My family and I stayed at the Melia Cozumel over the 4th of July and Hurricane Beryl. The beach is not the prettiest on the island, but the staff works hard to keep it clean and comfortable. The rooms are dated, but comfortable. In the tower you are afforded a great Caribbean view, glorious sunsets, and better booze. The breakfast was good, the lunch was ok, Mole Restaurant was great, dinner buffet could use some improvement, and the beach snack shack was great! The Hurricane did limit our ability to visit the other restaurants. I do recommend spending the extra cash to stay in the Level Club. A few tips that the Melia has no control over. 1. The beach and water clarity; The resort is on the northern portion of the island. When the current and winds come from the north east, the water becomes murky and brown. (At least pre-hurricane) 2. AA Vacations; The Melia encouraged us to find transportation off the island 2 days before the hurricane and even offered to comp the unused nights. I purchased through AA Vacations who were no help. They would not comp unused room nights, and said early departure would be voluntary and would have charged $250 per ticket in change fees. So we rode out Hurricane Beryl. 3. Taxis, if you have more than 4 people, taxis charge double. 4. Hurricane Beryl; The Melia and all of its staff went the extra mile to accommodate us before, during, and after the storm. Even though we lost power and air conditioning, the Melia staff kept us informed and well fed. I would like to point out a few employees who went the extra mile to make our stay even more enjoyable: - Jorge Vivas, our preferred waiter. Who always greeted us with a smile and was always full of useful information. - Jose, who stood in front of a hot griddle for hours making omelettes with a smile on his face! - Gerardo Ponciano & Diego Aguilar, the beach managers at the Level area. Who were very attentive and courteous. Enjoy your stay!

The staff at the Fish House was excellent. Jesus was very attentive. Be sure to look and you may spot an iguana hanging out enjoying the atmosphere. Wasn't over crowded. If you are looking to party, this is not the place. Nice relaxing atmosphere. If you upgrade to the level, be sure to ask for Hector!

Our checkin was easy and we were quickly exploring our room! Our view was incredible, looking out over the (adult-only swim-up bar) pool and beach umbrellas to the ocean. The scene is now my computer wallpaper. The sunsets were fabulous! The forecast called for rain daily, it did not rain daily and when it rained it had no impact on our day due to time or location. Our kids are young so we only used the family pool near the buffet. We were always able to get chairs near the pool with umbrellas. The Kidsdom is nearby and our kids did hang out there for a couple hours one day; they did arts and crafts and played with the other kids. Most of the other children spoke Spanish, mine know little but said everyone was included and seemed to have fun. It was blue crab breeding season and while odd to see crabs everywhere for days, it was very fun and entertaining - something we will never forget! We could have happily and lazily stayed at the resort for the whole trip, however we rented a jeep and explored a lot! Our kids favorite experiences were the clear boat tour and bird watching tour. Wonderful family trip!

Great place to get away from everything!!! Small resort and everything is close together. Two pools - one for kids/families and one for adults. The beach is clean, and seaweed is cleaned up every day. April, who leads daytime activities, is amazing!!!

My only concern was we weren’t explained at check in the different levels that the bracelets meant. For example if you have the white bracelet then you get the high end premium liquors. We paid for it on our package so then we should have been told that at check in. Alexandra checked us in and didn't seem to know what she was doing so that explains why we weren’t told. That definitely needs to be addressed.
