Adequate but old
Seahorse-JOburg (Winter Haven, Florida) on May 06, 2025
this is an old residential hotel. It is well situated for the beach and is easliy accesible to trasport and freeway. Half the guests are permanents so it has a old feel and has no traditional hotel facilit...ies to speak of. No formal restauarant and no bar on site although there is a fast food shop and pool bar. The rooms are adequately appointed and have food prep facilities incliding a stove cooker and microwave. aircon is noisy but works well . valet service and pool are good . do not expect breakfast and come prepard as there are no convenience stores in walking distance. Would stay again - on business ( not vacation)
Disappointed with management
JohnnyHolland27 on Mar 22, 2025
We were part of the Argentine tango festival that was held at the Marco Polo Beach Resort Hotel this past March. We booked an ocean front room several months before the event. We called a week before arriv...ing to confirm the booking and even called the day of to confirm the booking and the room. We arrived at the hotel and were told that we were assigned to another room. According to the front desk staff, there was a problem with the plumbing and that the room we booked was no longer available. This other room was in another part of the building with a view of a rooftop and only a partial, side view of the ocean. We were told that our ocean front room would be ready by one o’clock the next day. We waited the next day (and missed a dance event) but only at 3 pm our ocean front room was ready. On that day, the manager on duty, Whitney Stamper, told us that we would receive a discount of $60 off our total bill. The partial view room on day 1 is $32 less expensive, so it was really only a discount of $28. We were unhappy with this small discount because we experienced the inconvenience of living out of our suitcases for one day, then having to wait for the new room, and then having to move and unpack. We expressed our dissatisfaction with the manager, but she was unsympathetic. When we checked out, we found out that the discount was only $50 (so, actually $18). We questioned it and were told that the manager, Whitney Stamper, told us that the total discount would be “about” $60, which was a lie. We tried to talk with Miss Stamper, but she claimed to be on the phone and never came out to see us. We then emailed the general manager, Mr. Hector Pachon, explained our story, and asked him for a fairer discount. It has been two weeks now, and Mr. Pachon has not responded to our email. On a more positive note, we received excellent service from the housekeeping staff. Gene, who found our phone charger I left in the first room, was very helpful. A front desk staff member, John Q, was courteous and professional. The small Italian restaurant in the basement, run by Diego Bianco and his family, was also excellent. Unfortunately, because of the poor treatment by the management, we will not be returning next year.
