The hotel is well-maintained and everything is kept in good condition, the lobby and the living room were spacious, the interior design was chic, the color combination and lighting used were pleasant, and the outdoor area was comfortable. The gym was surprisingly nice, with new equipment and the area is clean, a good selection for a city hotel that is good enough for a decent workout. The rooftop pool is nice, with comfortable loungers and cabanas. As part of our Bonvoy Titanium status, we got daily breakfast in the form of credits, $20 per person per day, a bottle of welcome wine, daily juice, and a $42 F&B credit daily (minibar excluded) since they charge a daily resort fee. My husband secured a suite for us and the room was beautiful and spacious, everything was relatively new and it was a comfortable room, the only downside was the sensor in the bathroom sometimes malfunctioned. We were also able to see the Griffith Observatory, and it was a sunrise room so every morning, we were blessed with an unobstructed view of the sunrise, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Prior to our arrival, the hotel asked about our arrival time, we said 4PM. We arrived around 3:45PM, they said our room was not quite ready and will call us when it is, and gave us an initial room number. They called my husband around 4:55PM, more than an hour after our arrival, and just under an hour after our pre-notified 4PM arrival. When we collected our keys, we got a new room instead, and it's 1 level below the original room, when we asked for the reason, the lady said the original room took too long to clean, so we got assigned another room instead. Also, there wasn't a "Bonvoy Elite Member" line like other Marriott properties. For our bottle of welcome wine, we pre-communicated via email that we wanted champagne, we asked multiple times during the check-in process to no avail, when we returned to our room at night after some time outside, still no champagne, and I had to call again to get someone to deliver it to our room. Needless to say, not the best first impression. We checked in on a Saturday and it just so happened the hotel was hosting LA Fashion Week at our hotel pool and somehow, hotel guests don't have access to it so we weren't able to check out the pool. This was a very different experience from our other stays at W Miami Beach and Edition New York, both had events at the hotel and hotel guests were granted automatic access. The hotel also seems to be understaffed, not sure if it was just that weekend where there were events, or it was a general phenomenon at this property. We noticed there were barely times where we see all 3 stations with staff, only 2 at most at a time, and for busier times, only 1 person station there and it resulted in long lines. Our first breakfast the next day was a pleasant experience, we sat inside and the gentleman on duty was polite and competent. The breakfast menu didn't have the biggest variety but it was acceptable. Our second breakfast, however, was a disaster. We sat outside and since not every table was near a heater and all other tables that were near a turned-on heater were taken, we sat down at a random table so the hostess can go assist someone else. I then noticed there were proper tables set up in the middle area with heaters but they weren't turned on at the moment, so I went back out to speak to the hostess and have her re-seat us, she tried to turn on the heater but it wouldn't work so she sat us down first and allegedly went to get help from another staff. I asked our server for green tea with honey, no honey came. I asked him for more hot water, no hot water came, and no one checked in on us, so I ended up going to the bar and get hot water myself. Side note, it might be worth investing in some teapots or kettles, so when customers ask for hot beverages, we can get a pot of hot water rather than just a cup, which is rarely enough, and we don't have to take a few sips then wait for someone to come over and refill our cup. For our last night, we decided to order some room service. On the app, it clearly stated they close at 10 PM, we put through the order at 9:40 PM and it was only for bottle water and chamomile tea and we got an error message saying it was unavailable. We checked with a gentleman at the front desk and he called for us, and through his conversation, it seems to suggest that the room service team simply wanted to close early and stop accepting orders, rather than honoring the 10 PM deadline. We did receive our order at the end, maybe because it was put through by front desk manually, but again, it wasn't the nicest experience. During our stay, there was non-stop maintenance and construction work going on, the stairs by the living room, and the stairs by the lobby entrance, one night they cut the water from 11:55 PM - 6 AM, and some unknown construction work at the pool so for the entire 5 nights we stayed there, every day the pool didn't open until noon and they close at 10 PM which is 4 hours past sunset, which doesn't make any sense. So regrettably we didn't get to spend time at the pool at all because of our sightseeing schedule. Also, they have a happy hour from 4-5 PM every day, which was a nice gesture but again, with how spread out LA is, the traffic, and what most people's sightseeing schedules are, no one are going to be able to enjoy the complimentary wine between 4-5 PM because timing just doesn't work. Overall, we still enjoyed our time there, but it wasn't our best stay.

Great experience across the board - the rooms are nicely designed, comfortable and clean, amazing attentive staff, super cool lobby and lounge, and great location. Will definitely make the W Hollywood our go-to LA hotel moving forward!!
They sell out rooms and don’t tell you

Drove 2 hours from San Diego, checked in at 10am and when i arrived they told me they sold out of rooms. We specifically booked this location cause it was walking distance from the venue we were attending and wanted to save on an Uber. So unprofessional
Amazing hotel and even better staff :)

I went and celebrated my most recent birthday at the W Hollywood and had the most magical day. The hotel is beautiful (I believe they are still renovating or are almost done) and the staff was so kind. Shoutout to Lina and Amelia for getting my friends and I an upgraded suite, I can’t believe how nice it was. They had all my favorite snacks and drinks up there upon arrival it made the day so much more special. We also had the best bartender, Ronaldo who gave fast service and was so nice and friendly. He made great drinks (the cucumber marg was so good) I definitely would recommend for anyone to stay here while they are visiting LA!! Thanks again to the wonderful staff :)
Nice but needs in-room coffee

I’ve stayed here three times and will be traveling to Hollywood every month or two. The location is ideal and the room is clean and spacious. However, the food options are very limited, and there’s no coffee maker in the room. I’ve had to go to the lobby each morning and wait in line to get coffee from a machine. It’s annoying and inconvenient. I don’t understand having a full bar in the room but no coffee. The Thompson around the corner has Nespresso machines in the room and I may go back to staying there just for that reason
