup were so good! I'm pretty sure the hostess Liliana was there all three times we ate at that restaurant that day lol. She was so sweet each visit! As a matter of fact, I think the employees here are some of the friendliest and most outgoing folks we've encountered at an All Inclusive!! We really did feel welcomed at each food outlet! Bars were a little hit or miss but that also varies with volume and staffing levels. There were a couple larger wedding groups while we were there (which isn't an issue for us) that seemed to put the lobby bar workers (top floor and bottom floor) "in the weeds" a couple of times. Management staffing for planned volume increases could help a lot in this department. Another thing to note as a traveler if you are looking for an adults only resort.....all of the restaurants are on the Family side. As mentioned, two of them offer adults only dining at different times but for instance, our dinner at the Italian restaurant was right next to a very large family with a few small children. Which is NOT a complaint on my end, but as mentioned, just an FYI to help you plan your occasion accordingly. We had the luck to be staying on an evening that they had the Fire Show and I am SO GLAD we got to see it! This would be on a "do not miss" list as far as I'm concerned! Really fantastic talent and music. Very modern. Again, this is also on the Family side but really wasn't an issue for us in that regard. They had a couple of temporary bars set up there in the patio area outside of Mar House, which is the area the show is in. We actually did pop over to Mar House for lunch when we first arrived and the hostesses and waiter were so welcoming and friendly! The food selection was standard fare but plenty to get you through. (If we had one more night we would have gone here for dinner as well to try the a la carte seafood offerings) We also popped over to Flavors buffet that same afternoon and I found their live cooking pasta station to be great! We really did try to get a well rounded experience in the short period of time we had. Overall takeaways: Bellmen and luggage guys are top notch! I never felt uneasy about our bags, who was getting them, at what time etc etc. Front desk folks and concierge were super accommodating and helpful! Buildings, common areas, pools and grounds were without fault! Smaller in size so easily manageable but not so small that it felt restrictive. Both rooms were enviable and I would love the opportunity to have either again! Food was very good and of great quality, especially for an A.I. Alcohol selection is very respectable and they have one of the best and most extensive cocktail menus I've seen at an A.I. TRY THEM ALL lol Beach is a no brainer. Enjoy! Butler services, Paco.....you're the best! Impeccable. Thanks again. To be honest, this resort is a little out of our budget to do an entire one week stay since we travel frequently (at this point in our lives anyway). But I am SO GLAD we tried it for two nights on a last minute whim. We will absolutely be keeping our eyes out for another opportunity to stay again!

If you are looking to relax, unwind and have fun too…this is the place! This was my 2nd time staying at this resort and I must say…it’s FABULOUS!! We stayed in a deluxe swim out (which I highly recommend) with our own plunge pool as well! The plunge pool was an added bonus however, the swim out was perfect! Bar service by Jonathon was always quick, reliable and tasty and our butler, Chan, made us feel like royalty every day! The food is great with lots of choices with only two restaurants wanting reservations! The resort is clean, beautiful and maintained at all times! We were in room 4006 which could get a little noisy when party goers were heading back to their rooms however, it didn’t last long at all! This is a “wedding resort” as there must’ve been 2-3 weddings a day…this was always fun to watch! I highly recommend this resort and I encourage you to ask for Chan as your butler! I’d go back to this resort anytime without any reservations ( you do need to reserve??) because it is 10/10 in my opinion!
