Book Somewhere Else

Chen Q on Nov 10, 2024

I seriously can’t wrap my head around how this hotel has this many good reviews. I’m baffled. My experience here was a nightmare from start to finish. My husband and I booked a 7-day stay in two rooms to treat my parents to a nice trip, but this place tainted the experience. Both of the rooms I booked were city view rooms. One of the rooms has decent size, with a king-size bed and some space, but the other one? It was an absolute joke. The second room was about one third of the size of the first, with a cramped queen bed, and the layout was so ridiculous that you had to *side-step* just to walk around the bed. The TV was mounted in the *corner* of the room, barely hanging on the wall, and I was honestly waiting for it to fall off onto someone’s head. There was ZERO space for anything. I couldn’t even open my suitcase without knocking into the walls. This wasn’t even close to what we booked—the option we chose was a king bed in one room and two queens in the other, which is clearly not what I got. So, naturally, we go down to the front desk to ask for a room change. And you know what they tell us? “Oh, the room you booked was a *special request*, we did our best to accommodate you." Special request? The way that room was listed on the Costco website made it look like a standard option. No warning that we were basically gambling on whether it’d work out. When we pushed them further, they basically shrugged it off and told us that ALL city view rooms were the same size with one tiny queen bed. We just got super lucky with the other room, which was an exception. That was a flat-out lie. I’ve done extensive research on this hotel—looked at guest photos from many platforms, and I know for a fact this is not the case. They just lied to my face. And I asked them, if you say so, show me 3-5 more city view rooms and let’s see if that is true. LOL, they won’t. Why? Because you were caught in a big fat lie. After 20min going back and fort, they finally gave us a different room. And guess what? This room wasn’t much better, but at least it had a king bed and didn’t feel like a shoe box. I would have just endured the worst room in hotel history if I wasn't tenacious about what I deserve for what I paid. But there were still issues with the new room, it was sandwiched between lobby and pool level, constantly super high humidity and smells like mold. It was overall just a bad experience. We were too fed up to to fight anymore. My parents’ room? The AC broke down THREE times in 7 days. What kind of *garbage* infrastructure is this? This place is a disaster, and I regret not spending a little extra to stay somewhere actually decent. Do yourself a favor—don’t stay here. Pay a little more for a better hotel with actual service and rooms that aren’t embarrassing. I wish I had.

Wonderful Experience at a Value Hotel

Relax739153 on Nov 09, 2024

Queen Kapiolani is an excellent choice for someone seeking affordable accommodations in Waikiki. The hotel is renovated and everything feels fresh. I appreciated that they had daily maid service without asking. The staff was exceptionally attentive and empowered to respond with solutions. The pool needed an emergency repair during our stay and management went out of their way to compensate by removing the resort feel (without asking) and providing an alternate pool at a nearby hotel. I will definitely stay here again.
