We were confused between this hotel and the more famous Hilton Hawaiian village resort complex. Initially disappointed when we discovered our mistake. However when we did visit the Hilton Hawaiian village ...we realised we had got the best at the Hilton Waikiki hotel and spa. the village seemed far too busy for our liking. Lovely efficient valet parking and reception staff. Perfect rooms. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed it every day during our stay. The service was excellent including that from their robot. A few negatives - the tour desk were hard sell. Thankfully we didn’t take their advice. Told us the only way to visit the Arizona memorial was to book a trip with them for a 07:30 departure. We drove out to Pearl Harbour at midday and got a boat to the memorial at 13:30 all for free. We did pay $39 at the harbour for the Missouri that afternoon. The tour desk advised against the Polynesian Cultural centre saying it was far too big for a short visit. Luckily we ignored that comment and did the visit ourselves. Had we not we would have missed a super venue showing reconstructions of villages from across Polynesia. Then the best buffet you could imagine and an amazing show of fire and dance that was the highlight of our trip to Hawaii. The bar was certainly not what Conrad Hilton would have wanted for his guests. In fairness it seemed to be the norm at Waikiki hotels but I did expect better at a Hilton. The bar closed at 22:30 or earlier most evenings. Friday was advertised as 23:00 closing. We arrived at 22:20 and ordered a round of drinks. We were informed the bar was closing so that was the last service. When I pointed out that closing was 23:00 the bartender did agree to another round but served in plastic glasses. All in all a good place to stay in a central location and in spite of my few negative notes I would certainly highly recommend it.
